The temple was silent. Moonlight filtered through the large windows, casting a pale glow on the gold. On his throne, Jax watched his rebuilt kingdom from above, as a figure slowly made her way down the aisle.
Seraphina. Her white robe was torn, her bare feet leaving marks on the polished floor. Each step brought her closer to her god, and with each step, her breathing grew heavier.
When she reached the end, she fell to her knees. She didn't speak. She just bowed her head and, with a devotion that bordered on madness, kissed her lord's feet.
Jax watched her in silence. His gaze was cold, divine, but deep in his eyes, a fire Seraphina knew well was burning.
"You have done well," he murmured, his voice rumbling like a soft thunder. "You have guided my people when the world was shaking. You have kept my flame alive when everything else went dark."
Seraphina looked up, her eyes wet, trembling between fervor and desire. "My lord... I don't deserve your words..."
