Rachel left Emily's room feeling more anxious than when she entered.
She closed the door quietly, then stood in the corridor with one hand pressed against her chest.
Nothing.
She tried to find that familiar awareness of Ryan, the subtle sense of his presence she sometimes felt when he was nearby. But there was only her own heartbeat.
Emily was Dullahan's Queen Host. If anyone could feel him across the distance separating them, even with his abilities suppressed, perhaps it would be her.
