The soft glow from Alexander's desk lamp cast a pale circle on the surface, illuminating the stack of files and papers he had on the table. It was slowly becoming late and the second he wrapped up his important work for the day, he had the next couple of hours working on Lana's notes.
He leaned back in his chair, her scrawled handwriting staring back at him through his phone screen. He had taken the photos in a rush, but they were clear enough. Every margin note, every highlighted phrase, every little reminder she scribbled as though her life depended on it- it was all there.
