It was right when the ice and snow had just melted, and the cold hadn't fully gone away yet.
A piece of news came one after another, shattering the calm I'd just regained.
["Voyager 5 has disappeared."]
["Yes! It exploded due to the gravitational influence from that mysterious planet before."]
["Even at such a distance, it could be affected!"]
["I didn't expect its gravitational mass to be that huge."]
["The key point is that the planet is currently charging toward Earth..."]
On the TV, experts were discussing that mysterious planet heading toward Earth.
["What's going on exactly?"]
["Please stay calm, everyone. I know you're all worried, but we're still analyzing the relevant data."]
["So, what's the planet's current trajectory?"]
["Will it have any impact on Earth?"]
["Can you explain it, please?"]
...
Reporters from the audience kept asking questions on the TV. I was just about to keep watching when...
"Magical Girl Mami!..." Doraemon, sitting in front of the TV, suddenly grabbed the remote and changed the channel.
In the drama, Mami could use magic to do homework, clean the house—all through magic, even flying on a broom.
"It's Mami!" Doraemon's cheeks flushed, his eyes turning into hearts as he stared intently at the character on the TV.
He looked like a total obsessed fan.
I watched this scene and felt a bit speechless.
But then I started thinking deeply. It seemed like another memorable movie plot was about to begin—if I wasn't mistaken.
After watching Magical Girl Mami, Doraemon returned to the room satisfied, his eyes still full of hearts, saying, "Miss Mami is really so cute!"
Then he casually added,
"It's a shame, though. There's no such thing as magic in this world. All those inexplicable phenomena that were called magic in the past have been reasonably explained by modern science. Magic is just superstition."
Doraemon said this while preaching about believing in science. But then, seeing the messy room, he pulled out a gadget from his pocket called Robotter.
He scattered a handful and said, "All of you, go back to your original positions!"
In moments, the scattered items on the floor started moving, returning to their places, and the room was clean as new again!
My mouth twitched as I watched this. Doraemon's trick felt more magical than actual magic.
Just as I was about to say something, I suddenly noticed the desk ornament shaking.
"What's wrong?" Doraemon also sensed something off at that moment.
"An earthquake?" I wondered.
"Doesn't seem like it." Doraemon felt the direction of the vibration.
I noticed the vibration's direction too.
We both looked up at the swaying chandelier. The vibration was coming from above.
"What's this?" Doraemon was still puzzled about how an earthquake could reach the ceiling.
The next moment, with a "Bang!", the chandelier was shaken loose, and the roof was torn open, creating a huge hole.
Dust flew everywhere, wood chips scattered, and in the thick smoke, I could vaguely see a massive object crashing through the roof and smashing onto the tatami mat in the room.
"Waah! Ah!" Doraemon screamed in shock at the sudden situation.
I was startled too and quickly used my telekinesis to protect myself.
Luckily, I instinctively put up a telekinetic barrier, so I stayed relatively clean without getting covered in dust and wood chips.
But Doraemon wasn't so lucky—his reaction was slow, so he was covered in dust and debris.
"Cough cough cough!" With all that dust, Doraemon couldn't help coughing.
As the smoke cleared, the room that Doraemon had just cleaned up was a mess again.
There was now a big hole in the ceiling letting in light.
But what shocked us both was the statue that had landed head-down, embedded in the tatami due to the impact.
And the statue looked just like Doraemon.
"What's this?"
"Is... is that me?" Doraemon ignored the dust and wood chips on his face, walked over, and looked closely. The statue's appearance was exactly like him.
"It fell from the sky?" Doraemon looked at the hole in the ceiling, which was shaped like himself.
The vibration also affected Mom downstairs, and she asked what happened.
I replied that it was nothing.
Then, Doraemon first put the statue into his four-dimensional pocket for safekeeping.
He used the Robotter to clean up the room again, then used the Time Cloth to repair the big hole in the ceiling.
By the time Mom came up, there was nothing to see, so she went back down.
Doraemon finally let out a sigh of relief.
While Doraemon was resting, I finally understood what movie plot I'd encountered.
But there were still many things I didn't understand.
I sighed. It seemed like I'd have to figure this out myself in the end.
And that thing threatening to destroy Earth—I'd have to take the initiative to deal with it.
With that in mind, I said to Doraemon, "Doraemon, lend me the What-If Phone Booth!"
Doraemon, sitting on the floor, looked surprised at the name. "The What-If Phone Booth? What do you want that for?"
"A magic world? How about it?" I countered.
"Like the world in Magical Girl Mami?" Doraemon got interested right away!
"That sounds fun!"
Then he pulled out an adult-sized phone booth from his four-dimensional pocket.
"The What-If Phone Booth!"
"Just for a little while, okay! Once you're done playing with magic, we have to restore it to normal!"
Doraemon instructed me as I entered the What-If Phone Booth!
I picked up the receiver in the What-If Phone Booth, feeling complicated emotions.
Slowly, I spoke into the receiver:
"If the world of magic really came true!"
Outside, the What-If Phone Booth's pointer spun in a cross and changed from red to blue, indicating that the effect had taken hold.
Amid the ringing of the phone, it was as if a silent wave spread across the entire world.
In that moment, the fates of two worlds intersected!
"N-Nobita!" Doraemon pulled open the curtains and ran outside to look.
"Wow!"
I quickly ran out too and looked at the sky, where all sorts of people were flying—some on magic carpets, others on flying brooms.
"It's a world of magic!" Doraemon said excitedly.
I ran downstairs and saw Mom using magic to cook in the kitchen.
Mom finished the meal, and the dishes floated over to the dining table!
I understood then—this was definitely the plot of the movie Great Adventure in the Magical World!
