Chapter 14 - A Mother's Rage

"You need to calm down, Julian," I said, standing between him and James. My voice was steadier than I felt. "This isn't helping anyone."

Julian's amber eyes burned into mine, his chest heaving with barely contained fury. The veins in his neck protruded as he glared past me at James, who was still picking himself up from the floor.

"Get out of my way, Aurelia," Julian growled. "This doesn't concern you."

"Doesn't concern me?" I laughed bitterly. "You broke down my door and destroyed my home. You violated my daughter's memorial. How exactly does this not concern me?"

James limped forward, wiping blood from his split lip. "I should go, Lia. This isn't worth—"

"You're not going anywhere!" Julian roared, lunging forward.

I didn't think—I just moved. I planted myself firmly in Julian's path, my hands pressing against his chest. "Enough!"

Julian's eyes flashed dangerously. "Move."

"No." I stood my ground, even as my wolf cowered inside me. "I won't let you hurt him."
