Chapter 47 - A Calculated Embrace and a Bitter Aftertaste

The sound of laughter and clinking glasses echoed through the grand hall of the Silvercrest Pack mansion. I should have been mingling with the guests, playing the role of the gracious Luna hosting another successful event. Instead, I was hidden away in the kitchen like a dirty secret.

Where the hell was Julian?

My irritation grew as I scanned the room for his tall figure. This was supposed to be my night of triumph. The Alpha Council had just approved my proposal for expanding pack territory—a victory that had taken months of careful planning and manipulation.

"Have you seen Alpha Julian?" I asked a passing server, my voice carrying the authority that came with being the woman everyone knew would soon be Luna in truth, not just in Julian's bed.

"I believe he headed toward the kitchen, Ms. Beaumont," the young wolf replied, eyes downcast in respect.

The kitchen? My fingers tightened around my champagne flute. Where Aurelia was.
