My body was still humming from his kiss, my mind reeling as Landon led me through the corridors of the castle. His large hand engulfed mine, the heat of his skin burning through me like a brand.
"Your letter," I stammered, trying to regain some semblance of control. "Don't you want to read—"
"Later," he cut me off, his long strides forcing me to nearly jog beside him. "I have something more pressing to attend to."
My heart hammered against my ribs as the implication of his words sank in. The "something" was me.
When we reached the grand staircase, he suddenly stopped and turned to face me. Those stormy gray eyes bore into mine, searching for something I couldn't name.
"It's time for my reward," he said, his voice low and rough.
Before I could respond, he bent down and scooped me into his arms as if I weighed nothing. I gasped, my arms instinctively wrapping around his neck.
