Chapter 15 - Retribution's Aftertaste

"You really should try the crepes," I said to Leo, casually buttering my toast. "They're divine."

My brother eyed me suspiciously over his coffee cup. "You've been smiling at your eggs for five minutes straight. What exactly are you up to?"

I took a delicate sip of my orange juice, fighting to keep my expression neutral. "Just enjoying breakfast with my favorite brother."

"I'm your only brother," Leo reminded me, his fork paused midway to his mouth. "And that's your 'I've done something' smile."

"I have no idea what you're talking about," I replied, but couldn't help glancing toward the table where Roman sat with Seraphina and his pack members.

Seraphina was cutting into her pancakes, laughing at something Marcus said. Her perfect posture, designer outfit, and that irritatingly musical laugh—all of it screamed of the life I should have had. The life she stole.

But not for much longer.

"Three... two... one..." I whispered, eyes fixed on my plate.
