Chapter 40 - A Princess, a Rogue, and a Terrible Secret

"This is absurd!" Annelise slammed her palm against my desk, her usually composed face contorted with anger. "We have evidence that the Moonstone Princess has been conspiring with rogues for years!"

I sat back in my chair, watching her with a controlled expression that masked the fury building inside me. The accusations against Vanessa had been escalating since the announcement of the summit, and my patience was wearing dangerously thin.

"What evidence?" I asked, my voice deceptively calm. "Show me one shred of concrete proof."

Seraphina stepped forward, her elegant features set in a smug expression that made my wolf snarl beneath my skin.

"Her convenient amnesia, for one," she said, folding her arms. "Six years of her life, completely forgotten? And now she reappears just as the rogue attacks intensify."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Correlation is not causation."
