Chapter 199 - Blamed and Banished

I dabbed my sleeve against my bloodied nose, watching Camille leave with Julian. The sinking feeling in my chest told me that everything was about to get worse. Julian would spin his web of lies, turning her completely against me—I could already see it happening in the cold glare she gave me before disappearing upstairs.

Adrian towered over me, his face an unreadable mask of fury. The Alpha aura he was projecting made it hard to breathe.

"Sit down," he commanded, pointing to the nearest chair.

I obeyed without argument, too drained to fight. My nose had finally stopped bleeding, but my face throbbed with pain. Adrian disappeared into the kitchen and returned with a damp towel and ice pack.

"Hold this against your nose," he said, his voice clipped as he handed me the towel first.

I winced as I pressed the cold cloth to my face. "Thank you."

He didn't respond, just watched me with narrowed eyes as I cleaned away the blood. When I finished, he handed me the ice pack.
