Kael made his decision three days later.
Not during training.
Not in front of the calendar.
Nor after any particularly enlightening conversation with Sylphie.
It happened while he was buying soap.
The shop was located near the central square, and Kael was already at the counter when he noticed a small poster attached to the wall behind the merchant. It wasn't advertising the exhibition itself. It was merely an updated transportation schedule showing changes to the routes over the coming weeks.
One of the lines listed the city where the exhibition would take place.
Kael stared at it.
The merchant noticed.
"Going on a trip?"
"Maybe."
He immediately grimaced.
That word really was cursed.
The man behind the counter pointed at the poster.
"If you're going to the weapons exhibition, buy your ticket early. It always gets crowded close to the date."
Kael looked at him.
"You know about the exhibition?"
"Half the city knows. People come from three different regions."
