Chapter 1 - Prologue

Long ago, there was only an infinite void until the cosmos suddenly began to expand. Suddenly, worlds began to form, realms were created parallel to each other, and from those realms, the Gods emerged.

Fascinated by the creation of the universe, they took to creating their own world. A world with nothing was simply their own playground for creation. Each god claimed domain over a concept and made life on the once empty world. Despite their attempts, there was always something missing from their creations. The gods were not satisfied, so they decided to create a new form of life in their own likeness.

From the dirt of their new world, they created the first humans. While they didn't perfect their creations within the first few attempts, the gods continued to mold humans to their liking. Eventually, their world was filled with the new life of their human creations.

The gods were finally satisfied as their new creations grew their population. They had finally created a new lifeform that revered them as they intended. Humans would worship the gods as their creators and as humans continued to advance, new concepts were created for new gods to claim. Everything seemed like a paradise, however, the Gods peace would not last. For the universe must always remain in balance, and by creating new life, the gods unknowingly created something more. Their new light gave birth to a new pit of darkness.

While the gods continued creating life, on the other side of their world, new creatures began emerging from the darkness of their failures. Beasts of a ferocious nature, similar to their original creations began to roam the world, hunting down their predecessors. Among these new beasts emerged the epitome of the gods human creations. A new lifeform created from the shadows of the human population began to surface, Demons.

Demons began appearing throughout the world, making themselves known with abnormal powers never before seen. The demons harbored a resentment for the gods, having been abandoned at the edge of the world, left to rot and fend for themselves. Where the humans created societies with the gods help, the demons formed their own hierarchy through battle and bloodshed, but it was never enough. They wanted what the humans were given. War broke out, one that would last for thousands of years, coming to be known as The Sundervail War.

The gods, not wanting their favorite creations to perish, granted a new gift to humans. The System, a fragment of their own power, was granted to every human, giving them power over the elements: fire, water, earth, air, lightening, light, and darkness. With this new power, humans were able to hold back the demons assault.

Time passed, and centuries turned to millenniums. Humans lived and passed, generations spending their entire lifespan at war, while demons would live hundreds of years, gaining more experience and power. During this struggle of war, a king emerged among the demons.

The {Demon King}, wielding power that rivaled even the gods, came forth and pushed back the human armies further than ever before. For centuries, the {Demon King} reigned as an absolute monarch, the apex of demon society. Along with his nine lords of sins, demon society thrived like never before. Knowing their humans could perish under this new threat, the gods decided to grant a single human a fraction of the purest form of their divinity. The chosen human would be born with a divine light, granted the title of the {First Hero}.

With this new hero, humans were able to drive the demons back to the edge of the world. The war that had lasted millennium was finally drawing its end as the final battle between the {First Hero} and the {Demon King} began.

Their battle shook the ground, lasting days without rest or end in sight. On the verge of death, the hero was able to erect a barrier to keep the demons sealed at the edge of the world, saving humanity and ending the war. However, it was not without sacrifice, for his wounds were too severe and the {First Hero} passed before seeing his foe follow. In his final moments, the {Demon King} sealed his fate, leaving a prophecy for the future.

And so, I say with final breath

Five thousand years, I will return from Death

From their embrace, red skies rain down

And Heroes blood will stain the ground

A prophecy passed down until this day. The gods, fearing the {Demon King}'s return, prepared numerous countermeasures to ensure another victory. As time passed, peace reined, and demons became a distant memory passed down in stories of old. New kingdoms were formed, and the gods presided in their own realm, watching over the world, waiting for the revival of their greatest adversary.
