Selena threw herself into the training, determined to master the art of Saju. It chased away the depression and sorrow about her past life. Reading what McKenna and that man had done to her had hurt her deeply. She had repeated nightmares of McKenna tormenting her, the intimate moments she shared with Jack on a monitor watched by her cackling, pointing out her scars and aged body. She had some sleepless nights, Ji-Min must have told her mother. One night she was awakened by her, and for the first time, she snuggled with Eun Ho.
She watched the videos, all of them. It was not good for her mental health. Even if it would never happen again, and would never happen, it still happened. Luckily, she had much to learn. Her grandmother, Noe Jin-ae, and her mother, Noe Eun Ho, were her guides, sharing their knowledge and expertise with her.
The days were packed with practice sessions, where Selena would work on improving her accuracy with names and dates of birth, along with approximate times. She approached the task with a mathematical mindset, using her intuition and A.A way to tackle the complex calculations involved in Saju.
As she practiced, Selena began to develop a deeper understanding of the ancient art. She learned how to interpret the subtle energies and patterns that influenced a person's life and how to use this knowledge to gain insight into their personality, strengths, and weaknesses.
She could see it when they were in front of her, but it was incredible knowing what a person's birth date could show her. It was an added certainty, and it helped with both gifts. She saw the certain and the changeable. The curtain was a truncation in the woven web of fate, like a crochet pattern that went all over the place in the instructions, but it eventually worked out.
Sight showed you, through the eyes of others and sometimes the goddess, what could and was going to be possible and what was sure. Her gift from the Kinsman family showed her the possible future, which was changeable. The gift bestowed by the Noe family was the vision of destined events and traits. The epilepsy was intentional, to allow her to use both gifts seamlessly. She would receive prophecies as well. Both gifts could allow her to see what leads up to a certain event and what could be changed, but it hurt. Her grandmother told her that it would ease as she grew older. She was not looking forward to it.
Noe Jin-ae and Noe Eun Ho watched with pride as Selena's skills improved with each passing day. They offered guidance and encouragement, helping her to refine her techniques and build her confidence. As the training progressed, Selena found herself becoming more attuned to the subtle vibrations of the universe.
She began to sense the intricate web of energies that connected all things and to understand how Saju could be used to navigate this complex landscape. The flow of staff and leaders coming through the door tested her skills, and to hear their future earned them more money and prestige. Selena was able to dig deeply and accurately into each new subject she read. She was even more talented when she combined her gifts. It really raised the prestige of the family. These leaders would need to listen to her in the future.
With each discovery, Selena's precision in Saju grew; she was able to stop using her other gifts as she calculated. It was as if the goddess was just whispering in her mind like A.A did. She was determined to become a true master of the art and to use her knowledge to help others. Selena's eyes sparkled with excitement as she quickly calculated destiny.
"Hey Jonah, what's Gunn's birthday?" Selena asked, her pencil poised over her notebook.
"February 13th, 1989," Jonah replied, looking at her curiously. "Saju is interesting, but I'm curious how far you can see, Selena."
Selena just smiled and nodded, her mind already racing with the calculations. As she worked through the complex patterns and energies, Selena's intuition guided her, revealing subtle insights into Gunn's life path.
"Oh, poor Gunn, is his father really that bad?" Selena asked, her eyes scanning the calculations. "Let's invite him over more; his parents are just awful, maybe he'll be less of a prick if he isn't alone with that guy."
Jonah raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, he usually goes to sleep over with Liam. Don't let him know, you know. He is sensitive about it. I cannot believe you were able to see that much."
Selena just frowned. "It's all in the numbers, Jonah. At least it will get better for him. Gunn's going to develop a way to destroy plastic and leave behind graphene, which is used in circuitry and complex electronics in the future. I do not get why he could not"
Jonah's eyes widened. "Gunn's always been passionate about the environment. I can see him doing something like that. What about touch? Can you go to the end of someone's life?"
Selena nodded, pleased with the promising future she saw for Gunn. "What about Jakob and Liam? They are twins like us?" Selena frowned, thinking of Liam.
Jonah nodded enthusiastically. "Definitely! I'm curious to see what you'll discover. Give me embarrassing stuff, Sel."
As Selena prepared to start, Ji-Min interrupted, "Miss, Young Master?" her eyes shining with a mix of sadness and fondness. "Miss, it's time for you to depart," she said, her voice soft.
It was a relief that a suitable heir was found. Perhaps if she had been found sooner, they would have lived in Korea with the Noe vassals instead of America.
It was difficult for the Princess to run the businesses abroad without her mother's assistance. Luckily, Noe Eun Ho was very assertive, and the vassals and politicians were able to follow her orders.
Selena smiled, feeling a pang of affection for her loyal headmaid. "I'll miss you, Ji-Min," she said, opening her arms for a hug. Ji-Min was shocked; did the young miss care about her?
Ji-Min hugged her tightly, "Please come back soon, Miss. We'll miss you. Come back on holiday and during the summer. We'll prepare your favorite foods and activities." Ji-Min softly hugged the Heir.
Selena nodded, feeling grateful for Ji-Min's kindness. "I'll come back soon, Ji-Min. Promise. We will have to go out together again."
As they pulled back from the hug, Jonah called out, "Hey, sis! I brought my golf cart. I'll drive you out."
Selena rolled her eyes and couldn't help laughing as Jonah drove the cart recklessly through the manor gardens. The scenery flew past in a blur - towering trees and sparkling water features.
The wind whipped through Selena's hair as Jonah took a sharp turn, the cart's tires screeching in protest. She laughed, feeling carefree and joyful. Jonah grinned, the exhilaration of speed captivating him.
As they approached the entrance, Jonah pulled off a daredevil maneuver, skidding the cart to a stop just inches from the gate. Eun Ho, who was standing nearby, laughed but also reprimanded Jonah, "Jonah, what are you doing? Driving wild like that! You could have hurt yourselves!"
Jonah grinned, unrepentant. "Aww, come on, Mom. I'm a great driver!"
Selena chuckled, shaking her head. "I think I'll just walk next time, thanks." She fixed her hair. Selena had emerged from the manor dressed in her signature eclectic style.
She wore comfortable ripped jeans, a re-tailored World Wildlife Federation T-shirt that showcased her passion for conservation, and a hoodie sweatshirt that Molly had cleverly modified to resemble a motorcycle jacket. Oversized sunglasses completed her laid-back look.
