Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: I'm Taking My Talents to Genjutsu

"Genjutsu, simply put, is a type of jutsu that uses chakra to interfere with an enemy's five senses, thereby trapping them in an illusion," Shinku began his explanation in a serious tone. The five senses refer to sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Most genjutsu are primarily visual.

The most classic visual genjutsu is undoubtedly the Sharingan. There's a saying in the ninja world: when fighting an Uchiha, never look at their Sharingan. Because one look and you'll explode... oh, wait, no, you'll be caught in a genjutsu.

"If two genjutsu users fight, the outcome is determined by their Yin Release power, which is their spiritual energy," Shinku said, looking at Hagawa. "Your spiritual energy is naturally stronger, which is why you are suited to learn genjutsu."

"What about mine?" Kurenai couldn't help but ask.

"Yours is also stronger than your peers'," Shinku said, pausing without finishing his thought. If Kurenai's genjutsu talent was a 6,000, Hagawa's was at least a 10,000. But that didn't mean her talent was poor. In fact, before meeting Hagawa, Kurenai was the most talented genjutsu user he had ever seen—with the exception of the Uchiha clan. They didn't care about talent; as long as they unlocked their eyes, they could use genjutsu.

"Alright, that's enough talk. Let's try it firsthand," Shinku said, clapping his hands. "We'll start with the most basic genjutsu, the Mist Servant Technique."

The Mist Servant Technique was a D-rank jutsu that summoned terrifying black phantoms to frighten the enemy. The phantoms moved slowly and had no offensive power, but their greatest advantage was that they would split when attacked. It was somewhat like a special type of shadow clone.

"Watch closely and learn well," Shinku said, slightly slowing down his hand seals. Soon, a humanoid black shadow emerged from behind the sofa, radiating a cold aura. Having been prepared, Hagawa and Kurenai were naturally not frightened. This jutsu was only effective as a sneak attack.

"Your turn," Shinku said, dispelling the illusion and looking at them with anticipation. It had taken him a full day to learn this jutsu, but with Hagawa's and Kurenai's superior talent, perhaps they could learn it in half a day.

Shinku blinked, then froze. In front of Hagawa, a humanoid black shadow had abruptly appeared. For a moment, Shinku felt like he himself was caught in a genjutsu. The speed was far beyond his expectations.

"Damn it!" Kurenai looked at the empty space in front of her, her face full of unwillingness. Her talent truly was no match for Hagawa's. But she quickly shook off her frustration, and after a few more tries, she finally succeeded in casting the Mist Servant Technique. The only thing was, the black phantom she summoned wasn't humanoid; it looked more like some kind of Abnormal Titan.

"Kurenai, your talent is indeed better than mine," Shinku said with a gratified look. But Kurenai didn't feel happy at all. Comparison is the thief of joy; compared to Hagawa, she was still lacking.

"Uncle Shinku, can you teach us the second genjutsu?" Hagawa asked, looking at the new Trait that had just appeared.

"Although you've learned the Mist Servant Technique, you are not yet proficient," Shinku said seriously. "After practicing for two days, I will teach you a new genjutsu. Remember not to be too hasty."

"Uncle Shinku, look." Hagawa clapped his hands together, and in an instant, a humanoid black shadow appeared.

"This... How is this possible?" Shinku's eyes widened.

"..." Kurenai was speechless. Not only did he learn the jutsu in such a short time, but he's already completely mastered it?

The proficiency of a jutsu is judged by its casting speed and power. Hagawa's second casting was significantly faster than his first, basically reaching the maximum casting speed for the Mist Servant Technique. The reason, of course, was that he was using a cheat.

[E-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Mist Servant Technique]

Activation Condition: Successfully cast this jutsu.

Effect: This jutsu automatically reaches the proficient level.

Note: Has one evolution path. Three E-Rank Genjutsu Traits can be synthesized into the D-Rank Trait [Genjutsu Genin].

Once the Trait was acquired, a massive amount of experience flooded Hagawa's mind, as if he had practiced it countless times.

"Your talent is even greater than I imagined!" Shinku exclaimed, snapping back to reality. It had been a long time since a proper genjutsu powerhouse had emerged in the ninja world, as all the fame had been stolen by the Uchiha clan's Sharingan. But now, Hagawa gave him hope. Perhaps that day would truly come. As his student, the Yuhi name could become famous, perhaps even becoming the Yuhi Clan.

"..." Hagawa fell silent as he looked at Shinku's expression. What was he supposed to say? I'm taking my talents to the Yuhi household?

"I will now teach you the second genjutsu," Shinku said, taking a deep breath. "Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique."

Hagawa's eyes lit up. This genjutsu was quite famous in the original series; both Orochimaru and Kakashi had used it. Although it was still a D-rank jutsu, its power far surpassed the Mist Servant Technique. It could show an enemy the most terrifying scene in their heart, achieving a psychologically devastating effect.

After Hagawa cast it once, a new Trait was successfully acquired.

[E-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique]

Activation Condition: Successfully cast this jutsu.

Effect: This jutsu automatically reaches the proficient level.

Note: Has one evolution path. Three E-Rank Genjutsu Traits can be synthesized into the D-Rank Trait [Genjutsu Genin].

Hagawa took a breath. With his current chakra reserves, casting three jutsu in a row had mostly drained him. This was why the Academy only taught the three basic jutsu at the beginning. But Hagawa didn't stop, continuing to ask Shinku to teach him a third genjutsu. After all, he was about to synthesize a new Trait. Giving up halfway would be like an "action movie" suddenly freezing. If he "misfired" at this moment, it would ruin the sense of ceremony.

Shinku had already acknowledged his talent. Seeing that he still had some energy left, he agreed.

[E-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Illusionary Art: Three-Part Cherry Blossom]

Activation Condition: Successfully cast this jutsu.

Effect: This jutsu automatically reaches the proficient level.

Note: Has one evolution path. Three E-Rank Genjutsu Traits can be synthesized into the D-Rank Trait [Genjutsu Genin].

This illusion allowed the user to attack while the enemy was distracted by seeing fluttering flower petals. In terms of effect, it was inferior to the Hell Viewing Technique, serving only to confuse the enemy's vision.

Hagawa's chakra was nearly depleted, so he sat down to rest. The reason he could learn so quickly, besides his talent, was that these three jutsu had a low learning difficulty.

Kurenai, having witnessed the outrageous scene, fell silent for a moment before suddenly smiling with a sense of relief. This is a man among men, a genius among geniuses. How can I possibly win? It turns out... I'm just an ordinary person.
