It was registration day, so it was particularly lively. Haneul spotted two familiar figures: Yugao Uzuki and her father. "Kurenai, you go to the classroom first. I'm going to see a former patient of mine," he said, patting her head.
He walked over to the first-year classroom, where his appearance immediately drew attention.
"Big brother!" Yugao saw him and ran over happily.
"Call me Big Brother Haneul," he corrected.
"Big Brother Haneul," she complied.
Before he could speak, he was surrounded by the new students. "Are you Haneul? The number one student at the academy?" They looked at him with a mixture of curiosity, admiration, and awe. He was a school legend.
"Yes, I'm Haneul," he nodded, surprised by his own popularity.
He ended up holding an impromptu meet-and-greet, discovering several familiar names among the new students: the future gate gods, Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane; the frail but skilled Hayate Gekko; the one who would deeply influence Naruto, Iruka Umino; and a not-yet-dango-obsessed Anko Mitarashi. The first-year instructor could only watch in stunned silence as his entire class was hijacked.
After escaping the crowd, he had just sat down when Rin Nohara approached him, looking hesitant. "Haneul, it's about... medical ninjutsu," she said shyly. "I don't know what to do next." She had read all the medical books but, as a civilian, had no path for further advancement before graduation.
"That," he said, stroking his chin. "You can try increasing your chakra control."
"How do I do that?" she asked eagerly.
"How about this," he said casually. "Train with us after school, and I'll teach you."
"Thank you!" Rin was stunned, then deeply grateful.
"It's nothing," he smiled. "We're all friends."
He just hoped Tsunade wouldn't be late for the opening ceremony, as Hiruzen's speech was coming up. Sure enough, after four years of listening, he found that the speech hadn't changed at all. Just then, a commotion started, and he saw Tsunade. Without a second thought, he ran.
"Are we going to the casino today?" he asked as he caught up, a way of repaying his debt for being saved from the speech.
"No," she shook her head.
"Huh?" he was shocked. "Who are you? You're not my master!"
"Brat!" she rapped him on the head.
"So what are we doing?"
"Going to the hospital," she said, ruffling his hair. "You've learned most of the medical ninjutsu, but you're still missing one thing."
"What?"
"As a medical ninja, you must not only know how to cure poison, but also how to make it," she said grimly.
The two of them arrived at the hospital. "The reason we're not going to the casino is because there's a patient who needs urgent surgery," she explained as they walked. "He was poisoned by a Sand Village puppet master."
The patient was an Anbu, and to protect his identity, all the assisting medical ninja were Jonin, except for Haneul. "Haneul," Tsunade instructed, "use the Delicate Illness Extraction Technique to draw out the poison into this test tube."
"Yes," he complied.
Two hours later, the surgery was over, and Tsunade took him to a lab-like room. "Whether it's detoxification or poison-making, you must first understand the poison's components," she said. He understood what she was doing. Aren't we ninja? Why is this so scientific? he thought wryly.
The day passed quickly, and he was rewarded with a new trait.

"Ah!" Tsunade sighed, collapsing face-first onto the sofa. The impact made her clothes strain, showing off their impressive elasticity.
"Master, you didn't take off your shoes," he reminded her.
"I taught you all day. Shouldn't you show some appreciation?" she said, turning over and wiggling her toes in her high-heeled sandals. The meaning was clear.
"Alright," he said, walking over and taking off her shoes, revealing a pair of pale, delicate feet. Looking at the exhausted Tsunade, he asked, "Master, do you need a massage?"
"Mhm," she closed her eyes, not refusing.
He sat on the sofa, lifted her legs, and placed them on his own lap. He began to gently massage the sole of her left foot. "That tickles a bit," she murmured, her toes curling instinctively. He eased up for a moment, then continued. Soon, he heard her steady breathing. She had fallen asleep. He continued, moving his hands up to massage her calves. It was a pity her thighs were so far away. He had long wanted to touch... no, massage them.
"You can go make dinner now," she said half an hour later, yawning.
"Mhm," he released her legs and went to the kitchen.
