Chapter 4 - the soul deal

Traahi's entire body surged with immense energy. His eyes glowed bright red with fury.

Leela, trembling with fear, stumbled backward and fell to the ground.

Traahi didn't even touch him.

He simply walked past him—

And that was enough.

Leela started convulsing on the floor… and died on the spot.

---

Without stopping, Traahi stormed ahead toward the party hall.

When he arrived, what he saw shattered his heart—

His wife was lying on the ground, writhing in pain.

He rushed to her.

She gasped, her voice weak and broken,

"T-They… they killed our son… burned him alive… inside the house…"

She clutched Traahi's hand, tears streaming from her eyes.

"And those people… the ones you used to trust with your life… n-not even one of them stood with us."

"Promise me… these people—who let our whole family die… people I called my own… when the time came… not one of them stood with us… T-Traahi, not a single—"

Before she could finish…

Her eyes rolled back.

She collapsed in his arms.

---

Traahi let out a thunderous scream toward the heavens.

From across the flames, the prince shouted,

"Guards! Arrest him!"

A few soldiers rushed toward him.

But the moment Traahi looked at them…

They collapsed.

Dead.

They were mere mortals—no match for his awakened power.

---

Traahi marched straight toward the prince.

"Why are you all just standing there!? Waiting for me to kill him!? ATTACK!"

The prince screamed.

A few elite warriors stepped forward to protect their ruler, unleashing their powers in an attempt to stop Traahi.

But this was a small kingdom.

There weren't many powerful warriors.

Traahi tore through them one by one—

Unstoppable.

He reached the prince and grabbed him by the throat.

"Not just you—your entire kingdom will fall.

And your father… he'll be in the afterlife soon.

Tell him to save a seat for you."

The prince struggled, panicked.

"Wait! I'm rich! Take all my wealth! I can give you anything! Please, spare me!"

Traahi paused for a moment.

The prince smirked.

"Thank you. You won't regret this.

I knew you were reasonable.

I knew I'd survive—"

But Traahi's voice thundered:

"Can you bring back my wife and son?"

Silence.

No one moved. No one dared speak.

"No?

Then how could you think… you'd be spared?"

He raised his hand.

From the ground, monstrous beasts erupted—

And began devouring the prince alive.

---

With his wife's lifeless body in his arms, Traahi flew into the sky.

Behind him, the entire city burned—

Just like his son had.

---

He walked across scorched land, holding her tightly, until he reached a secluded place.

He stopped and looked upward.

"Dattayaraj! I have come! Hear my call!"

The clouds above turned pitch black, spiraling down like a storm.

Two figures descended.

One of them—Dattayaraj, the demon lord—spoke:

"This is him. The one with the special soul."

A woman beside him looked at Traahi and asked coldly:

"Do you wish to surrender yourself to us?"

Traahi replied firmly,

"If you promise to bring my wife back to life… I'll serve you. I'll do anything."

The woman scoffed.

"Don't think you're special. You're not even a demon.

You're just a human.

And the fact that we're even considering bonding you to us…

That alone is a privilege."

---

But then… her eyes fell on the woman in Traahi's arms.

She narrowed her eyes and asked,

"Is she the granddaughter of Devdatta?"

Traahi paused.

"I… I'm not sure. But I've heard that name from her lips several times."

The woman looked more serious now.

"Do you have a child?"

"I had a son… but he's gone."

Her expression softened. She looked away.

"We may already be too late…

Wait—no.

There's still a chance."

Traahi's eyes lit up.

"Tell me—what must I do?"

She replied,

"Nothing too difficult.

You'll have to find a few individuals whose help we need to revive her.

And… you'll need to collect some sacred treasures."

Traahi didn't hesitate.

"I'll do whatever it takes.

Just preserve her body and tell me where to go… what to find."

She raised her hand toward the sky.

"Don't rush. Come with us."

A cloud-like platform formed in front of Traahi.

"Step on it."

He obeyed.

The cloud lifted him up into the stormy skies.

They soared through the clouds, entering a shimmering portal in the sky.

---

Inside, the woman pointed to a crystal slab and said:

"Lay her down there."

Traahi gently placed his wife on the surface.

The woman began chanting ancient spells.

A moment later—

Her body was encased in solid ice.
