Lyra stared at the message from Josh, her mind racing. She'd known him briefly through a mutual acquaintance, but had never expected him to reach out like this. The Twitter message was clear:

"I have proof that your cousin is lying about the whole Julian Blackwood situation. Call me when you can. This is bigger than you think."

She locked her phone quickly as Orla's shrill laugh cut through the dining room. The Covington family dinner had barely begun, and already tension hung in the air like a storm cloud.

"Lyra, could you pass the salt?" Orla asked with exaggerated politeness, her smile not reaching her eyes. "Or is that too difficult for you?"

Before Lyra could respond, Penelope Quinn—Percival's sister-in-law and Sebastian's wife—leaned forward, her diamond earrings catching the light. "I heard you were quite rude to the catering staff at the charity gala last week, Lyra. That's hardly becoming of someone associated with the Covington name."
