"Yes, there is. And she is Lixenda's child. The rightful heir to the throne of Mavenixa," The queen stated with a small, brittle smile.
For a while Zeenare stared at his mother, then slowly started nodding, pressing his lips in a thin line. "Lixenda? Your late friend who was rumored to be killed for breaking the sacred law?" he challenged.
"That is not the point," The queen dismissed him.
"Then what is the point? Bringing up a ghost, who was killed by her aunt for me to marry?" Zeenare shot back. "Mother, I don't get you."
"Zeenare, that is the problem. You need to start getting me. This curse you got yourself into isn't the plan your father and I had for you."
Zeenare remained silent.
"Do you know how hard I have tried breaking you free from it?" She voiced, frustration etching her face. "But since it's not working, we have to face the bigger picture and move on."
