Chapter 13: HELLO NEW FACE

Soo-hoo walked into the classroom, his expression as blank as always.

A boy and a girl—both clearly eager to see him—approached immediately.

The girl's hair was dyed a rich wine color, falling perfectly over her shoulders.

The boy beside her had natural blonde hair and a mischievous grin.

"Hey! Soo-hoo!" the boy called out, reaching to hug him.

But Soo-hoo simply shot him a glare so cold it could freeze the sun and brushed past them without a word.

The classroom itself was an ordinary size, but the atmosphere buzzed with energy. Students laughed, whispered, and exchanged gossip—especially the girls. Some were too busy stealing glances at Soo-hoo to notice anything else.

As Soo-hoo turned away, the wine-haired girl tilted her head, her eyes narrowing. The blonde boy followed her gaze and spotted something odd on Soo-hoo's back.

"Wait… what's that?" the boy asked, curious.

Soo-hoo ignored him.

But the murmurs grew. "Is that… makeup?" someone whispered.

Annoyed, Soo-hoo finally shrugged off his jacket—and saw it. A palm-sized smudge, brownish in color, with two small holes in the middle, shaped like a perfect circle. His brows knitted together instantly.

Only one person came to mind.

Ju-kyoung.

---

Outside the classroom, Ju-kyoung stood behind the door, holding up a small mirror and inspecting her face.

She exhaled in relief. "For a second, I thought my makeup had smudged."

She dipped her fingers into her foundation and gently patted her cheek.

Suddenly, Soo-hoo stormed out, his eyes blazing. Without a word, he tossed his jacket right at her. The force knocked her mirror to the floor, the glass shattering into two uneven pieces.

Ju-kyoung stared at him, speechless, then glanced down at the jacket in her hands. Her brows furrowed.

"Hey!" she shouted after him, but he was already gone, disappearing back into the classroom without a backward glance.

She crouched down, picking up the broken mirror. "I just bought this…" she muttered. Her voice was pitiful, but no tears fell—she couldn't risk ruining her makeup over a stupid broken mirror.

---

Moments later, a familiar voice rang out.

"This is your new classmate, Lim Ju-kyoung," the homeroom teacher announced from the doorway.

Ju-kyoung stepped forward, still holding Soo-hoo's jacket, and faced the class. The students' eyes widened in admiration, a soft wave of murmurs rippling through the room.

"Would you like to introduce yourself?" the teacher asked.

Ju-kyoung nodded slightly, turning to face the room. For some reason, her nerves didn't bother her this time.

"Hi. Nice to meet you."

The class erupted into cheers. "You're so pretty!" voices shouted from all corners.

Ju-kyoung smiled to herself. Being pretty changes everything.

Her eyes scanned the room, catching the warm, curious stares of her new classmates—until they landed on one face. Soo-hoo's. He looked completely uninterested, his cold eyes fixed elsewhere. She quickly looked away.

"The average attractiveness of our class just went up!" someone called from the back.

"Hyun! Don't say things like that," the teacher scolded.

"You all look beautiful to me," the teacher continued with a small smile. "From afar… and even more up close."

The class groaned and laughed.

"You're so lame," a boy joked.

Ignoring them, the teacher said calmly, "You have no idea how beautiful you really are. Just being eighteen is already thrilling. So don't try to be something you're not. Especially you, Hyun."

The blonde boy—Hyun—only grinned. He was handsome in his own right, with striking blue eyes, but compared to Soo-hoo… he still fell short.

---

"Ju-kyoung, take the empty seat next to Soo-hoo," the teacher instructed.

Ju-kyoung froze. She glanced at Soo-hoo's death glare and gulped.

Nope.

"I… have bad eyesight," she said quickly. It wasn't entirely a lie—her lenses didn't fix her vision completely.

The teacher's eyes softened. "Oh, really? In that case… sit behind Su-ah."

A girl with short bobbed hair and warm brown eyes waved at her from two rows away.

Relieved, Ju-kyoung smiled. "Okay."

As she walked past, she could feel the admiring stares following her every step.

---

When the class began, the teacher wrote on the board.

"Do you all remember what we covered last time?"

"Yes!" the class replied in unison.

He chuckled. "Of course you don't."

They laughed.

Su-ah leaned over and turned Ju-kyoung's book to the right page. "Here," she said warmly.

"Thanks," Ju-kyoung whispered.

---

By the end of the period, something surprising happened—people actually stayed behind to talk to her.

Su-ah spun her chair to face her. "I saw you at the gate this morning," she said.

"You did?" Ju-kyoung asked.

Another girl joined them, sliding into the chair beside her. "Hello, new face," she said with a smile. Her features were simple but pretty in a natural way.

Su-ah pulled out her phone. "What's your number? Type it in for me."

Ju-kyoung complied, handing it back.

"What's your Instagram handle?" Su-ah asked.

"I… don't have one," Ju-kyoung admitted.

"What?! Why not? Are you trying to be mysterious?" Su-ah gasped.

"You'd get so many followers," the other girl added.

"She's right," Su-ah agreed, her gaze drifting to Ju-kyoung's lips. "What lip tint do you use?"

Ju-kyoung smiled, reaching into her pocket. "Well, it's—"

Before she could finish, the lip tint slipped from her hand, rolling across the floor. She bent to pick it up, but someone got there first.

A girl knelt down, holding it out. She was breathtaking—long black hair, luminous skin, and eyes that seemed to shine under the classroom lights. Her beauty was effortlessly natural, not touched by makeup.

"Here," the girl said in a soft, melodic voice.

"Thanks," Ju-kyoung replied, unable to stop staring. Even her voice is gorgeous…
