Chapter 105 - Chapter 105

The sky darkened.

Akashi and the remaining waterbender units lifted their heads.

'Thought that she was not allowed to interfere. Did she break through the mental shackles that they put her, or did her uncle beg her, for the sake of peace. I mean, that's a conflict of interests, no?'

Korra floated above everyone, glaring at them and giving them a taste of the Avatar State's power.

Truth be told, in this world she was less nerfed. In canon, she kicked Vaatu's ass, easily the strongest spirit. Yet she struggled at the festival against that small dark spirit. That wouldn't happen in this world.

What Akashi didn't know was that he was half right.

Korra and her uncle had heard the commotion and the noises of the rebels fighting the fleet. Their target had been Unalaq, and their plan had been to kidnap him. Of course, Korra, who was training under him, would have heard it, as would her uncle.

Korra was about to interfere, but her uncle stopped her. Just as the rebels were about to be captured, Akashi intervened. Her uncle had assured her that they wouldn't dare to kill him or do anything, and wanted her to hold back.

But what her uncle hadn't accounted for was how Akashi managed to take down an entire trained unit by creating a cloud of smoke and clapping. Well, he hadn't been sure if it was clapping or not. But that was what he had heard.

Next came that massive wave. Of course, Unalaq thought it had dealt with Akashi, while Korra didn't seem worried about him getting hit, which made him nervous.

Korra, on the other hand, raced against Akashi. She knew that dodging a slow wave was child's play to him.

And then it happened. Akashi beat up the units from behind, sending them flying. Unalaq, far away, hadn't been able to alert his men and urged Korra to intervene, saying it could cause more hatred between the two tribes.

Korra just shrugged and said she would.

She waited, happily observing how everyone was getting beaten.

Then, when everyone noticed him and Akashi had sustained some wounds, she decided it was time to interfere. It wasn't like he was invincible after all, and he wouldn't be able to take them down on his own.

But truthfully, she was thankful. It felt like he had gotten her justice after seeing her misery at not being able to do anything for her people. That's why she delayed her interference on purpose.

Let's say Unalaq's facial expression was far from happy.

Everyone stopped and looked at her as she descended.

"Stop fighting. Everyone, get back to your places before it escalates." Korra said. In her Avatar State, her voice thundered, roaring in everyone's ears. It seemed to be an application of airbending, thanks to the experience of one of the previous Avatars.

"How can we let it go," spoke a soldier, pointing to the men on the ground, "We were doing our job, when this man attacked us. He must be handed to justice."

The other soldiers nodded.

Unalaq arrived at the scene, gliding on the ice. He stopped, hands behind his back.

"This is a crime. I demand Akashi to be arrested," Unalaq said.

Korra and Akashi stared at each other.

Korra pointed in one direction, as if telling him to get on that spinning ball and run away.

Akashi shook his head.

"Akashi." Unalaq went to Akashi, and said, "You're arrested. Avatar, even though he's your boyfriend, he needs to be handed to justice."

"Can't do that, uncle. Remember." Korra smirked, knowing that they couldn't do a thing about him.

"Whether they demand something or not. It's just a local guy that they have to deal with. Avatar is out of business since I'm not tyrant threatening the world." Akashi looked at Unalaq, putting his head on his taller uncle-in-law's jaw. "Wanna try to stop me."

"You…" Unalaq clenched his jaw, "You're threatening the Avatar's teacher."

"You're trying to take down the Avatar's boyfriend?" Akashi replied, not wanting to back down.

Unalaq lifted his hand, and his men broke the formation. He was ready for a fight. Akashi was ruining his plans.

Seeing that waterbenders were approaching him from every direction, Akashi quickly turned to face Unalaq, grabbed him from behind, held him by the neck, and choked him.

Korra opened her eyes wide, but didn't intervene.

Akashi spoke in a voice that nobody wanted to hear.

"I know that you are the one who provoked the rebellion." Akashi whispered in Unalaq's ear, "And you want to bribe the judges and frame your brother…"

Unalaq opened his eyes wide.

"Don't worry, I'm bending the sound waves." Akashi looked forward. "Speak as you like. I know everything since I can hear everything."

Not really. But sometimes he could pick up the sound waves he focused on.

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"That dark spirit that attacked the festival. It seems that it was affected by the same type of energy the dark spirit produce." Akashi replied, "you made the spirits dark, that for sure, in order to show your skills for Korra. But in fact, you're lifting your dark spell on them. I can assume that you want Korra to

"However, you're taking things too quickly." Akashi said. "Once you'd provoke the rebellion and try to execute your brother, korra would investigate and find about you. Vatuu would never get free. Matter of fact, I'm helping you with my action, you stupid son of a bitch."

Unalaq turned his eyes and looked at Akashi, eyes wide open. His heart started pounding so fast that even someone not like Akashi would have heard it.

"You… are you setting a trap to me." Unalaq asked.

"Why would I?" Akashi asked, "Killing you right here and right now would ruin your plans."

"Why are you doing this then?" he asked.

"Because… let's say, airbenders are spiritual benders. But I don't share the same philosophy as them. An unbalanced word will only collapse." Akashi replied, "Now, we don't have much time to chit chat now. Tell your men and Korra that once the other portal is opened, you'll leave to the North Pole, and the people will be left to vote if they want them or not. It's the best course of action."

Unalaq pondered for a while.

He lifted his hand.
