While Korra was trying to order her thoughts, Akashi had decided to take on the Dark Avatar. He wasn't without hope. After all, the latter, despite how powerful he had become, was still in a nerfed state—and it wasn't even the studio that got him into that.
The water tentacles around Unalaq's hands turned dark purple, heading toward Akashi at a speed that would be hard to react to.
Having high reflexes already, Akashi dodged and punched in the air, sending a sharp compressed air jet. But his uncle-in-law parried it with an armor of water.
'Water absorbs waves. And, fusing with Vaatu increased his vitality and reaction speeds. But, he thinks he's the smartest one here, so, let's see.'
Akashi turned his eyes to see that Korra's cousins, also shocked by their father's actions, were trying to distract him with a few water attacks.
Korra quickly reacted, appearing forward and standing in front of them, bending their water attacks back at them.
"What are you doing? Your father is trying to end the world, and you attack the one who tries to stop him?" scolded Korra.
"There is no way father is doing that? He's the wisest person ever." Responded the male from the twins. "He's a reason to say that."
"What could that be?" Korra replied, seeming to finally start accepting the reality.
Her uncle was never the person she had thought he was.
He was a manipulative bastard who had been scheming things for a long time.
And the fact that he had admitted to Akashi he would kill her had broken any excuse she would make up for him.
Her cousins' eyelids shook as their eyes moved forward to the battle.
On the other hand, Akashi used the chance, creating around two massive wind Rasengans.
"Don't need help, for now." Akashi demanded, not wanting any reduction in his experience points.
Then, he threw the Rasengans. Korra's uncle, unfamiliar with this airbending technique, created a layer of ice in front of him to parry it.
BOOM. BOOM.
Two massive air spheres with thousands of air blades surrounded him and attacked him. Not to mention, the shockwave. Everything became blurry inside the massive air storm. And there was even some blood. But soon, that storm turned dark purple before vanishing.
The Dark Avatar stood there, many wounds around his body. He clapped his hand. A massive amount of water moved from this spirit world's lakes, dancing around him. A portion of that water stuck to his body, and it healed his wounds in a short while.
"Not fair…" Akashi complained.
Unalaq did some bending stance. The water tentacles were small no more. Massive jets of water headed toward him. Each was pressurized and fast enough to turn his body into shreds if they hit him.
Activating flight skill, Akashi moved between the massive tentacles.
'Can't attack him from the front. Need to catch him off guard.'
Despite dodging, he couldn't find an opening to attack.
Unalaq waved his hands, controlling the water to surround Akashi. But the latter was too fast to get caught and moved out of the way, not giving his uncle-in-law a chance to trap him.
"Annoying fly… If I weren't sick…" Unalaq complained, looking at Akashi.
"Then, let me take control." Echoed a sound. But it came from nowhere other than Unalaq's chest.
"What… No!" Unalaq yelled. "Vaatu, we had a deal."
"And you believed that I share the same views as an idiot such as you," said Vaatu.
"NO!" Akashi screamed.
If the sick human who's called Unalaq no longer controlled the Dark Avatar, then the difficulty of this battle would rise.
While the human and spirit were fighting over control of the body, Akashi flew as fast as he could and appeared in front of Unalaq. He waved his hand forward, creating a vacuum that surrounded Unalaq and Vaatu. And then, with a clap, he created a massive deadly sound wave.
Blood splashed from everywhere.
"Would be dead if I hadn't taken over. Half a dead body is better than nothing." Unalaq, no, Vaatu, looked at Akashi and smirked. "To create emptiness to pull out the internal organs is a smart move that ancient airbenders never did. But, with the dark energy, you can't pull me."
Dark purplish energy surrounded that body. A humanoid form of a spirit surrounded him with red eyes.
"So, did I do all of that for nothing?" Akashi asked, clearly frustrated as he looked at Korra. "Korra, your uncle is dead and the dark spirit took over him. A little help here?"
Kill steal, so be it.
Let's say her cousins didn't take the news well and got depressed.
Vaatu, no longer bending elements, pointed to Akashi with his hand and released a massive dark beam that was supposed to swallow him.
But, his reflection and speed were high enough for him to vanish before it happened.
Vaatu lifted his head, looking at Akashi floating in the sky.
Korra nodded reluctantly. Her eyes glowed in blue.
A massive jet of fire got Vaatu, who created a barrier to protect himself.
Seeing this as a chance, Akashi slipped from the blind spot of Vaatu, holding a compressed vacuum air ball in his hand, before releasing it forward, creating a strong air beam carrying a massive shockwave.
Vaatu turned his eyes to Akashi, glaring at him. From that reaction, Akashi concluded that he did some damage to the dark spirit.
'Don't want to use that spirit-killing attack for the backlash. So, I'll drain him slowly.' Akashi thought.
Vaatu lifted his hand, gathering energy above his hand.
But before he could do a thing, Korra bent two massive rocks, compressed them into a smaller, denser size, and hit Vaatu with them on the head.
The gathered energy vanished. Akashi created a distance and flew backward, crossing a few hundred meters. It may have seemed that he was running, but he was planning for a dangerous attack—a double-edged sword.
And then, he removed air resistance around him, created an air sphere around his fist, and flew forward, accelerating without limit.
Akashi appeared behind Vaatu's unguarded back—well, it was guarded by dark spiritual energy.
And he punched him with a speed that exceeded the speed of sound. Maybe Mach three or four. He could have gone for more, but he didn't want to end up vaporizing himself.
And at the moment of collision, Akashi controlled the shockwave that tried to hit him and tried to redirect as much as he could to Vaatu.
There was a reason why he used air around his fist, and so that he could bend the shockwave before it hit him.
Akashi's fist went numb, blood gushing out of his arm.
[-200 HP]
And Vaatu flew to the tree of time, hitting against it, falling down.
Korra looked at Akashi, eyes wide open, seeming not to believe what he had just done.
"Seal him…" Akashi urged. "Don't look at me."
He didn't hear the winning notification.
Korra took a bending stance… but.
"Too late," came Vaatu's voice. Half of Unalaq's body seemed to be missing as he stood up. The dark energy grew denser and bigger. The dark spirit continued growing in size, reaching a height that would make it exceed a mountain.
"Fucking Vaatu Uchiha." Akashi clicked his tongue. He turned to his girlfriend. "Korra. Call the previous Avatars to help."
