Chapter 27 - Ch 27 - Shares

Peter's POV

Nov 9

Sometimes, I wonder. Is this a dream? Am I going to wake up one day? Because no matter how many times I see it, I still can't believe it.

[Total Checking: $129,569.87]

It's just… so much money.

If I'm being honest, I wasn't sure about it. One day, Leo dragged me and Ned into an empty room and suggested we make a company, Omni Work.

That we could make a game, Flappy Bird. About a bird flapping between pipes.

But with Uncle Ben gone, and the bills piling up. It's not like I had anything to lose, so I gave it a shot.

I wasn't expecting much, especially when Leo told me I'm only getting 15%. The same as Ned, while he and Harry got 35%.

Though, it's probably fair. Since it was Leo's idea, and Harry's original investment.

We made Flappy Bird in a day. Well, we made the code in a day. Leo mentioned designing the art over a weekend.

Two weeks after it went up on the App Store, Leo sent me a check for over $200. It wasn't much, but it was better than anything.

Two weeks later, Leo sent me a check for over $800.

It took me an hour to process it, and two hours to convince my aunt to let me help with the bill.

Then, two weeks ago, I got a check for $40,000. I stared at it for two hours until Aunt May walked in and snapped me out of my trance.

After calling Leo and making sure it wasn't a mistake. That's when I learned the shocking truth. Flappy Bird was making almost $37,000... a day.

This morning, I got another check for $95,000.

Last week, Flappy Bird made $50,000…. a day.

A mobile game we made in a day. Made $50,000 in one day, and I thought a spider giving me powers would be the craziest thing to ever happen to me.

=====

Harry Osborn's POV

Thank God, that took way too long.

Freakin' Leo, if you want to hire people. Give me a goddamn notice. We're a tech company, we can't just hire people willy-nilly.

We need NDAs, a payroll, lawyers. This shit isn't easy, but no. They just expected me to wave my magic wand, and suddenly everything is legal and safe.

Knock, knock, knock.

A sigh left my mouth as a trio of knocks echoed from my bedroom door.

What does he want now?

"Come in!"

He stepped into my room. Wearing his black suit, and green tie like always.

When was the last time he wore anything else?

"Hello, Harry," he greeted.

"Hey...do you need something?" I'm kind of in the middle of something.

"It's nothing important."

Glancing around my room, his eyes landed on my desk.

He stared at the picture of me and Mom. An old one, I think we took it during my ninth birthday.

"I just wanted to ask how you're doing? How's business?" He asked,

Is he serious?

"....good?" How the hell am I supposed to respond to that?

He picked up Mom's picture, wiping some dust off around the edges before setting it back down.

"A board member suggested opening an Instagram account, what do you think?" What is happening? Is he asking for advice?

"It's….complicated. If you want to make an official Oscorp account, it might take a moment."

"Explain."

Well, guess I'm doing this.

"On Instagram, you can choose whatever name you want. I'm pretty sure there's like, five Oscorps."

He frowned.

"We have a verification system. A little blue checkmark, but we're understaffed at the moment so it's a slow process."

"Is there any way to- accelerate the process?"

Seriously?

A sigh left my mouth.

"Let me check with our head coder, Ned. But since you're requesting it in person. We can probably speed up the process."

"Thank you."

What is my life?

=====

Ned Leeds' POV

"You sure you can afford this kid, with tax it's going to be over a thousand dollars."

"Oh, I'm sure." I've never been so sure of anything else.

"Alright kid."

The cashier swiped my card, making me the owner of a USC, 2005, Lego Death Star.

I can wait to show Peter this.

Lately, everything's just been so awesome. Sure, it was hard at first. Sleep pretty much vanished when we were making Instagram, but now.

We own a building. Leo and Harry's hiring people, and with my cut of the profit. I can finally buy that Lego Death Star that I wanted for years, but could never afford.

I can't wait to show Peter. Maybe I should surprise him. Show up to his front door, box in hand.

I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees it. It's going to be awesome.

=====

Gwen's POV

My mouth hurts so much.

"Almooooost."

With a final metal snap, I became braces free.

"Done," Dr. Leslie pulled her hand out of my mouth. "Soooo, how is it?"

She handed me a mirror.

For the next minute or so, I stared into my reflection. Mouth wide open, tongue feeling every tooth and crevice.

"It feels….weird." My teeth feel naked.

Dr. Leslie just chuckled. "It's going to feel weird for a moment, but it'll fade quickly."

"Well, at least now I don't have to visit you as often….no offense." I joked with a smile.

Dr. Leslie just chuckled, "Well. At least try to visit me semi often, and don't forget to brush and floss. You just barely got your braces off, I don't want to see you next time with a bunch of cavities."

She led me out of her office, and into the waiting room.

Dad stood up from his seat and walked toward us. "So how'd it go?"

Dr. Leslie smiled, "Why don't you take a look for yourself?" She gestured toward me.

I gave Dad a wide toothy grin, and immediately started to lick my teeth again. The open air felt weird to them, I hope it fades quickly.

Dad just chuckled.

"Remember, they'll be sensitive for a while. Make sure to wear your retainer at night. No crunchy or sticky off the bat, ease into it. Brush soft, and floss. And don't use anything like teeth whitening." She warned me.

"Don't worry, I'll remind her." Dad chimed in.

"What's the point of getting my braces off. If I can't do anything," I muttered, annoyed.

"Unless you want them back on, then trust me." Dr. Leslie told me as she folded her arms.

"Fine," I responded as my tongue rubbed against my teeth.

When is this feeling going to fade? My presentation is tomorrow, I don't want to lick my teeth in front of everybody.

=====

Leo's POV

"If you like pina coladas, And getting' caught in the rain-" Music played as I worked on my house.

At the moment, I'm installing a camera in the corner of the living room.

Even though the neighbor's pretty safe, my security is way too lax... .it's basically non existent. All I have is a deadlock on the front door, it's a thick wooden door but still.

Maybe it'll stop a burglar from breaking through the front door, but it won't stop them from coming through the window.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to become influential.

Well, sort of. Flappy Bird and Instagram are famous. I'm pretty sure most of their user base has no idea who I am.

Hundreds of people use Fanfic net, or AO3, but less than a third of them can tell you who made it or what they look like.

I'm not worried about those people though. What I am worried about is Shield. More precisely, Hydra. For all I know, at this very moment they're hacking Instagram and stealing everybody's information.

Either way, it's only a matter of time until everybody knows my face. I've bought myself some time with the hacking/exposition scandal, but it won't last forever.

With my current abilities. The average hydra goon won't be a threat, but I have no idea what kind of tech they are packing though. Plus, I have no idea how strong their version of The Winter Soldier is.

My main issue is Om Nom though. If shield or hydra ever find out about him, they'll probably lock him up and experiment on him.

I've mainly been keeping him inside during the day, and only letting him out at night or late noon to run around. So far he hasn't gone stir crazy, he actually seems to be enjoying it.

He's literally on the couch right now, rocking back and forth as he watches Chowder.

Knock, Knock, Knock

That's probably the delivering man.

=====

3rd Person POV

Leo stood outside his home as about two dozen men wearing hazard vests, and hard helmets worked on his house.

The road was filled with old trucks, delivery trucks, and one crane.

He's pretty sure half the neighborhood is giving him a dirty look through their windows for blocking the street…which is fair.

Leo would have preferred to install and build everything by hand, but that would take forever and be a pain in the ass. Most of the things he wants require a contractor with a special license.

Installing solar panel, and a backup power station. In case he ever loses power, or somebody tries to cut it.

Replacing his ac unit. Which requires a crane, and somebody with a crane operating license.

He also wanted massive stone walls, and an iron gate. Which requires a license, only if the wall is over 4 feet tall for some reason.

Home improvement in New York is not easy, which sucks cause he has all the skill from his John Nolan templates.

"What's going on here?" Peter asked as he stepped around a pair of men carrying a rain collector, for my future garden.

"Oh hey Pete, I'm just doing some home improvement. What are you doing here though?"

While Peter doesn't live far, he also doesn't live close. His aunt's place is only a couple of blocks away, about a ten minute walk.

"Yeah, ugh. I was just going for a walk when I noticed the trucks" Peter answered a little too quickly.

If Leo had to guess, Peter was probably swinging around and noticed the trucks.

"Hey kid!" A man with a clipboard and some forms walked up to Leo, "Where's your Dad? I need somebody to sign these forms."

Without looking up, Leo handed him his ID and took the forms.

The foreman examined the ID card, doing a double-take.

Leo flipped through the form at a rapid speed, his eyes going top to bottom.

"Can you actually read that fast?" Peter asked.

"Actully yeah, I can read 20,000 words a minute." He answered as he signed the form.

The foreman examined the ID, grabbed a form from his bag. Comparing the signature, doing a double-take.

"No offense kid, but how are you affording this?"

Leo handed him the signed forms, "ever heard of instagram?"

"A little, it's a new facebook or something. My kids keep telling me to start advertising on it,"

"You should, and we're better than facebook…we also made Flappy Bird."

"Now, that I do know. My nephew got so upset, he threw his phone into my brother's TV." He let out A laugh as he walked away,

"Wait, did his nephew destroy a TV because of Flappy Bird?" Peter asked.

"Look up Flappy Bird Crashout on instagram, It's a hashtag.'

Peter pulled out his phone, and looked it up.

"Oh wow,"

"Yep, you'll be surprised how angry a little yellow bird can make people." That bird has probably destroyed hundreds of phones by now.

Peter continued to scroll through, "There just so much- did that guy just throw his phone out the window?"

"People are crazy,"

=====

Somewhere In England

In one of England's many districts, an older woman. Maybe in her mid to late sixes, sat in silence. Pigeons by her feet, pecking at the seeds she gave them earlier.

A few feet away, two men watched her. Wearing dark suits, and ear pieces.

"Maria?" A woman around the same time jogged up to her, slow due to her age.

The bodyguard took a step forward, ready to intercept. The woman on the bench, Maria. Just raised her hand, gesturing that it was alright.

"Morning Jill, what's got you all in a dither?" Maria asked.

"You haven't seen it?" Jill questioned as she sat by Maria.

"Seen what?"

Jill pulled out her smart phone, struggling to use such new and confusing technology. "My Mathew sent me this,'

Jill showed an article, of a group of boys who made a social media app.

"Oh, instagram?" Maria cocked her head, "Elijah mentioned it, an American thing. Young lad and lasses sharing picture and video,"

"No, not that. Look at the founder's names" Jill told her.

Maria began to read the names. Harry Osborn. Never met the lad, but has met the boy's father. Elijah has the occasional business meeting with the man.

Ned Leed, haven't heard of the lad. She also hasn't heard of Peter Parker.

She looked at the last name, Leo Faith. Faith, a name that brings back some old, unfortunate, memories.

His face… unsettled her. For some reason, it reminded her of Hope.

"I- I don't understand?" Maria told Jill.

"That's Hope's son," Jill told her, almost practically yelling.

Maria froze, "No, Hope never had children. It's just a coincidence, they just share a name."

"That's what I thought at first too," She scrolled through her, "But look,"

Jill pulled out an article from somewhere called, TMZ.

She didn't have to read the rest, looking at the picture. Of Leo and Hope side by side, it was irrefutable.

"I- I- I need to call Elijah." She pulled out her phone, and began to dial her husband.
