Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 - The Beginning of Darkness

"Sun Chen…"

That voice called out to him again, deep and echoing softly, yet carrying an invisible pressure that seeped into his bones.

"I've already told you… I have given you everything…"

Suddenly, a warm light slowly burst forth, like ripples of water expanding until it filled the empty whiteness, creating reflections of colorful lights like an aurora.

Sun Chen fell silent, his eyes wide open, staring at a sight that no human mind could ever comprehend.

Long ago, before all these worlds were formed, there was only one planet in the universe:

The Primordial World.

A planet of unimaginable size, larger than the stars, vaster than any galaxy, encompassing all the minor mortal realms, cultivator worlds, and godly realms that are now separated, united under one sky, one law of the universe.

At the center of that planet lay the World Core, the source of all pure energy flowing throughout the universe, where the laws of heavenly dao converged, where gods and high-level cultivators fought for supremacy, where all life grew and flourished.

All races lived on that planet: humans, dragons, phoenixes, immortal beasts, elemental spirits, demons—all coexisting side by side. Yet, despite its vastness, even immortal cultivators had never been able to explore the entirety of the Primordial World.

In that universe, there was no other planet besides the Primordial World.

But everything changed.

The greed of humans and all races tainted that sacred land.

The strong oppressed the weak, ordinary humans who refused to cultivate were looked down upon, slaughtered, enslaved, even used as experiments by high-level cultivators.

Wars broke out across every corner of the planet, each region turning into a battlefield, every river filled with blood, and the sky dyed red with the fires of unending war.

All for one goal: to become the strongest in the universe.

The voice of the man in golden robes echoed again, slowly yet heavy with guilt.

"I… am the Primordial God. Guardian of the Primordial World, protector of the universe's supreme laws."

Sun Chen froze, his body trembling as he heard a confession he could never have imagined.

"When I saw that greed and hatred, I was enraged."

"I destroyed the Primordial World with my own hands."

"I shattered it into fragments scattered throughout the universe, to the point where my own soul was nearly annihilated by my power."

The voice faded, like the autumn wind cutting through the morning mist.

"I only wanted peace. I wanted all beings to feel justice and live a proper life."

"But I realized… not all wills can be forced with power."

Suddenly, the scene changed.

Sun Chen saw the fragments of the planet floating in the dark void, slowly rotating, rearranging themselves into formations, forming small worlds, creating new planets radiating different lights.

"The Heavenly Dao… the supreme law of the universe, eventually forged new laws from my will."

"The smallest fragments became mortal realms…"

"The larger fragments became cultivator worlds…"

"And the core became the godly realm…"

"That is the origin of all worlds."

Sun Chen stood in stunned silence, his eyes reflecting profound shock.

He just realized that his world… was merely a grain of sand in an endless desert.

But the man looked at him deeply, with an expression containing more than just hope.

"Sun Chen…"

"The reason my soul still exists in this small world… is because I wish to find my destiny."

"I wish to find someone with a determined heart and a strong soul."

"Someone who can inherit my power… because if this power falls into the wrong hands, it will destroy the universe once more."

Sun Chen clenched the ring on his finger tightly, feeling warmth flow into his veins, penetrating his meridians and soul, like a stream of pure water cleansing the wounds in his heart.

The man smiled.

"I have only one request for you…"

"Become the strongest in this universe."

"Build a world according to your will, Sun Chen."

"Protect those who have no strength."

"Use this power to stop the darkness, not to oppress."

The voice grew softer, as if the wind was carrying it away.

"Your power is the only one capable of doing all of this…"

"But remember, do what you believe is important, not merely for revenge."

Sun Chen lifted his head, looking at the man who now appeared like a golden god, standing tall with authority yet with a comforting smile.

"And these are… my last words… for you… Sun Chen…"

The voice gradually broke apart, fragmented, like waves crashing against rocks.

"I… am… trus…"

Sun Chen tried to move closer, his hand outstretched, but the light slowly faded.

"ti… ng… yo…"

The voice disappeared.

The light vanished.

Everything turned to darkness.

Sun Chen's consciousness began to fade.

His eyes slowly closed, his body feeling as if it was falling into a deep void, like being sucked into an endless vortex of time.

But before he completely sank, in his heart, a new resolve was born.

A resolve beyond mere revenge.

A resolve to change the world.

In the midst of the darkness, Sun Chen became aware.

"Where am I…?"

He felt as if he was trapped in a narrow, suffocating space, with pressure on every corner of his body. There was no light, sound, or sensation, only consciousness hanging between life and death.

"Why am I still conscious… wasn't I already dead…?"

There, time felt as if it stood still. There was no day or night, only emptiness that slowly emptied his mind, making him drift without direction.

Then, suddenly, a beam of light appeared in the distance.

At first, it was just a tiny dot, but it slowly grew larger, approaching, and breaking the darkness apart. The light felt warm, penetrating the coldness of his consciousness.

"Light…?" Sun Chen felt his chest tremble, between fear and a hope he could not understand.

Suddenly, a giant hand formed from that light, emerging from the void and grabbing his unseen body. Sun Chen tried to scream, but no sound came out. His body could not move.

The hand pulled him forcibly toward the ever-brightening light.

"No… what's happening…?!"

His consciousness was forcefully dragged, the light engulfing him completely until everything turned blinding white. His body felt like it was floating, then falling, then pushed through a wind tunnel.

.

When Sun Chen opened his eyes, the blinding white light forced him to close them again. Slowly, the brightness subsided, replaced by a scene he had never seen before.

He felt like he was being held, but everything looked enormous, as if the world had grown a hundred times larger.

"Why… does everything look so big…?" Sun Chen thought, his breath caught.

He slowly moved his eyes, seeing the face of a beautiful young woman with long black hair, her face tired yet her eyes shining with warmth. She looked to be around thirty, with a comforting smile. Beside her stood a man with a firm, handsome face, wearing dark blue clothes with a white lightning emblem on his chest, the proud symbol of the Lin Clan, appearing around thirty-five years old.

The cries of a baby filled the room.

"Waaah… waaah…"

Sun Chen froze. That cry… was his own. He tried to scream, but only weak cries of a baby came out.

"What… is this body… a baby's body…? No… it can't be…"

The woman wept softly yet smiled, her eyes gazing at Sun Chen with overflowing affection.

"He… he's crying… he's crying… our child was born safely…" she said with a hoarse voice full of gratitude.

The man leaned down slightly, looking at the baby Sun Chen with trembling eyes, "Yes… he's truly our child…"

Beside them, a female physician with neatly tied hair smiled warmly while bowing respectfully, "Congratulations, Master Lin, Madam Lin. You have been blessed with a healthy and handsome son."

"Thank you… thank you so much…" the man's voice cracked, his eyes teary, though his face remained dignified.

"It is my duty, Master Lin. I am happy to have helped deliver your child safely," the physician replied politely, slowly leaving the room with a relieved smile.

At that moment, Sun Chen could only remain silent in the woman's embrace. His tiny body trembled, his still-red eyes looking around in fear.

"No… this can't be… I've… reincarnated…?"

He tried to lift his tiny hand, his small fingers twitching weakly in the air, pink and soft like cotton.

"Why… are my hands this small…?"

Sun Chen still remembered clearly: he had died. His old world had been destroyed, his revenge fulfilled, but in the end, it all left him alone. Now, he woke up in the body of a baby, in a situation he could not understand.

The woman gazed at Sun Chen's small face, smiling with teary eyes that made the room feel peaceful, "Darling… look at him… he's opening his eyes and looking at us… our child… he's looking at us so seriously…" she spoke softly.

The man let out a small laugh, holding back his emotions, "Hahaha… he's truly our child…"

The woman hugged Sun Chen tightly, looking at his tiny face with love before gently pressing her lips against the baby's forehead, giving him a warm mother's kiss.

Sun Chen's eyes trembled. He could feel that warmth penetrating his small body, a feeling he had long forgotten.

"This… feels… warm…"

"Is… this… my family now…?" he wondered, his eyes beginning to feel hot.

In his mind, memories of his destroyed sect resurfaced, his deceased master, his slain disciples, and himself sitting alone in the library for decades in loneliness. His revenge was complete, but his heart remained empty.

Now, he felt that warmth again. The gentle voice of a mother, the genuine laughter of a father, and the careful hands holding him, ensuring he would not be hurt.

He could no longer hold back the emotions. His cries broke out, but they were not cries of pain, but cries that shook his soul.

"Is… this a new chance for me…?" he thought.

The woman looked at baby Sun Chen with love and warmth that made the room feel peaceful, "He's… our child… thank you for being born, my dear…"

The man gently stroked his wife's hair, turning to look at their baby with a genuine smile before nodding softly.

"He really is our child, haha."

.

Deep within Sun Chen's heart, a resolve slowly formed. If this was his second chance, he would live it correctly. He would seek the true meaning of life, not just revenge. He would become strong, not just for himself, but to protect those precious to him.

For the first time in a very long time… he wanted to live.
