Chapter 16 - I Failed to Protect You

"Sorry Chio, I am going to fight you for this one time," Seka says.

She kicks in her stomach, creating a bit of distance between them, and starts to attack with her bow and charges towards her.

Clank.

Clank.

Her bow changes its shape into a sword.

Swish, swish! She blocks every single arrow and blocks every attack.

Seka keeps on pushing on Chio.

She tries many attacks but fails. Seka shouts, "Chio! I know you're there, come out! Please, come back!"

The Curse takes control. "Huhh, so you think your friend is alive, huh? I am sorry, but—"

Seka interrupts, "Shut up, you disgusting piece of Shit!" Seka gets a slice at the Curse, slicing a big chunk of off Chio.

The Curse starts to comment, "Hmm, not bad. But I didn't think you could still stand. Will you be fine? I am even surprised you are still standing."

Seka takes a step, charges with all her might. Her eyes glare at the Curse, looking down to his soul. She brings out her sword. She takes step after step, running towards Chio.

The Curse gives a smirk. "It should be any time now."

Chirik!

Seka stops at the sound. She starts to feel heavy pain in her body. "Did my bone"

"At least try," the Curse simply speaks and runs towards her to attack her.

It gets in front of Seka and grabs her. The slimy stuff on Chio completely takes over Chio's body, making it no longer visible. The people start regaining control—most of the weak people still can't move.

Bukis, swish!

And in an instant, in the blink of an eye, she gets thrown so hard the wind makes a sound.

She starts to lose consciousness in the air. She feels it slowly as her eyes get heavy and close.

Fuik!

A loud, subtle noise. The Curse is in front of Seka. She is still in the air, about to crash into a wall.

The Curse charges a punch and smacks her. The ground makes a huge dent. Seka is in the ground, she regains her consciousness.

"Akhyak!" she pukes blood, as she tries to gasp for air.

Her fingers start to grip the soil, digging into it as she shakes, trying to move again. She gets up, still shaking, trying to fight back. She starts to speak, "Chio, I will—"

Chyak... She starts to spill a bit of blood from her mouth. We see the whole scene—the Curse has a spike made of slimy stuff stabbing her body. where the curse is just standing.

"Hmm, it seems my body is getting back to normal."

Seka, still standing, takes another step.

It stabs her again on the thigh, piercing through her skirt. It pulls back the tentacles—her legs give in. She tries to take a step but falls on the ground, with only her upper body straight.

Players who were still in the arena stop and take a look. Most of them start to puke. Most start to walk—they can't run because their legs are shaky with fear, tears rolling down as they try to grab something for support.

"This is fun to play around with", He says with a smirk, Seka gets stabbed again, Seka clenches her fist with the pain "ahh!".

She stays strong on the ground, with half of her body still standing. Her arms slowly sway, touching the ground with a gentle touch of her fingers.

The ground instantly makes ice spikes in front of her, cutting of the tentacles. Most of her body gets filled with punctures. She slowly stands up again shaking. taking heavy breadthes.

"Only if I could get close to Chio past him... it's gonna kill me anyway," she thinks to herself.

Her leg stops shaking. She takes another step. She puts her hands against her chest. Green light starts to glow—she starts to heal a little bit of her wounds.

"This should be enough. I am almost at my last drop." Seka speaks

Silence...

"Hmm, did you die or something?" the Curse starts to comment. It brings out two tentacles and sends them towards the spike she just created, shattering it.

The ice breaks with frosty smoke, shards scattering everywhere.

Wosh!

Right from the smoke, Seka runs towards the Curse, dodging every strike. Her eyes are glowing pink.

On the top of the arena, a slight breeze breezes through, waving the flags stationed there.

A figure pops, crashing onto the topmost parameter of the arena. The impact breaks part of the walls.

"Se-Ka?" It's Kara. He stands there, his eyes widening, horrified.

He sees Seka stabbed by a sharp, spiky tentacle that has pierced her stomach. as she is lifted up by the same tentacle.

Tang!

The sound of her weapon falling from her hand echoes through the arena.

Kara gets down into the arena, he starts to run towards her. Kara calls Seka again. She notices, slowly turns her head right, following her eyes. Her eyes have heavy eye bags, almost about to close. As her eyes are really tired and about to faint, she tries to speak, "Ka-ra..." She closes her eyes and gives a smile.

"Hmm, you came for her, huh? Here then," the Curse throws her towards Kara. He catches her, cushioning her fall.

He sits down and puts her in his arms. "Hey, you there, Seka?" He puts his head on her chest, feels her heartbeat. He puts his hands on her stomach and starts to chant heal. Only her bruises heal—her broken bones and the punctured body don't get better.

The Curse notices and throws her weapon towards them. Kara grabs Seka and dodges, putting her aside.

Kara looks down at his hands, his eyes desperate and peeking through his hair. His hands rest on top of Seka's stomach, which begins to emit a green glow—filled with the hope of achieving more. His eyes close for a moment as old memories flood in.

"You are such an honest boy," a grandma speaks, looking at Kara. He turns his head towards the grandma.

"Thank you for helping me take these things to my place." Grandma smiles.

"Oh no, it's nothing. It's just another day of me strolling around," Kara replies with a smile on his face.

"Then here," the grandma hands him a box. "These are the doughnuts I made. They are really good, make sure to eat them." Kara looks at the doughnuts with a little smile, he gets really happy.

"Keep smiling like that, okay? And give these doughnuts to someone you like. My husband actually asked me out for the first time like that—it's his recipe."

Kara looks at the grandma. She starts to speak, "You should enjoy your youth more, child. Who knows, you might even find more than one. If I was in my prime, oh, I would really fall for your innocence and kindness."

Kara looks outside the window. "Thank you, but I don't think that will be happening. I used to love this one person... I don't think I can still meet the same person." Kara's face starts to get gloomy.

"Here is the thing, child. I don't know why you two got far like this, but every person has their own side of emotions, reasons, and personality. If you love her so much, I know she does too. Just don't forget to not only love her, but her complete self, and who she really is."

The grandma sits down on the chair. "What is your name, child?"

Kara looks at her and says, "Kara."

The grandma looks out of the window. "Such a power, like a king, I know you will meet her again. Love is something strong. There is a legend in this country I came from—it says to the royal family, love is something that gives power to fight."

"I really wish her words would come true, and it did." Kara speaking.

Kara, with all of their friends, is walking in the park, chatting with each other. Kara is just walking with them without a word. Then he feels a bit sad.

"It's really empty... no one wants to talk to me," he thinks.

He stops walking and looks at the huge northern tower. His face gets gloomy. He looks back at the group, notices no one is waiting for him.

He looks down at mana flowing into the tower. takes a big breadth and sighs.

Tak tak tak!

He starts to hear a sound, as if someone is running towards him. He takes a look from where the sound is coming. It's Seka.

"It's always been you, from the very beginning, one and only one too."

"Hey, why did you stop? Everyone is gonna leave you," Seka speaks as she is running towards him.

She almost stops, when he brings his hands and grabs her hand, pulls her close and hugs her.

"Huh, ahh! What are you doing?! Hey, if you're gonna do it, don't do it here—no, wait, what am I even saying..." She gets all red and collapses.

He takes a glance at his friends. Chio is standing there, looking at both of them, alone, with no sign of others.

Her eyes look as if she feels a bit angry.

Her right eye flashes golden for a sec as she makes her eye a bit smaller.

She ignores them, turns around and starts to walk again.

He stares at Chio for a while.

"Ah..." a sound. He looks at Seka, she makes another similar sound in her sleep. Kara looks at her and gives a slight smile.

Then something glows on their hands, for a sec with text around their finger. "This again." But then, a single thread becomes visible for a moment. He follows it with his eyes—it goes towards where Chio is.

Then it disappears.
