Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Global Disasters and the Earth's Tears of Blood

[With the launch of the Arahato, only Benares, Sirin, and Welt were left on the moon. At Bella's reminder, Sirin realized that an hour had passed, but to her, it felt like not even a minute had gone by.

"What did you do to me?!"

Welt didn't explain Sirin's anger. Back on Earth, he and Einstein had discussed a plan. At the risk of being swallowed by a black hole himself, he would use the black hole effect and time dilation to stall Sirin and buy time for Siegfried.

Welt staggered to his feet.

"For all these years... thank you, Ein, for always taking care of me and helping me..."

Sirin was furious and embarrassed. But looking at Welt, who could barely stand, she felt a little disappointed. Three days of waiting had led to such a weak traitor. So, she naturally went back on her word, using her Herrscher of the Void authority to make the meteors float.

"What are you doing?!"

"You said that if I came to the moon, you wouldn't..."

In a rage, Welt reached out a trembling hand. With his remaining strength, he pushed the little Honkai energy he had left in his body. He opened his red eyes, and mechs and fighter jets materialized behind him.

"This is... my last battle..."

"I am proud that in my final moments..."

"...I can still fight to protect this world (Welt)!"]

"A truly respectable figure." Otto got out of bed, opened a bottle of red wine from the mini-fridge by the bed, swirled his glass, and raised a toast to the Welt on the screen.

"Otto..."

"Kallen, what's wrong?" Otto asked.

"I... I'm choking!"

"Hmph, how could Sirin go back on her word like that? Where's her dignity as a Herrscher, as a major villain?" Senti's eyes widened. In her innocence, she had never considered the possibility of going back on one's word. It was as if some forbidden knowledge had just entered her mind.

"Uh... I'm not surprised," Kiana said. "This is the real Sirin."

A little girl who would cry and throw a tantrum on the floor because Yàqīng ate her favorite chips—what kind of villain could she be? What dignity could she have?

[After a brutal battle, Welt, completely exhausted, was ultimately no match for Sirin at her peak. He knelt on one knee, gasping for breath. He had successfully destroyed the four meteors Sirin had thrown at Earth.

As the victor, Sirin walked over to Welt with great interest, reaching out to claim her prize.

But Welt grabbed her arm. A texture resembling a data network spread from his face towards Sirin.

"What is this?!"

"What tricks are you playing now?! First Herrscher!"

The scene cut to a flashback of Welt. Before going to the moon, he had spoken with Tesla. He had pleaded with her to teach him how to detonate his Herrscher core. Welt hadn't dared to look Tesla in the eye when he said this.

Detonating a Herrscher core would also cause the body to explode and disintegrate. Tesla taught him, but then she threw him out of her lab. With tears streaming down her face, Tesla had said, "I hate... I hate... I hate you people who don't cherish your own lives."

Welt was prepared to die, to take the Second Herrscher down with him. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. A moment before the Herrscher core self-destructed, Sirin successfully extracted the Herrscher of Reason core from Welt's body.

Though terrified to the point of breaking out in a cold sweat, her heart pounding, Sirin pretended to be calm. "To think you would try to use the power of God to kill God's apostle. How naive!"

Having lost all his strength, Welt collapsed onto the cold lunar surface, dying alone on the moon. Sirin, having absorbed the Herrscher of Reason core, became the first-ever six-core Herrscher.

"You... will not... leave..."

Sirin turned her head to see Welt's body dissolving into dust.

Having mastered the power of the First Herrscher, having mastered his knowledge, Sirin felt she was invincible. It was time to return to Earth and bring down divine punishment on humanity!]

"Uh... why does it feel like Sirin is just pretending to be calm?" Looking at the conspicuous cold sweat on the character model, every viewer had this thought. In the Golden Courtyard, it was Pardo who said it first.

"Maybe... she didn't expect Welt to actually self-destruct his Herrscher core?" Sakura said uncertainly.

"Oh my, don't you all think Sirin is just like a pufferfish?" Elysia's voice was as sweet as ever.

"Huh?" Even Kalpas couldn't maintain his composure.

"You see, whenever there's a chance of winning, Sirin puffs up like a pufferfish, but then someone quickly comes and deflates her. Isn't that right?~" Elysia winked.

"Pfft, that's a very vivid description," MEI said, stifling a laugh.

Yàqīng smiled gently. "Isn't Sirin cute?"

The others looked at him strangely.

Perhaps Yàqīng's definition of "cute" was different from theirs.

"A shame, he was so close!" Welt Yang had successfully put himself in his character's shoes.

"Well, there's nothing to be done about it. You're not the main character, after all, Yang," Einstein said calmly, her coffee never leaving her hand. "The main characters are Siegfried and Cecilia. If you defeated the main villain, how would the rest of the plot unfold?"

"Yang, you have it so rough. You've risked your life so many times, and up to this point in the story, you're the only one doing anything. The others are either slacking off or falling in love, and then there's that [Anti-Entropy curse] Schicksal Overseer dragging you down," Tesla said, patting Welt Yang's shoulder.

Welt Joyce sat down next to Einstein. They exchanged a look, their eyes full of playful amusement.

[February 12, 2000, 12:05 PM. Using the Authority of Reason, Sirin created two battleships and returned to Earth. Sirin and Benares were in one, while the other carried over ten thousand Honkai Beasts.

In just fifteen minutes, Babylon Tower fell.

Patrick died buying time for Salome and Shab to evacuate the researchers.

Salome fought Benares alone and died heroically.

On the snow, Sirin came to the back of Babylon Tower. Looking at the grave marked only by three tree branches, a Herrscher core lay in her palm.

"...Come with me, and enjoy this revenge."

February 14th.

The pseudo-Herrscher of Wind landed in Oulu, Finland. In the howling winds, the city turned to ruins.

The pseudo-Herrscher of Flame landed in Astana. Amidst her laughter, the city became a sea of fire.

The pseudo-Herrscher of Death landed in Siberia. A black fog spread, like a scene from the apocalypse.

The three pseudo-Herrschers caused massive casualties worldwide, and the economic collapse was incalculable. Sirin used her Herrscher of the Void authority to create a portal, ordering Bella to defend Babylon Tower even at the cost of her own life.

As for Sirin, she would follow the will of her 'god,' destroy human cities, and bring herself even greater power.]

"This is the scene from the trailer. It's just as scary every time I see it." Pardo curled up into a ball.

"Did Sirin divide her power?" Vill-V was puzzled. She had just been wondering how humanity could possibly defeat a Sirin with six authorities. Was it through some power-up from the Previous Era knowledge brought back from the moon?

"No, Sirin didn't divide her power," Yàqīng shook his head. "They were just granted a portion of her power. They can't become true Herrschers."

"What did you mean by 'pseudo-Herrscher' in the subtitles? Like a Herrscher but not a Herrscher? Explain," Mobius demanded.

"There's nothing to hide about that," Yàqīng said. "Pseudo-Herrschers are not chosen by a 'god,' but bestowed by an 'apostle of God.' Compared to true Herrschers, their authorities, rather than being all-powerful, are more like the abilities of high-level Honkai Beasts."

"Pseudo-Herrscher... authority... Honkai Beast abilities..."

"Oh no, Sis Vill-V is starting to mutter to herself again!"
