Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Dealing with the Oranges and the Monkey

Chapter 63: Dealing with the Oranges and the Monkey

Yaqing's body stiffened. He whipped his head towards the source of the voice and saw that the previously empty main seat was now occupied. It was a somewhat blurry virtual image, the latest technology from Schicksal's research—technology that had not yet been perfected.

"Teacher..." Yaqing was genuinely frightened this time.

Otto's virtual image smiled playfully. "What's this about 'teacher'? How many times have I told you? At work, you must use proper titles."

"Yes, Overseer."

Otto nodded and looked towards the Board of Directors. The old fossils who had been calmly sipping their tea just moments ago were now in a panic, their hands trembling as they held their teacups.

"Since when was I not aware of a high-level meeting at Schicksal HQ today?" Otto's tone betrayed no emotion, yet it was still playful. "Or has the Board of Directors decided that you can now run Schicksal with an iron fist, bypassing me entirely?"

"Overseer, we did not..." Aleister Fischer hastily began.

Otto raised a hand to stop the old man's explanation and smiled. "I do not need to hear your explanations. I have already seen your choice. In the coming meeting, I will not take a side. I will be truly impartial."

Hearing Otto speak of impartiality, Aleister Fischer saw a glimmer of hope. However, the old men on the Board who knew Otto well furrowed their brows, sensing it wasn't that simple.

Yaqing exchanged a look with Theresa and Siegfried.

"Yaqing Schariac!" Aleister Fischer, like a small dog that had found its backer, raised his head proudly, his eyes filled with a malicious smile as he looked at Yaqing.

Yaqing leaned back in his soft chair, closed his eyes with a smile, and gestured with his hand. "Go on, I'm listening."

"Regarding the film project in collaboration with the Anti-Entropy Entertainment Group, in which you allegedly smeared Overseer Otto Apocalypse, do you admit to it?!" Aleister Fischer didn't slam the table this time, but his tone was just as stern.

"Continue," Yaqing didn't answer, but prompted the other to go on.

"Regarding the film project in collaboration with the Anti-Entropy Entertainment Group, in which you allegedly smeared the reputation of the Schicksal organization, do you admit to it?!"

"Is that all?"

"What?" Aleister Fischer was stumped.

"Nothing more?" Yaqing clasped his hands on the table. "Since there's nothing else, let's discuss your so-called 'charges.' First, I did not smear the Overseer. Second, the script was reviewed by the Overseer himself. And finally, I do not believe the actions depicted in the film's plot constitute smearing the Overseer."

The moment these words were spoken, not only was the Board shocked, but even Theresa, Siegfried, and Wendy beside him widened their eyes. It wasn't because they were surprised that Otto had seen the script, but because Yaqing had so confidently declared that it was not slander.

If this isn't slander, then what is?

Otto nodded. "I have indeed reviewed the script and I approve of Yaqing's wisdom. I personally do not feel that it is slander, because I cannot imagine a world without Kallen."

Otto's face was serious, showing no sign that he found his own words overly sentimental.

"As for your second charge, smearing Schicksal's reputation? How should I put this? If you define Valkyries fighting for all that is beautiful in the world as slander, then I find it difficult to offer any evaluation of you," Yaqing shook his head, his gaze towards Aleister now tinged with pity, but in the next second, it was full of amusement.

"Or perhaps, Aleister, you are just jealous. Jealous that they can fight for all that is beautiful in the world. How about this? You go to Thailand for an operation, and I promise to write a special role for you in the movie."

"S-rank Valkyrie Aleister Fischer, how does that sound?"

With just a few light words, Yaqing had completely shattered Aleister's composure.

"Pfft," Theresa couldn't help but let out a laugh, but no one reprimanded her, given her status.

"Yaqing Schariac!" Aleister Fischer, who had been pampered since childhood, had never been so insulted. He gasped for air, letting out a beast-like growl.

"I'm here."

"I..."

"Aleister Fischer, get out!" Before Aleister could curse, an old man from the Board's side finally spoke. If Aleister were to swear in a high-level Schicksal meeting, his family would likely be finished.

"Yes," Aleister came to his senses and silently left the conference room.

"Board of Directors," Yaqing spoke up suddenly. "If you can't find anything on me, then stop staring at me. If you push me too far, you know the consequences."

Yaqing's methods were ruthless. Although it would be difficult for him to take down the entire Board by himself, he could certainly tear a strip off them and make them feel the pain. And the price for that would only be a light scolding from Otto.

The meeting ended in an unpleasant atmosphere. Otto was the first to leave, followed by the old men from the Board. Yaqing said, "Sorry for making you all rush back to headquarters."

"It's alright, Teacher. Your business is the most important," Wendy said, quickly waving her hand.

"Yaqing, we're family. Don't say such things. If I didn't come, Cecilia would have been upset with me," Siegfried's relationship with Yaqing had eased considerably since the movie's release.

"Honestly, why doesn't Grandpa do something about these old geezers? I can't stand them," Theresa said irritably.

Siegfried, however, understood. It wasn't that Otto wouldn't act, but that he chose to leave the Board as a whetstone for Yaqing.

"Let's go. Since you all worked so hard to come back, dinner's on me tonight."

"Alright!"

The group of four walked out of the conference room and ran into Cyberutier Schariac, who had not yet left. Only now, his earlier light and playful demeanor was gone, replaced by an extremely ugly expression.

"What, did you find out you're being transferred back to the African branch?" Yaqing smiled.

"You did this?!" Cyberutier looked up, his eyes bloodshot. He clenched his fists and rushed forward.

Theresa hid behind Yaqing in fear.

Siegfried subconsciously stepped in front, but was pushed aside by Yaqing.

Yaqing grabbed Cyberutier's arm and twisted it hard. With a crisp crack, Cyberutier's face turned pale, and he let out a piercing scream. Yaqing clapped his hands in disgust and stepped on the other man's chest.

"Stay calm. You still have much to learn."

"If they can lift you up, I can just as easily stomp you to death."

"Remember to get your arm fixed at the hospital before you're deployed. Don't want any lingering side effects. After all, the medical technology in Africa is quite backward."

Yaqing left, ignoring the dog-like Cyberutier on the floor.

In Siegfried's luxury car.

Theresa looked at Yaqing with confusion. "When did you learn to fight like that?"

"I learned a little from someone back at the Courtyard."

"Teacher, I won't be staying for dinner tonight. I need to get back to the Oceania branch as soon as possible. I'm afraid if I'm gone too long, those old fossils will get restless again."

"Wendy, are you in such a hurry?" Theresa looked at Wendy with sympathy. After all, she was also a graduate of her St. Freya Academy.

"I'm sorry, Principal..."

"Alright then. Wendy, I'll send someone over to help you in a few days."
