Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: She Met His Gaze Coldly When He Said, “Let’s Talk”

Morning sunlight spilled across the glass façades of Yuehe Bay Creative Park, casting a warm, soft glow over the sleek architecture.

Outside Building C2 stood the minimalist, tastefully designed logo of Zhixu Apparel—a stark contrast to the woman who once spent her days quietly embroidering in the greenhouse at the Lu residence.

When Lu Yancheng stepped into the park, he immediately drew attention.

His presence was overpowering—sharp features, cold eyes, and a tailored suit that cut a commanding silhouette. Everything about him radiated an aura of keep your distance.

The receptionist blinked in surprise."Sir, who are you here to see?"

"Xu Zhiyi," he replied lowly, his tone allowing no room for refusal.

The girl didn't dare ask further and quickly dialed the internal line.

In the conference room, Xu Zhiyi was in the middle of giving design feedback when she paused slightly at the mention of "a Mr. Lu asking for you at the front desk."

Several people exchanged glances.

Lin Xuzhi cast her a calm look and offered evenly, "I can send him away if you want."

She shook her head, stood up, and adjusted her sleeves. Her voice was gentle, yet distant."It's fine. I can handle it."

She pushed open the door and walked out—her steps steady, her demeanor composed.

When she stood before Lu Yancheng again, the submissive woman who once carried the title Mrs. Lu was long gone.

She wore a simple, form-fitting dress under a light gray wool blazer. Her makeup was perfectly applied, and even the shade of her lipstick had a sharper edge than before.

"President Lu," she greeted with a light smile. "I wasn't aware we had any remaining business dealings."

That "President Lu" was as light as a feather—But it landed like a slap.

His throat tightened as his gaze locked on her face."Let's talk."

"About what?" she raised a brow, her eyes devoid of emotion."The divorce agreement is already signed. The finances were handled clearly on your end. I have no further requests."

He was momentarily at a loss for words.

Yes—she really hadn't left him any room to continue.

He'd always been a master of negotiation, effortlessly navigating storms in the business world. But now, for the first time, words failed him.

"I just wanted to see you."

She let out a short laugh, her expression unmoved."Well, now you have. Should I offer you tea, too?"

He stared at her."Zhiyi… you've changed."

She nodded."Yes. I have."

She let out a faint sigh, but her eyes remained clear and cold—like still water under ice.

"The old me was always waiting for you to turn around, always afraid of being ignored. I was so pathetic back then, even I looked down on myself."

"And now?" he asked, his voice tense.

She glanced at him, her tone calm—almost cruel:

"Now, I just don't love you anymore."

With that, she turned and walked away—back straight, head held high.

He stood there frozen, fingertips icy, throat dry, as if all the air had been sucked from the room.

What he didn't know was that just around the corner, Lin Xuzhi had been watching the entire exchange in silence.

As she approached, he asked softly,"Want me to send him off?"

She shook her head."No need. He'll leave on his own."

There wasn't the slightest trace of longing in her eyes.

But Lin Xuzhi had seen it clearly—When she came back in, the hand tucked into her sleeve…was trembling.
