Chapter 59 - Reflection and Return

Elise was reflecting on herself.

In her battle with Fan Xinglou, she had exposed many shortcomings—even she could clearly see them. If she couldn't, then all her years of life would've been wasted.

Though she had ultimately fused with Sylvia and gained the overwhelming power to crush Fan Xinglou, Elise knew well—that power wasn't her own.

If she truly wanted to become that strong, she would need to travel across worlds, seeking ways to grow stronger.

There was no point in relying on the Lord God. This fragment of the Lord God Space had no reward system whatsoever. It couldn't strengthen Elise, nor could it invite others into the space. Other than allowing her to traverse worlds, the only other feature was something called "World Resolution"—but what use it had, the Lord God had never explained.

Elise carefully analyzed her role in battle, searching for her future direction.

Because of her faith power, her combat style leaned more toward that of a mage—but she wasn't a pure mage. After all, Elise also possessed some close-combat ability. Though she wasn't as formidable as Fan Xinglou in melee, to ordinary eyes, her skills were still quite decent.

What's more, her potential couldn't be ignored.

Up until now, she had mostly fought one-sided battles, hardly tempering her abilities at all. But things were different now. After being thoroughly beaten by Fan Xinglou, her determination to grow stronger had only deepened.

So, what suited her best was clear—

A melee mage!

A profession that combined close-quarters combat with large-scale magic!

That sounded just right for Elise.

If that was the case, then she would need a proper weapon suited to her.

She had once considered choosing an Orga Lux from the world of Asterisk, and she did try. But the results were far different than she had imagined. Almost none of the Orga Lux could synchronize with her.

Yes, Orga Lux required compatibility. Without a high degree of resonance, their true power couldn't be drawn out.

And besides, Orga Lux had limited growth potential. If Elise grew stronger in the future but her weapon couldn't keep up, she would have to search for another.

In short—

Elise needed a weapon that could grow, last long-term, and balance both melee and magic.

At first she thought of modern firearms, but dismissed the idea quickly.

A "gun-toting nun" was certainly a tempting image. Pointing a gun at someone's head and saying, "Times have changed" sounded cool, but it didn't match Elise's saintess image.

And she would have to learn gun combat techniques from scratch.

So cold weapons it was. Preferably magical weapons.

Among cold weapons, the most versatile was surely the sword.

As the saying went: The sword is the king of a hundred weapons, the ancestor of close arms.

It could also symbolize one's identity and status.

Elise was a saintess. Therefore, the sword she wielded would, without doubt, be a holy sword!

So, what sword best fit the concept of a "holy sword"?

A sudden inspiration struck Elise—she recalled an anime she had once watched. In it appeared a sword that could indeed be called a Holy Sword!

Alright! That would be it!

With her weapon decided, Elise turned to the next problem—her physical constitution was far too weak.

Of course, against ordinary people, none could ever break through her defenses. But once she faced higher-level opponents, Elise would become a glass cannon—high attack, low defense.

She could defeat enemies, but they could also defeat her just as easily!

To resolve this issue of physical durability, she would need to travel to a world she wasn't particularly eager to visit… but that was a matter for later.

Time passed quickly, and Seidoukan Academy soon entered its vacation period.

Students could return to their hometowns for rest. During this time, the city would be at its quietest.

Elise bid farewell to her many friends in Seidoukan, preparing to return once more to the Church headquarters. For them, two months apart was nothing much. But for Elise—it was different.

She was someone who traveled between worlds. Who knew how many years would pass before she returned here again? A proper farewell was necessary.

She also went to see Fan Xinglou, but the news was the same—Fan Xinglou was still in seclusion, unable to meet anyone.

That bratty loli… could it be she really didn't want to see her?

Even if she deleted that video, it would be fine! After all, she had backups anyway… (whispering)

With a helpless sigh, Elise left behind a farewell letter for Fan Xinglou, promising that if she had the chance, she would bring Sylvia along to visit her again.

Back at the Church, Miss Mana was praying beneath the statue. Once Elise's personal attendant nun, Mana's position in the Church had risen greatly. Seeing Elise again after so long left her deeply moved.

"It truly has been a long time, Lady Saintess."

Though Elise had once caused her plenty of trouble, Mana still admired her. Always gentle to all, perfect in all she did—

Truly worthy of being called a Saintess!

"Yes, it really has been a long time," Elise replied warmly.

But soon, the days where we can meet will grow even fewer… at least, for me.

After briefing the Pope on upcoming matters, Elise opened the gate of the Lord God Space and left the world of Asterisk behind.

Now, she would search for ways to grow stronger.

...

The Lord God Space was still as silent and lifeless as ever, pitch black all around.

A flash of light—and Elise returned here.

But unlike last time, this time Elise did not shed her saintess demeanor. She did not appear impatient. Instead, she maintained the saintess image, only loosening her posture slightly.

It seemed now she intended to make the saintess facade her main persona—perhaps due to the shift in her inner state.

"Lord God, what's my resolution now?"

Elise opened the system panel, and there the world resolution was displayed:

Executor: Elise Holiness

World Number: 2 (Seidoukan Academy)

World Resolution: 59%

"Only 59?"

This was far lower than she had expected. She had thought it might exceed 80!

But on second thought, it made sense.

Though Elise had traveled across much of the world, she hadn't yet interacted with the protagonist, nor had she participated in the main storyline. It was natural that the resolution remained low.

"I guess only next time, when I return to Asterisk, will I be able to raise the resolution further?"

She didn't know what it was good for, but since it was data provided by the Lord God, the higher, the better!

Play a game without unlocking the full map?

What kind of joke was that?

With that thought, Elise had no intention of lingering in the Lord God Space any longer. She immediately set off for the next world.

She was going to search for her weapon!

The Lord God might not have the ability to summon people—but if it wasn't a person, and instead a contract… then surely it could succeed.
