Chapter 1 - love or hate

It was a Thursday, the kind of day where nothing feels quite right. Aira had stayed up too late binge-watching a rom-com she wouldn't admit to, woke up late, and had to rush into her economics class with barely brushed hair and untied shoelaces. But her energy? Unshaken.

She stormed into class, laughing over a silly joke she'd made to a junior on the way in. Her loud arrival, as usual, turned heads. But none of those eyes mattered to her. Only one pair did.

Aadvik mehra sat in the second row — as always — crisp, collected, and cold. Typing away like the rest of the world didn't exist.

Aira's heart fluttered annoyingly. She didn't know why he got under her skin like that. Maybe it was his stillness. Or maybe because he never laughed. Never reacted.

Today, she was determined to get something out of him.

She walked up, leaned slightly over his desk, and whispered playfully, "Still allergic to human interaction, topper?"

The class chuckled. Aira smirked.

Aadvik didn't. He looked up, bored.

And then he said, loud enough for everyone to hear:

"Don't talk to me like we're equals. You barely scraped a passing grade last term."

The class went quiet. Someone coughed. Someone else giggled.

Aira's smile froze.

"I was just—"

"I don't care what you were," he cut in. "If you need attention, maybe try someone else. I'm not interested in charity cases."

Laughter. Muted. But it echoed in her ears.

She stood there, frozen in place, blinking too fast. Her throat tightened. And then, without another word, she turned around, walked to the back of the room… and sat down.

Her face burned. Her eyes stung. She didn't want to cry.

But she did.

Silently.

---

That day changed something in Aira.

She skipped lunch. Avoided her friends. Went home early and didn't talk to anyone at dinner. Her mother complained about her wrinkled clothes. Her father scolded her for not revising. Her brother joked about her failed fashion sense.

She didn't reply.

She just sat in her room, stared at her reflection, and whispered, "You let him break you."

---

The next morning, she woke up before the sun. Did her hair. Ironed her clothes. Put on eyeliner for the first time in months. She wore a cream-fitted blouse with puffed sleeves and black high-waist trousers.

And when she walked into college, the heads turned again .

She walked past him like he was air.

She didn't change her appearance. No makeup, no extra effort — just the same old Aira in her usual casuals. She sat in the front row, eyes only on the lecturer. She spoke only when necessary. And she ignored him completely — like he didn't exist.

---

Meanwhile, Aadvik notice and smirk , but he didn't care and started doing consentrate on his work again.

In lunch period, everyone was eating their mid day meal , laughing while talking about yesterday, what happen with aira .

Suddenly aira arrived in cantine and everyone started staring at her , she feels awkward and embarrassed , she sat on a empty chair and started having her food .

she stood and go to the coffee counter and pick up a cup of coffee and moved back , and fall on the ground suddenly,

What the fu*k , advik shouted .

She moved her head up and saw , that she had spilled all the coffee on his new , branded shirt ..

I..I'm sorry, i didn't mean that , she said in embarrassment .

Ohh really, i know you do it on purpose, because i don't think that you are blind , why didn't you except that you are jealous, because i rejected you, he said in loud voice so that everyone can hear .

I'm not jealous, she screamed.

He come closer towards aira, and said with smirk , ohh really.

Yess really, she said .

Okayy , but what about my shirt , which you just had ruined , he said with a smirk.

I'll pay you for that . She said

$5000 rupees, he said .

$5..5000 , what , it's too much , she said in shock.

Its the cost of my shirt, he said in loud voice , but if you don't have 75000 , so you can pay me with something else , come to my home tonight, he whispered in her ear .

You are fu*king mad , she shouted.

He grabbed her wrist and said coldly, mind your language, or I'll teach you , how to behave with seniors, you have only two options, 1st- pay the cost of my shirt , 2nd - come to my home tonight

you don't follow, any of them ,I will come to your home .

After college, aira was sitting in her room, she was so scared, that what will she do now , she know that she love him but she didn't want to do anything wrong, and if he arrived at her home , her parents get know about that ,and she will get humiliate by her parents.

She take deep breath and get ready and go at his home.

She knock the door, aadvik open the door,

Ohh , so you are here , come in , he said with a smirk.

Y..yes , she said .

He go and sit on the couch and said, take a seat ,

Do you know, why would I call you at my home at that time or how would you pay to me instead of money , he said with a playful smirk.

N...no , she said .

Suddenly he came closer towards her and whispered something in her ear , she stare at him in shock and disbelief .
