Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- Secrets

Vanessa POV

I ran after him, gripping him by the arm.

"Edward please, don't take my son away from me." I said, tears building up in my eyes.

I never thought my Sunday morning would be like this. Why did Edward have to find out now?

He pushed my hand away and turned to me, his face is boiling with anger, his eyes were so scary. It felt like I was staring at a different person.

"Your Son? 5 fucking years Vanessa. How could you be so cruel and selfish? Did you hate me so much to keep my son away from me?" I could feel the pain in his voice.

"I never wanted to keep him from you Edward. Please just let me explain." I begged not knowing what would come next.

Edward looked so angry and devastated.

"I'm taking you to court tomorrow. I will gain custody of my son."

He began walking away from me and heading towards his car. People on the street were already starting to notice the heated argument and some were staring awkwardly as they passed. I could see Liam standing by the widow. He had opened the curtain briefly and is watching us. How could I fight a Billionaire like Edward silver in court for Custody? If that happened, I would never have access to Liam again.

"Edward." I called after him. But he wasn't listening. I ran up to him and caught him by his hand. This time, with my two hands.

"Edward please. You can't do that." He let go of my hand aggressively, turning to face me as his height towered over me to intimidate me even more.

"You know back at the suite I felt pity for you Vanessa. You made me feel guilty and I felt bad for hurting you. Meanwhile all this time, you had our son and you kept him from me."

"You weren't ready to be a father Edward. Your mom pushed me away from you. I don't even know if you're ready to be a father right now." I said to him, tears streaming down my cheeks.

Memories from when his cruel mom turned me away from their family house resurfaced my mind. I tried multiple times to reconnect with Edward. When I found out I was pregnant, I went over to his house to tell him. I met his mom instead, who looked down on me and turned me away.

"My son deserves someone better. Not a low life like you." I suddenly heard her say in my mind. That night she showed me Edward's picture with a girl he was cheating on me with and I had no clue. I felt hurt and I gave up on trying to reach Edward and decided that it was for the best.

"Why didn't you tell me about that?" He asked, his eyes suddenly filled with pity for me.

"Because you broke my heart!" I yelled, my tears were coming out even more now. I bent my head into my hands. I was crying seriously.

"Don't lie to me Vanessa My mom would never do such." He warned sternly, ignoring my previous words to him.

"I've never lied to you Edward, and you know it." I replied cleaning my tears as I got up from where I was. Does this mean I would loose my son?

Oh God please, help me. I prayed silently in my heart. Edward brought his phone out and walked over to his car area to make a phone call. I used the opportunity to go into the house to check on Liam.

"Mommy are you okay?" The little boy asked, looking so sad like he wanted to cry too. I couldn't tell him what just happened.

"Yes baby, I'm fine" I responded with a light smile, trying to sound cheerful so he can believe me.

"But you're crying. Did that man outside hurt you?" He said to me. Liam is a very smart boy who is very observant. He knows how to put clues together even for his age. I didn't want him to have a distorted view and first impression of his father so I lied to him.

"No baby, I'm just having a headache. Go run a bath for yourself. I'll make you pancakes, sausages and some juice for breakfast okay?" He nodded in response and did as I asked. Deep down I know he doesn't agree with my response. I tipped the baby sitter and she left through the back door.

Shortly after, I heard a loud knock coming from the front door. It was Edward. I opened the door for him. He got off the call the moment he walked into my house. He still looked upset, but he wasn't as angry as he was earlier.

He looked around, spotting a framed picture of Liam and I sitting on a table stand. He picked it up and stared at it for some seconds before placing it back.

"I have two options for you." He said to me his tone became serious.

"I'm listening." I replied. What else could he possibly have planned besides going to court?

"It's either I take you to court or I marry you." His words came out effortlessly, like he masterminded this whole scenario from the start.

"You want to marry me? Are you serious?" I didn't know what to say. Marriage? Edward the playboy billionaire couldn't stay loyal to any woman.

"A contract marriage Vanessa. I propose the option of a contract marriage. Do you accept?" He asked walking over to me.

A contract marriage seemed like a more reasonable option to accept so I wouldn't loose Liam but what's the catch? A man like Edward silver won't play fair in a case like this. Saying yes to this meant I would submit to whatever Edward wanted from me. How was I supposed to fulfill my dream of opening a law firm and owning a fashion industry?

I had to find my way around it somehow. After careful thought, I spoke.

"I accept. What are the details of this contract?" I asked him.

"Good. Pack your things. I will send a driver to come and pick you and Liam up at 6pm. you will sign the paperwork when you get to my place." He responded, completely ignoring the question I asked.

"You want me to move in with you? So soon?"

Everything felt rushed. I felt like I was dreaming. He came even closer to me, his blue eyes staring deep into mine with no space between us. My boobs were pressing into his chest and his breathing became a little intensified. He bent his head a little lower, and made his voice become only a whisper.

"If you don't show up to stay with me and sign those papers then it means you want us to go to court. You and I both know court won't end well for you Vanessa. Choose wisely."

He said to me, his words piercing through me like a needle. He walked out of my house and drove off with his body guards.

At the end of everything, it didn't matter the choice I made. There was no escaping him in any of them because all roads led to Edward Silver. He was so mean and ruthless, this is why I never wanted him to find out about Liam.

I walked over to the kitchen to make breakfast. I had to prepare Liam. Our lives are about to change.

How was I supposed to live with a man who broke my heart? A playboy and a liar?
