Chapter 5 - 5 Gu Bo, the Fiancé

Sheng Xia sighed while looking at her monitor in her cubicle. This stupid job, she was so done with it. She didn't care if that idiot manager would tattle her to that biological father of hers. She truly didn't care.

She hated this job.

She wanted to go back to her real job.

Although she believed in her secretary, she knew all the most crucial decisions still needed her to finalize. She didn't know why her sister gave her a month's vacation. She can do it remotely from here, but Sister Su didn't let her.

Sister Su said she needs to focus on learning about her biological family to decide whether she keeps in contact with them or cuts ties with them for real. So far, her decision has fallen on cutting ties. Besides, this family definitely didn't want her in their lives either.

Actually, Sheng Xia sometimes wants to show her successful version of herself. But, she had seen a lot of cases where even biological family would leave you behind when you faced a disaster, for example, bankruptcy. They only saw themselves, saved themselves. There were a few who stayed behind, but, yep, few. In this kind of circle, money was almost everything.

Sheng Xia stood up from her chair and left the Life and Support Department section. After she left, some of the employees started to open their group chat, gossiping about the new adopted daughter of their boss.

Most of them relished belittling her. They wonder why the Chengs chose her as an adopted daughter and thought that they were better than her. Various thoughts grew, and Sheng Xia didn't know any of them. Though even if she knew, she wouldn't care about any of it.

Not long after, Sheng Xia arrived at the parking lot, planning to go to check out this city's equestrian club. But after a few steps out of the elevator room, after she scanned her employee's card, she stopped. She slapped her forehead. Currently, she didn't have a car. And she knew the driver didn't want to accompany her outside of the scheduled times.

Sheng Xia felt bummed.

Through the glass wall, Sheng Xia saw one of the elevator's doors open, and two female employees came out.

"Are you sure about the news?" One of them asked with expectation written on her face.

The most stylish among them nodded. "Young Miss An said it herself."

The other young woman squealed happily. "I heard that Young Master Gu is not only handsome but also has a knack for business innovation. Is it true?"

The stylish young woman nodded. "They said Young Miss An and Young Master Gu is like a heavenly couple. This is our chance to see the infamous Young Master Gu! If others know we have seen the future son-in-law of the Chengs, they would be jealous!"

The other's smile widened even more.

Sheng Xia's right eyebrow raised, and her sight fell on the elevator that opened one more time. Cheng An came out of the elevator; her expression showed how joyful she was.

Suddenly, a voice was heard from behind Sheng Xia. "An An! I'm here!"

Cheng An seemed to also hear the man's voice. At first, she smiled when she saw him, but when she realized that Sheng Xia was there, for a split second, her face changed.

The man walked toward Cheng An and then pulled her into his embrace. "I miss you," he said. "I have booked the private room in Emerald Pavilion. You like their food, right?"

Cheng An moved her sight from Sheng Xia to her handsome fiancé. She felt proud. This man is her fiancé, not those country bumpkin's. She is the chosen one and the lucky one. Not her.

Sheng Xia rolled her eyes when she saw Cheng An's proud face. Why do you look so proud of yourself? Do you think I will have any interest in that third-rate man of yours? Thought Sheng Xia.

Cheng An looked at Gu Bo, her fiancé, and smiled shyly, "Yes, I like it. Thank you, Ah Bo."

Gu Bo smiled gently and patted Cheng An's straight hair, "I'm glad you like it."

While they hugged each other, a black luxury car drove near them. After stopping, a man wearing a black suit came out from the passenger seat and opened the rear door.

Gu Bo held Cheng An's hand and led her into the car. Then he closed the door and walked toward the other side, that also been opened by the black suit man, who was his assistant.

After Gu Bo entered the car, it didn't start to move, but on Cheng An's side, the window rolled down, and Cheng An's smiling face could be seen.

"Sister?" Cheng An looked shocked. "What are you doing here?"

With Cheng An's exclamation, Gu Bo and the two employees finally realized that there was another person there.

Seriously? She's been here since the beginning, but they just realized I was here? Wow! This is the first time I have been ignored like this. Sheng Xia almost cried to tears while laughing.

Sheng Xia nodded her head toward Cheng An.

"Sheng Xia, I'm sorry I cannot eat with you. My fiancé is here with me. Ah, I don't know that you also want to meet my fiancé," Cheng An looked embarrassed. "It's not that I don't want to introduce my fiancé, but we are on a date, so I thought it wasn't the right time to introduce both of you."

It was a long one-sided performance, and Cheng Xia succeeded in making Gu Bo and the two employees believe that Sheng Xia was here to meet Gu Bo, Cheng An's fiancé.

They scoffed in their heart.

Who is this Sheng Xia, eyeing her sister's fiancé like this?

Sheng Xia almost wanted to applaud. Well, she seldom met a person like Cheng An, so desperate to show off every time they met. Hmm, since she met Sister Su when she was young, it's almost nonexistent, a person who would belittle her like this.

Sheng Xia sighed in annoyance, then nodded at Cheng An. "I wish you a marriage that lasts thousands of years! Excuse me."

After speaking her blessing, Sheng Xia walked toward the elevator. Luckily, the elevator opened directly, and just like that, Sheng Xia left the parking basement.

Cheng An pouted. She didn't believe that Sheng Xia didn't have any intention toward her fiancé. A country bumpkin would easily fall in love with a capable, handsome man like Gu Bo. She needs to be extra cautious from now on.
