Sheng Xia looked at the game controller in her hands.
"Have you played this game before?" Shen Lingfeng showed her the game's casing.
Sheng Xia shook her head. "No. I rarely played games."
Shen Lingfeng frowned. "Really? It's rare to meet people who don't play games."
"I did play mobile games a few days ago, the five-player one."
"Then? What's your rank now?"
Sheng Xia coughed. "... A bronze."
"You!" Shen Lingfeng melted into the sofa. "How could you be that bad!"
"What do you mean by 'bad'," said Sheng Xia while looking at her phone, asking her AI app how to play the game that Shen Lingfeng played on the console. "I won twice."
"Ha, ha. Twice! You are proud of that?" Shen Lingfeng looked at Sheng Xia, feeling this woman had become more stupid than he had thought.
Sheng Xia pouted. "Well, it was true that I wasn't an expert in gaming, but I am good at riding horses."
"You like horses?" asked Shen Lingfeng in disbelief. "First Brother Yaochen also likes horses. He has a horse stable in his villa."
"Really?" Sheng Xia smiled widely. Looking interested. "Recently, the only chance I rode a horse was when I joined an equisterian club."
"Which club?"
"I forgot the name. The luxurious one, near Galaxy Mall."
"Oh, that one! That club was owned by Brother Yaochen."
"That was his?" Sheng Xia nodded. "He has good taste."
"Okay! All prepared! Let's play!"
Then, the two started playing a game until almost six in the evening. at the end, Shen Lingfeng had started to question life.
"Why are you so bad?" asked Shen Lingfeng in annoyance. "Even Little Yanyan, our seventh cousin, who was only four years old, was better than you."
Sheng Xia grimaced. "All my gaming skill was probably sucked into my other skills."
"What an excuse!"
They ended their gaming session, and at the same time, many voices appeared from the living room.
Sheng Xia started to get nervous. After all, this is her mother's family. She wanted to be accepted. Her experience with the Chengs made her a little scared.
"Are you nervous?" Shen Lingfeng, who had accompanied Sheng Xia for a few hours, had grown his protective side toward Sheng Xia.
He had already thought that this girl was too naive to face the world. His distorted mind, which came from seeing how Sheng Xia played games, had already gone haywire, thinking that Sheng Xia was a little bunny that needed to be protected.
Sheng Xia smiled while looking at her nails. "A little bit."
"Don't worry! Our family wasn't bad! You will be fine!" Shen Lingfeng grabbed Sheng Xia's hand and dragged her to the living room.
At the same time, both Grandpa Shen and Grandma Shen were climbing down the stairs. Both elders looked refreshed after taking their nap.
Grandpa Shen looked at his first son, Shen Yuchen, and his second son, Shen Yaoqi.
Shen Yuchen and his wife, Ruan Yaning, nodded. "Dad."
Shen Yaoqi grinned while looking at his father thoroughly. "You look healthy, Dad!"
Shen Yaoqi's wife, Wen Kexin, elbowed her husband. "See? Dad is fine. Dad! You look amazing today!"
Grandpa Shen laughed. "Where is the third?" asked Grandpa Shen when he couldn't find his youngest son.
"Dad is still in Country I. Saying that, my Mom wanted some pizza," said Shen Lingfeng, still grabbing Sheng Xia's hand.
Grandpa Shen nodded and walked to the living room. "Let's talk. There is something that needs to be told."
Grandma Shen approached Sheng Xia and grabbed her other hand. "Come with Grandma."
"Okay, Grandma."
Grandma Shen brought Sheng Xia toward the sofa and sat herself beside her husband while Sheng Xia sat beside her. Shen Lingfeng, who followed behind, sat beside Sheng Xia's other side.
Shen Yuchen, when seeing this movement, lifted his brows. His face even grew darker when he stared at Sheng Xia's face. He started to piece together the current known information that he had.
Shen Yaoqi himself stared at Sheng Xia in bewilderment. He thought he saw wrong, but isn't that young woman Stella Aldridge?
Wen Kexin peeked at her husband, and when she saw her husband's face, she started to take an interest in the new face in the room.
Shen Yuchen and Shen Yaoqi didn't bring their children because they thought there was a problem with the elder, but now, they seemed to be wrong. Ruan Yaning and Wen Kexin both pulled out their phone and contacted their children, who were still in Country C, to come to the Shen's mansion.
Shen Yaxi, the Third Son, wasn't in Country C, so he just contacted his son to come, and that's why Shen Lingfeng was here early.
Grandpa Shen looked around the room, seeing two of his sons with their wives and Shen Lingfeng. He sighed and entwined his fingers.
"Some children and grandchildren weren't here yet, but I think it still needs to be addressed early." Grandpa Shen smiled at Sheng Xia warmly. "A few days ago, this little girl came to me, saying that she was Yayi's daughter. Then I got our blood tested, and the result came out, proving that it was true. It seemed Sheng Xia and Cheng An were switched back then."
Shen Yuchen's brows frowned deeper. Ruan Yaning and Wen Kexin looked shocked. And Shen Yaoqi, his eyes widened, and he shouted, "Impossible!"
Grandpa Shen wanted to throw something to his second son. "What do you mean by 'Impossible'?!"
Shen Yaoqi pointed at Sheng Xia. "But I knew her!"
Grandpa Shen rolled his eyes, tired. "Well, you are indeed the one who takes care of the foreign branch of our Shen's Group, so you might know her, but it doesn't mean it is impossible!"
Sheng Xia smiled and nodded at Shen Yaoqi, "It's nice to meet you again, Mister Yaoqi."
Shen Yaoqi opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
Wen Kexin grabbed her frozen husband and smiled at Sheng Xia. "You knew my husband?"
Sheng Xia nodded. "Yes. We met at a project auction in Country G some months ago."
Grandma Shen stroked Sheng Xia's hand. "What's Mister Yaoqi'? Call him Uncle Yaoqi."
"Uncle Yaoqi," said Sheng Xia, smiling with ease.
Shen Yaoqi himself was still frozen. He still couldn't believe the boss of Summer Star Tech was his niece.
Shen Lingfeng frowned and looked between Sheng Xia and Shen Yaoqi. "Uncle, you knew Sheng Xia?"
Grandpa Shen once again wanted to throw something. "Call her by 'Sister'!"
Shen Lingfeng grumbled. "But we don't look that far in age!"
Sheng Xia laughed. "It's okay, Grandpa. I am fine with it."
"Then, you are our Little Fifth?" asked Shen Yuchen, looking aloof, but a smile grazed his face.
Sheng Xia turned to face Shen Yuchen and nodded. "Yes, Uncle Yuchen. It's me."
Shen Yuchen nodded and glanced at his wife.
Ruan Yaning laughed and grabbed her bag. She looked for something for a while, then pulled out a card. She gave the card to her husband.
Shen Yuchen stood up and walked to Sheng Xia. "Here, take this for now. I will give you a more proper welcoming gift another time."
"Thank you, Uncle Yuchen," said Sheng Xia, shyly. This is a new experience for her.
Grandpa Shen looked at Grandma Shen. Grandma Shen laughed, "Your Grandpa is sad that he isn't the first one to gift you something."
"But, these few days have been amazing thanks to Grandpa and Grandma!"
"Oh, you child." Grandpa and Grandma Shen laughed.
Shen Yaoqi woke up from his frozen state and glanced at his wife. Wen Kexin rolled her eyes and shoved a card that she had already taken from her bag.
"Here!"
Shen Yaoqi stood and walked to Sheng Xia, a bit too excited. "Here! This is a small gift. But I hope you like it, Little Fifth!"
Sheng Xia accepted the card and laughed again. "Thank you, Uncle Yaoqi."
Shen Lingfeng stared at this weird uncle of his. "Why does Uncle look like he met with his idol?"
"I am not," said Shen Yaoqi, "I'm just still processing the news. That's all!"
"Little Fifth, where have you been these past few years?" asked Shen Yuchen.
"After the switch, I was found in front of an orphanage door on a summer's night. Maybe that's why the director named me Sheng Xia. I was adopted in Country C once when I was three. But my first foster parent had a biological daughter two years later. When I was seven, I was abandoned in a small town."
The Shens who heard Sheng Xia's story looked grim. They wanted to investigate which idiots dared to abandon their families.
Sheng Xia smiled while holding Grandma Shen's hand. "It's okay, Grandma. Not long after I was abandoned, I met with Sister Su. She gave me food, clothes, and many things, and then took me away from that small town to live with her in Country A."
"Sister Su, as in Elaine Su?" asked Shen Yaoqi, shocked.
Sheng Xia nodded. "Yes. I met a lot of new friends, learning a lot of new things, and when I was twelve, the age when I almost didn't care about any parent-related thing, I met the Aldridge couple. They like me, and when I was thirteen, they adopted me as their daughter. It was the second-happiest moment in my life."
Grandma Shen had tears in her eyes. "I want to meet them."
"Of course, Grandma. They will be happy to meet you, too."
"Yes, yes. I hope they can attend your banquet later."
Sheng Xia's smile faded. "About that... there is something that I want to tell you guys."
Grandpa Shen realized that Sheng Xia looked sad. "What's wrong, Little Xia?"
"Before I left the Chengs, Cheng An told me something."
"Wait!" Shen Lingfeng looked confused. "Cheng as in the TongCheng Enterprise?"
"Yes. Before I came to the Shens, I was found by the Chengs. But..."
Shen Yuchen sneered. "Don't tell me the rumored adopted daughter of Cheng was you?"
Sheng Xia nodded. "Yes."
"How dare they?!" shouted Shen Yaoqi and Shen Lingfeng at the same time.
Wen Kexin grabbed her husband's hand. "They found Sheng Xia because of their blood relation, right? Then... why?"
Shen Yuchen gritted his teeth in anger. "Probably because of Cheng An."
Ruan Yaning nodded. "That makes sense. Cheng An was famous for being the beloved daughter of the Chengs. They probably didn't want to give Cheng An's position back to Sheng Xia. So, they chose adoption as their way out."
Grandma Shen cried. She already knew this information from her husband a few days ago, but hearing it again still made her heart sad. "My Little Xia..."
Sheng Xia stroked Grandma Shen's hand softly. "It's really okay, Grandma. Actually, I did something to my information that was given to them."
"What do you mean?" asked Shen Lingfeng, who couldn't believe the twist.
Sheng Xia took out two of her IDs from her pocket. "These are my IDs; both were authentic. This one was made when I was abandoned by my first foster parent with some people's help, and the other one was made in Country A."
"Are you telling me that the one the Chengs found was the first ID?" Shen Lingfeng's mouth opened wide.
"Yes. My friends locked some of my information, and only gave them the information that I had lived in a small town after I was abandoned, did a part-time job, and was only an elementary school graduate. After my friends told me about the Chengs, I decided to be just a small town girl who has nothing to my name."
"Nice plan!" Shen Lingfeng looked amazed.
"I met the Cheng's staff for the first time after I arrived at the capital. Before I met the Chengs, they asked me a lot of things, and after confirming my identity, they finally drove me to the Chengs. Too bad, the only person who greeted me at the mansion was the butler."
"That Cheng Changyue!" Grandpa seethed in anger. Grandma Shen immediately stroked Grandpa Shen's back.
Shen Yuchen sneered. "I always knew they had bad integrity, but this adoption thing was really something. How can they put Sheng Xia, the real Yayi's daughter, as only an adopted daughter? Do they even remember us, the Shens? Eventually, we would find out."
Sheng Xia shook her head. "If I were really just a small town girl, I wouldn't dare. I remember the day after I arrived at the Chengs, the butler told me many things about the Shens, and all of it was nothing good. The butler even said that if I wanted to be loved by my biological father, I shouldn't meet with the Shens."
"That Cheng Changyue!" shouted Shen Yaoqi, his face almost turned red. "He is not your father! Just think of him as a sperm donor!"
Wen Kexin elbowed his husband. Sheng Xia and Shen Lingfeng laughed, hearing the nickname.
Ruan Yaning looked at her husband. "Then, who is Cheng An?"
Shen Yuchen sneered again. "Seeing how close she is with the Songs, she is probably Song Tingran's biological daughter."
Ruan Yaning, Wen Kexin, and Grandma Shen looked at Shen Yuchen in disbelief.
Shen Yuchen glanced at Sheng Xia. "Is this what you want to tell us?"
Sheng Xia nodded. "Before I left the Cheng's mansion, Cheng An told me that she was the chosen one. She is the real Young Miss Cheng. The biological daughter of both the Master and Madam Cheng. I was just accepted just because my bio... oh, I mean my sperm donor couldn't hide my existence."
The silence rang out throughout the room, but screams erupted when Grandpa Shen grabbed his chest with a painful expression.
"Father!"
"Grandpa!"
