Chapter 103 - Chapter 104 – Barrett Joins the Crew

Heh… Xiaoyi, thanks for your trouble! Things here are already taken care of. You can head out first!

Just as the navy warship reached the Sabaody Archipelago, the Pirate King Roger was standing on the shore waiting for them.

"Well then, Mr. Sengoku, Mr. Garp… I'll take my leave now!" Fang Yi smiled slightly as he addressed the stunned Sengoku and Garp.

Without waiting for their approval, Fang Yi walked straight over to Roger, gave him a small nod, and left with him.

"Roger… what in the world are you playing at?" Garp asked in complete confusion, staring at Roger, who had just boarded the warship of his own accord.

Roger's sudden appearance was so unexpected that neither Garp nor Sengoku had even reacted to Fang Yi leaving. But even if they had, they wouldn't have stopped him — clearly, Roger's presence was the bigger issue.

"Hahahaha… Garp! It's been a long time!" Roger, stepping onto the warship as though greeting an old friend, laughed and called out to him.

"You bastard! You—" Garp was at a loss for words because, right after boarding, Roger walked straight over to his deck chair, lay down, and looked completely relaxed, as if he were here for a vacation.

"Gol D. Roger… what's your game?" Sengoku asked, equally baffled.

He addressed him by his true name, not the altered "Gol Do Roger" mandated by the World Government. Right now, Sengoku didn't know why, but to him, this man was still Gol D. Roger.

"I… am here to turn myself in." Roger grinned as he said it.

"Turn yourself in?" Neither Garp nor Sengoku believed him for a second, but the fact was right before their eyes — hard to deny.

"Never thought I'd see the day I'd be riding a navy warship!" Roger looked around like an overly curious child, studying every corner of the vessel.

"This isn't the kind of passenger I ever wanted aboard my ship," Garp said grimly.

"What does it matter? Right, Sengoku?" Roger chuckled knowingly.

But Sengoku didn't answer — he was too busy trying to figure out what Roger was thinking.

That didn't stop him from reporting to HQ.

"Bring him back to HQ first," Fleet Admiral Kong ordered after a moment of thought.

"Yes, Admiral." When Sengoku hung up, he found that both Garp and Roger were now lying side by side in deck chairs, looking for all the world like two old friends on holiday.

"…Forget it, let's just get back to HQ," Sengoku muttered, giving up on scolding them for now.

Meanwhile, at Shakky's Rip-off Bar, Fang Yi had already regrouped with Shanks and the others.

On the way back, Shanks had explained the situation to Barrett.

"Sorry — it's my fault you had to spend a year locked up in Impel Down!" Fang Yi embraced Barrett with an apologetic smile.

Barrett just shook his head without speaking.

Seeing that Barrett wasn't in the mood to talk, Fang Yi let him rest, deciding they'd discuss things tomorrow.

That night, Fang Yi sought Barrett out alone.

"I'm planning to head for the East Blue. What about you? Any plans?" On the rooftop of Shakky's bar, Fang Yi handed Barrett a bottle of wine with a smile.

"No idea." Barrett shook his head. "I didn't expect the Roger Pirates to disband."

He still seemed dazed by the news, his eyes carrying a trace of confusion.

"Want to join my crew?" Fang Yi grinned, extending the invitation.

Barrett hesitated but didn't answer immediately.

"Your goal is to be the strongest in the world, right?" Fang Yi continued. "My dream is to travel the entire globe — we'll run into plenty of strong opponents along the way! So? How about we tear this sea apart together?"

Looking at Fang Yi's excitement, Barrett thought for a moment before saying, "If the day comes when I feel I don't belong on your ship, I'll leave anytime I want."

"Of course!" Fang Yi knew from that answer — he'd succeeded.

The two drank together until late into the night before Fang Yi, slightly drunk, returned to his room.

Fang Yi smiled as he looked over his growing list of skills before closing the interface.

Thanks to Roger reaching the final island, all crew members' bounties had increased, and over the past year, Fang Yi's skill set had grown, most notably with Lightning Arrow and Pierce.

The latter proved especially effective against groups, as arrows could now strike multiple enemies in a row, especially when paired with other skills like Lightning Arrow for devastating crowd control.

Both of these new abilities had been acquired through special lottery tickets — gold for Pierce, and yellow for Lightning Arrow — rather than the common ones, which rarely yielded valuable skills.

Currently, Fang Yi still had 14 lottery tickets of various colors, each seemingly tied to different factions or ranks — pirates, marines, officials, and top-ranking individuals.

The gold ones were the rarest, obtained from figures like Tom, the world's best shipwright, Roger himself as Pirate King, and Fleet Admiral Steel Bone Kong, whose rank, at the time, was the absolute peak of naval command.

And so, with Barrett now on board, Fang Yi's journey — and his firepower — had reached a new level.
