Chapter 106 - BUTZ: Chapter 106

Kyōraku Callum swiftly moved to the cat, before it could react, and scooped it into his arms, burying his face in its soft, black fur. A war

Kyōraku Callum swiftly moved to the cat, before it could react, and scooped it into his arms, burying his face in its soft, black fur.

A warm sensation washed over him, like the comforting warmth of an autumn afternoon sun.

"Ah, this feeling is so comforting," Kyōraku Callum sighed contentedly.

"Hey, Kyōraku!" Yoruichi Shihōin's voice, tinged with playful annoyance, interrupted. "You've messed up my freshly groomed fur again!"

However, her initial anger quickly dissipated upon recognizing him. While her words held a hint of complaint, her tone lacked any real displeasure.

"It's alright," Kyōraku Callum replied, completely engrossed in the cat. "I can groom it again!"

Lost in the bliss of petting the cat, Kyōraku Callum was oblivious to everything else. He was utterly captivated.

"Suit yourself," Yoruichi Shihōin responded, her voice laced with a languid indifference. "Whatever makes you happy."

Beep! Beep! Beep! A rapid series of beeps sounded from Kyōraku Callum's inner pocket.

Kyōraku Callum ceased his petting, retrieving a constantly beeping communicator from his pocket.

This device, a product of the Research and Development Institute, was specifically designed for long-range communication in low-spiritual-particle-density environments like the World of the Living.

"Oh?" Kyōraku Callum exclaimed, surprised by the message. "Seireitei's assigned assistant has arrived in Karakura Town. Sister Yoruichi, I'll go meet them." He carefully placed the cat back on the pillow.

"Be careful," Yoruichi Shihōin purred.

Kyōraku Callum used Shunpo, instantly disappearing from Urahara Shop.

Until he confirmed the assistant's identity, he couldn't risk exposing the shop's occupants.

The communicator indicated the individual was coming from the neighboring Shiba city, also severely affected by Hollow disturbances and under Kyōraku Callum's jurisdiction.

"This assistant's strength seems rather… underwhelming," Kyōraku Callum muttered, waiting in mid-air, still without sight of the arriving Shinigami. Minutes passed. He sensed a familiar spiritual pressure. His brow arched in surprise.

"No way, did Yamamoto-old-man show such consideration for his subordinates?"

A shout echoed from afar. "Kyōraku!"

The next moment, the individual arrived at incredible speed—small stature, familiar bobbed hair, a single strand of bangs falling over her forehead, and a delicate, pretty face. Thirteenth Division, Kuchiki Rukia!

"Rukia? Why are you here?" Kyōraku Callum asked, genuinely surprised. "Shouldn't Seireitei have assigned a more capable Shinigami as my assistant?"

Rukia's cheeks puffed out in indignation. "Damn it, Kyōraku! I've mastered my Shikai and become the Fifth Seat of the Thirteenth Division!"

Kyōraku Callum gently poked his index fingers into her puffed cheeks, instantly deflating her anger.

"In that case," he said with a smile, "I'll reluctantly accept you as my assistant."

A radiant smile bloomed across Rukia's face.

"Right," she said, suddenly remembering something. "The situation in Shiba is dire. The Thirteenth Division Shinigami…"

Before she could finish, Kyōraku Callum took her hand and pulled her towards Urahara Shop. "We'll discuss work later. Let me introduce you to a few friends first."

Before Urahara Shop's Kidō barrier, Rukia stared, completely oblivious to the barrier's presence until Kyōraku Callum pointed it out.

"An incredibly sophisticated Kidō barrier," she marveled. "I'd love to meet the person who created this."

Kyōraku Callum ruffled her hair, chuckling. "They're right in front of you."

Rukia's eyes widened in disbelief. "You—you made this?"

Kyōraku Callum nodded, tracing a golden Kidō incantation with his finger. The barrier smoothly opened, revealing Urahara Shop within.

"Oh my, a new friend!" Urahara Kisuke, who was tending the garden, greeted them. "Hello, I'm Urahara Kisuke."

Rukia's shock intensified upon seeing Urahara Kisuke. "You… you're the…"

"Indeed," Urahara Kisuke replied with a smile. "The one exiled by Soul Society." Kyōraku Callum provided a detailed introduction.

"Former Captain of the Twelfth Division, first director of the Research and Development Institute, Urahara Kisuke. You can call him Shopkeeper Urahara. In short, he's quite unconventional."

Urahara Kisuke looked slightly offended. "Kyōraku, do you have a misunderstanding? As a shopkeeper, I'm simply friendly to my customers!"

Kyōraku Callum ignored him, pulling Rukia into the shop.

Urahara Kisuke shook his head, slightly deflated. "Tessai, let's go to Isshin's clinic."
