[Toydarians favor integration with natural terrain for its style of architecture. As they can easily fly around compared to other species, many of its structures will contain open spaces, designed with verticality in mind. With your current upgrades, maneuvering around the city shouldn't be problematic. Be careful when you move around. I have located a landing platform.] Adam said.
Hearing that, I leaned forward. Any droplets of water that made the viewport not viewable was now long gone, and I could see the bustling capital before me. I heard the thrusters flare behind me, and Adam slowed our approach. We were no longer cloaked. It glided smoothly toward a designated landing corridor. I could see floating beacons that acted as signals we could use to land.
[Do not forget to keep His Majesty's insignia on your purpose once you head out. It should keep the locals from questioning your identity.]
I felt both somewhat anxious and anticipation as the gunship lowered onto the landing platform. The city before me was vibrant and alien. Somewhere inside there or beyond it was the Royal City where King Katuunko was. I know I've already been on a couple missions, but those had their courses laid out for me. This one doesn't. It was as if I had truly felt the start of my own journey.
Following some hissing and a subtle quake of the gunship, it landed.
[We have finished the descent. Welcome to Planet Toydaria, Samus.]
"So what's this about a new feature?", I decided to ask, now that we have landed.
[There is still some leftover energy that can be used from your energy tanks so I took the liberty of upgrading your scanning visor. You no longer need to tap your helmet to scan items around you. Nor does it need to be triggered manually. I have integrated my AI into your helmet, and it will scan your surroundings, no matter which direction you head to. Once enough data has been compiled, we can start creating folders I can use back inside the gunship.]
Hearing that, my eyes lit up. An automatic scanner. Now that's nifty. Adam may not be able to register a scan's info right away and might need to decode it since a lot of what we'll encounter isn't familiar, but he'll have access to the holonet to cross-check any pieces of information he may be lacking.
[And since you are genetically bonded with your Power Suit, all you need to do is think of whatever data you want to know about, and if it has been scanned, it will give you its reading while you walk around.] Adam continued, causing me to pause.
"So I'm basically a walking Pokedex now?", I retorted, but remained amazed.
[I am not sure what this Pokedex is that you are referring to, but it will be easy to compile data from here on, nonetheless. Good luck out there, Samus. And please, try not to start a war on your first day visiting this planet. Any objections, lady?] Adam asked me.
"Haha, no promises. I'll be sure to keep His Majesty's seal on my person. Should speed things up. It's possible they might have Guild pubs here on Toydaria too seeing the planet so close to Hutt Space, but I'm not holding any promises to that. I still plan to head to Nar Shaddaa after this, then either onward to Tatooine or back to Kashyyyk to pick up Chewbacca.", I replied. Mandalore will come in due time, but it's like on the other side of the map. You tend to go around the galaxy in a circle a lot. Better than just passing straight through it.
I rose up from my seat and the tension inside my shoulders eased gradually. The trip from the Core Worlds was only a couple days with Adam handling most of the piloting, apart from those lessons he provided me. I wonder, how long would it take for me to start maneuvering the galaxy as easy as he does it?
A hiss of a door followed, and the gunship lights started to dim. Adam entered standby mode inside the gunship, and I heard some beeps inside my helmet. He said he integrated himself into my helmet directly, so once I start identifying stuff, he'll be recording it.
I had no other purpose inside the main chamber. I wondered whether or not I should take some of my funds I received from the Republic and head into a money exchange. Not to a different currency. Carrying ten thousand credits of gold bars could...attract attention. If I bring a few on my person, it won't be enough to raise suspicion, but it will be enough to convert into lower amounts of currency, even if it has a bad exchange rate. I wouldn't even enjoy a meal here if all I have are ingots composed of ten thousand credits each!
I don't have a digital account and I'd rather not start a tab on my very first visit here, so I decided to hide the rest of the money inside a larger spare pouch I had inside my gunship, and take a few gold bars with me with what I received from Mace Windu. I'll definitely grow hungry on my visit here, and I can't be reliant on His Majesty to provide meals for me. Got to do things on my own, so taking some money isn't out of the question. I just need to head toward a facility that can break these for me. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
Tucking that inside, I made my way to the hatch. It whirred open, and a rush of humid air swept into the cabin. Thankfully I had my Gravity Suit equipped, so I didn't immediately feel sweaty. I could still taste the sharp scent of swamp flora nearby. Fog rolled around lazily beneath the city, slowly rising upward to the landing pad I was now on. I could hear faint metallic tangs of speeders driving off nearby. The planet felt alive.
Ignoring the droning of insects I didn't know about, I took my first steps downward, and was already greeted with an obstacle. Nothing was around the landing pad. It was excluded from the city itself, likely by design. I took a moment to observe the bustling city before me.
"It's more dense up front.", I murmured.
[That's a pretty accurate way of putting it. It might appear complex, but it works in a way that doesn't disrupt its environment. They build upward, rather than going outward.] Adam's voice called out to me inside the helmet.
"Is that you, Adam?", I asked, taking a look at my visor. In a small corner, I saw a little tiny version of Adam's holo-face emerge. Quite cute.
I heard my visor ping softly, welcoming his arrival. New data started to stream across its interface.
[I've begun recording data of our surroundings. All of this will be logged through your Auto-Scanner. The marks on your visor will remain faint so you don't get distracted by it.] Adam said.
"Quite efficient, I must say.", I happily replied. "I'll call upon you if I need anything. For now, I'll go seek out an exchange center unless some Toydarians approach me first."
With that said, I began walking, and like I said, I was immediately greeted with my first obstacle. A standalone pad with no way to get to the main city itself. A first test to see how my Gravity Suit does. Igniting its thrusters, I jumped up a bit, and allowed the Gravity Booster to do its thing. It provided a gaining momentum, causing a bluish-purple streak of plasma-like lights to exude from my back. It propelled me all the way beyond the platform, and arrived onto the streets of the city itself. It was then I saw a constant stream of speeders gliding along clearly marked lanes while various Toydarians flapped around, ascending into the skies going about wherever they needed to go.
[Traffic is quite regulated. Failure to comply with local safety ordinances results in hefty fines.]
Hearing that, I paused, and glanced upward to even more structures that stretched onward into the skies above me. Quite a marvelous scene, I must say.
"So we go upward then.", I replied, chuckling. I realized what Adam was referring to here. Our only choice was to go up!
