Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 : A New Power Emerges

Afternoon

The twins walked together toward the school, having to deal with the destruction caused at home after Ichigo's fight with a Hollow the previous day, which apparently involved a truck crashing into the house and fleeing. Rukia had altered the memories of the family members about what happened.

"By the way, what happened to your eyes?" Ichigo asked, staring at his brother's eyes, which had changed from red to a vibrant crystalline blue, as if a galaxy full of stars swirled inside them.

"I don't know, but it seems I was affected by your power and that girl's power yesterday, as I gained a similar ability," Ren said casually, not intending to explain the Six Eyes and planning to ignore it as a sudden mutation. Ichigo had a different interpretation. "Although I don't know how to use this power yet, my physical strength has increased, and I feel a strange energy inside me."

"Do you mean you became a Shinigami too?!" Ichigo's eyes widened in shock; he hadn't expected his twin to be influenced by yesterday's events.

"Maybe. You should know more about this power than I do," Ren shrugged casually. Although he knew he had broken the seal on his power thanks to the Six Eyes, this explanation seemed reasonable and believable.

"I don't know," Ichigo scratched his head in annoyance. "I'll look for Rukia later and ask her about it."

"Okay," Ren nodded casually. Even though he hadn't tried to separate his soul from his body, he could feel his changed astral body — now a Shinigami — and he could summon his Zanpakuto anytime. His Zanpakuto was made from his soul; if he had to compare it, it was like the spirit weapons in Chinese novels, which are weapons imbued with their owner's spirit. Unlike those weapons, Zanpakuto are literally made from part of their owner's soul.

"There are still about three months before people from Soul Society arrive, and I have to get stronger by then," Ren thought as he walked to school. Despite the great power inside him, he was like a child holding a sword without knowing how to use it. Even with the Six Eyes, he had no combat experience or fighting style, not to mention this world had many abilities to learn like Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hohō, Kidō.

Unfortunately, he had no one to teach him, so he was thinking about making a deal with Rukia to train him, though he doubted she would agree, as she still looked down on humans and hadn't lived among them to see them as equals, unlike the original story.

"Well, no harm in trying," Ren decided optimistically. This world was real and very different from his past life memories, so he hoped Rukia wouldn't be as arrogant as in the original story and would be willing to teach him.

Soon, the two arrived at school. It was lunchtime, and many students were outside their classrooms, so their entrance didn't attract much attention, especially since the teachers had been informed by the old man at home that they would be late due to helping clean up after the truck crash.

"You go to class first; I'm going somewhere first," Ren said, changing direction as he intended to see Miko before going to class.

"Okay," Ichigo nodded, waving carelessly to Ren without bothering to ask where his twin was headed, knowing him well enough that he was probably going to see some girl.

Ren ignored the curious and strange looks directed at him because of his black Blindfold. It was odd to see someone wearing a Blindfold leaving the house, especially since he seemed to have no trouble walking or avoiding people.

Although he wasn't too concerned if everyone knew his eyes had changed, he could lie and say they were just colored contact lenses. But he didn't want to overload his brain, so it was better to keep the Blindfold on, especially since he had no active healing ability to fix any damage caused by excessive information intake.

When he reached the classroom, he leaned against a nearby wall, took out his phone, and sent a message to Miko to let her know he had arrived.

{Ren: I'm here, outside your classroom}

Ren didn't need to wait long before receiving a reply from Miko.

{Miko: I'll be with you in a moment}

"..." Ren stared at the message for a moment before putting his phone away, tilting his head back slightly as he stared at the ceiling.

Though he could check on Miko via phone, he preferred to see her with his own eyes and make sure she was okay.

It had been about a week since Miko started seeing ghosts. Since seeing evil spirits, she'd suffered from lack of sleep and mental exhaustion, which was clearly visible on her face despite her attempts to hide it with makeup. Ren wanted to see her and ensure she had gotten enough rest.

While thinking this, he saw Miko coming out of her classroom. Despite using the Blindfold to reduce the info from the Six Eyes, one of its core abilities was 360-degree vision, allowing him to see her clearly even though he was staring at the ceiling.

The Six Eyes granted him exceptional sight; even though Miko was several meters away, he saw her clearly — her pale skin better than yesterday, the dark circles under her eyes mostly gone, and she looked more active and lively.

"Looks like the necklace we got is working perfectly," Ren thought, a slight smile spreading across his lips as he walked toward the beautiful girl with black hair fading to purple tips and golden eyes. He intended to eat lunch with her before returning to class, wanting to hear about the necklace's effects.
