Chapter 4 - Friends

The first thing I could see when I woke up were Lília's enormous breasts covering my field of vision.

She always sleeps shirtless with me since the day I declared my feelings for her and since she is the one who wakes up first in the house my parents haven't noticed.

"Darling... I should get up now, let's not let your parents find out," she murmured as she got out of bed.

"Yes..." I murmured as my hands went to her buttocks, touching them firmly.

"hmmm~" she bit her lips as she held back a moan but after a bit she left the room.

About half an hour later, Lilia knocked on the door again to tell me to wake up.

So I left the room and the first thing I did was go out to the garden where Paul was already training with the sword.

"Haa!...hmmp!...hiyaa!" Paul was shirtless, swinging his sword back and forth in the garden of the house. It seemed routine that sometimes some women would form groups just to watch him train, which seemed to boost my father's stupid ego since he always had that horrible smile of his.

Fortunately, my mother arrived, and after slapping him, he put on a serious face and walked over to me.

"Looks like your boasting didn't go so well for you, father," I muttered with a smile.

"Grrr... brat! Take the wooden sword and imitate my movements!" Paul said grumpily.

So I took the wooden sword my father had recently bought.

It wasn't very big, about forty centimeters in total and weighed about five kilos.

For a normal child, carrying all this weight for a long time would be exhausting, but for me, who now has Saint-rank Touki, this is nothing.

"Okay, Rudy, pay close attention to my movements and imitate them, okay?" he said, and I nodded.

So, with his most serious face, Paul began to swing his sword up and down. There wasn't much science behind this; it's a basic exercise to increase your arm strength when training.

After about 30 swings, Paul stopped and looked at me with his arms crossed.

"Okay, for our first lesson in swordsmanship, I want you to repeat this process until you feel you can't continue," he said, then moved away from me a little.

"Okay," with that slight comment, I began to swing my own sword.

"Hmm... hmmm... hmmm." After about 20 swings, I started to feel the discomfort in my arms, and when I reached 40, I couldn't take it anymore and dropped my sword to the ground.

"Hmm..." Paul said nothing as he continued with his arms crossed. After a few seconds, he smiled. "Rest for ten minutes and continue until you can't anymore."

And so I did. After a few minutes, I repeated the swings, stopping again after 40.

"Hah!" Paul simply let out what sounded like a laugh as he looked at me.

"That's all for today. Tomorrow we'll repeat the process until your body gets used to it... and by the way, I'm about to go out for a walk around town. Want to join me? You can come back before you start your studies with Roxy," he said timidly while scratching his cheek.

'So, a little father-son time, huh? I don't see why I should refuse. Lilia is at the market after all'

"It's okay, Dad," I said with a smile, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

...

Right now, I was riding Caravaggio, Paul's horse, as we patrolled the villa. As I could imagine, the villa's landscapes are simply beautiful. It's a shame that was lost in the massive disaster...

"Rudy, we're heading to the control tower near the forest now. I don't want you to leave my side," Paul said, and I nodded.

And to kill time, I decided to open the system, and with a thought, a blue board appeared before my eyes.

"Hmm?" I raised an eyebrow immediately.

'I'm already a beginner in the God of Swords style? But I only did a couple of swings?!'

I guess my Touki has something to do with it, huh?

After just a little practice, the system already detects me as a practitioner, or so I want to think. Honestly, Morgan's system is too confusing.

"Okay, Rudy, here we are," Paul said suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts.

We immediately found ourselves in front of a tower about ten meters tall where several men with bows and arrows were.

"Do you want me to take you up there while I carry you on my shoulders?" he asked, and I nodded.

So, Paul and I climbed the tower and were greeted by a young man with blond hair...

no, his ears.

'He's an elf, and more specifically, Laws! The father of-'

"..."

'What the hell are these rewards? It's like he's inciting me to do something that's already going to happen!'

"Oh? You're early, Paul!" Laws greeted with a smile, then his gaze fell on me.

"Wow! You must be Rudeus, right? Your father has told me a lot about you! Come on, Phi, say hi," Laws muttered as he looked behind him.

Immediately, a small green-haired girl was revealed.

She was tightly holding onto her father's pants, her gaze on the ground.

I signaled Paul to get me down and I walked slowly toward her.

Seeing me approach, the girl visibly tensed.

'Okay... now how do you talk to a kid this age?'

"Hi! My name's Rudeus Greyrat? And you?" I said as I extended my hand.

The poor girl just let out an "eep!" and took a step back, but when she saw my extended hand, she relaxed a bit and greeted me anyway.

"Sylphiette... that's my name," her voice came out lower than a whisper. If I didn't already know her name, then I wouldn't have.

"Sylphiette? How cute! She's like a wind spirit! Also, your green hair is pretty!"

Complimenting her biggest insecurity is the best next step... or so I think.

"R-really?" she murmured, a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks.

"Of course!" I replied with a smile, and she nodded slightly.

"Wow...it seems those two have become friends so quickly..." Laws murmured softly to Paul who simply laughed with a smile.

'I just hope my son isn't as much of an asshole as me...especially with such an adorable girl like her,' Paul thought as he shrugged.

"Dad! Can I go to the village to play with Sylphie please?" I asked while staring at him.

The man raised an eyebrow in confusion and then looked at Laws who was almost on the verge of tears.

'My little Sylphie finally made a friend!' he thought with joy.

"Okay... But don't go into the forest and come back before nightfall!" Paul warned and so Sylphie and I went down the tower.

The little girl just followed me about five steps behind me, playing with her white coat and looking at the ground.

"So Sylphie? Do you want to play some games with me?" I asked her with a smile.

"g-games?" She stuttered slightly "I-I don't know any games" she said weakly.

"Well, that's a problem...if you want, I can teach you a game! Would you like that?" I asked her with a smile.

"r-really?...b-but the other c-children in the village won't play with you if they see you with me..." She murmured weakly as tears gathered in her little eyes.

"I don't need them, you can be my only friend!"

"Y-your friend?!" She asked raising her voice more than I thought, it was clear that she was caught off guard.

"Yes, of course, I would like to be your friend Sylphie and you?"

"... y-yes... i-I would like to be your friend too, Rudeus."

"Then it's decided!" I said as I took her hand with my destination in sight which was none other than the hill with the tree on top.

We both quickly made our way to where the tree was and I quickly stood in front of the girl.

"Do you want to see something cool?" I said in a mysterious voice, which only earned me a confused look from the girl.

"Well...what do you know about magic, Sylphiette?"

"hmmm?...m-magic?, w-what is that?"

"Well...watch carefully" I muttered and immediately a ball of water quickly formed in my hand.

"Hah! H-how did you do it?!" She cried out in amazement, approaching me only to realize and walk away again with a blush on her face.

"That was magic, my friend! Would you like to learn it?"

"Hmm!... Yes, I would like to!" She said in an excited tone.

"Okay, but to be able to do it like me, you first have to learn the basics, okay?"

"Yeah.."

"Okay then repeat the following sentence after me" I said as I raised my hand towards the ground.

Sylphie did the same while looking at me out of the corner of her eye and so I began to cast the spell."

...

"Let the great protection of water be on the place you seek. I call a refreshing bubbling stream here and now. Water Ball." Sylphiette murmured after a few attempts, and immediately a water ball formed in her hand.

"Wah!" Startled, the girl lost her concentration, and the water ball fell to the ground, soaking her sandals.

"I-I did it!" she cried out with joy as she turned to look at me, only to blush and look away again.

Extremely cute...

"Congratulations, Sylphiette!" I said happily while clapping for her, which made her blush even more.

A weak smile formed on my face. I immediately felt stronger and more agile, all thanks to the Touki that coated my body.

"Okay, Sylphiette!" I said, looking at her. "Now, in order to do magic like I do, you'll have to pay attention to me, okay?"

"Hmm!" She hummed with conviction.

"Okay, I want you to remember that sensation when the ball of water formed in your hand. It felt like a slight tingling, right?" I asked, and she nodded.

"Okay, now I want you to imagine that ball of water forming in your hand, along with the tickling sensation, and try your best."

"O-Okay!" She said as she extended her hand in front of her.

"Hmmmm!!...huaaa...hiiii!" She began to push while writhing, but after a few moments, a ball of water formed in her hand.

"R-Rudeus...I-I did it!!...uuuh..." she announced happily before collapsing.

Right...the mana drain

I had Sylphiette lie down against the tree while I waited for her to regain consciousness.

Her mana reserves are minuscule now, but now that I've started training her since she was little, who knows how much she can improve?

In the original story, her mana reserves only reached Saint rank, but I'm confident her potential can reach Emperor rank!

A couple of hours passed until Sylphiette woke up.

She was embarrassed at suddenly losing consciousness, but I assured her that it was completely normal.

"Good! Right now, your mana reserves are low, but tomorrow you'll be able to conjure twice as many water balls!" I said with a smile.

"R-Really?!"

"Of course, a person's mana reserves grow to twice what they were before when they're completely depleted, and even more so in our first ten years! Imagine how powerful you'd be if you trained every day!" I said excitedly, and I swear I could see stars in the girl's eyes.

"Oh! And one more thing... Don't tell your parents that you've learned magic, okay? I want to keep it a secret between friends, promise?" I said seriously, looking into her eyes.

"Friends..." she murmured, then nodded seriously. "Okay! Now come on, guide me to your house because it's getting late!"

Sylphiette nodded again, and so we ran through the forest.

That day I made my first friend in this world.
