"Hey, you brat! What kind of trouble did you stir up out there to let the enemy destroy our entire Konoha?!"
"Konoha has never been wrecked like this before. You're taking full responsibility for this mess!"
Seeing the senior advisors of Konoha blindly pointing fingers at him, Kazama felt a spark of anger. Just as he was about to snap back, Tsunade suddenly stepped in front of him.
"That's nonsense! Kazama is a hero who saved everyone in Konoha. Without him, how could we have come out of this with zero casualties?"
"Exactly!" Kakashi chimed in right away.
"This attack on Konoha was by the Akatsuki. The reason Kazama has bad blood with them is because they nearly killed Asuma and others at the Fire Temple. Kazama took down Hidan and Kakuzu to save Asuma. Are you two saying we should just let a powerful enemy walk all over us? Are we supposed to abandon our comrades and let them die?"
"Uh…"
Faced with Tsunade and Kakashi's fierce rebuttals, Koharu and Mitokado Homura were left speechless, choking on their own words.
Seeing these two Konoha bigwigs get put in their place, Kazama smirked to himself, deciding not to stoop to their level.
"You two, while it's true the attack on Konoha wasn't my fault, don't worry. As a member of Konoha, I'll naturally help rebuild the village."
"Hmph, you?" Koharu and Mitokado Homura seized the chance to mock Kazama again.
"Do you have any idea how much effort it takes to rebuild Konoha?"
"Exactly! This isn't something you can just punch your way through. It takes time, manpower, resources, and money. Do you get that, kid?"
"For me, rebuilding doesn't take much time, money, or resources. I can rebuild Konoha in the time it takes to burn one stick of incense!"
"Oh, really? Big talk, kid! If you can rebuild Konoha in that time, we'll hand over our advisor positions to you!"
"Deal! You said it yourselves!"
Hearing Koharu and Mitokado Homura take the bait, Kazama chuckled inwardly. With his Mokuton: Renjuka no Jutsu (Wood Release: Serial Pillar Houses Technique), rebuilding Konoha would take mere moments.
"But what if you can't pull it off?"
"Then you can do whatever you want with me!"
"Done!"
Smirking at each other, Koharu and Mitokado Homura were convinced Kazama was doomed to fail. Konoha was razed to the ground—rebuilding it would take at least a year or two.
"Kazama, you can't make bets like this!" Tsunade urged, trying to talk him down.
"Yeah, Kazama, Konoha's in bad shape. Rebuilding isn't something you can rush or finish quickly," Kakashi added in a low voice.
"Don't worry, you two. If I'm making this bet, I've got a trump card up my sleeve."
With that, Kazama strode to an open clearing.
"You two, watch closely!"
"Oh, we'll be watching—watching you make a fool of yourself!"
"Mokuton: Renjuka no Jutsu!"
"What?!"
Just as Koharu and Mitokado Homura were ready to laugh at Kazama's expense…
