Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : The Quiet before the Tempest

Five years had passed since the day the skies bled and the earth burned.

In the slums of District 17, where the smoke of war still lingered in broken buildings and half-lit alleys, a young man named Kaien walked silently with a bundle of scrap metal on his back. To the world, he was a no one—a forgotten orphan making a living from salvaged tech and discarded parts. But deep within his heart, Kaien carried a fire. Not of hatred… but of purpose.

That day five years ago, when the government forces hunted down the leader of the insurgents like dogs, Kaien had been there. Just a boy then, hiding behind a collapsed wall, he saw the man—Kyros, a warrior who stood his ground to the last breath. Kaien remembered the way his blade carved through enemies like light, and how his eyes, even in death, held no fear—only resolve.

Since that day, Kaien had trained in secret, not as a soldier, but as a believer. He followed whispers of survivors, gathered fragments of the old ideals, and read banned texts. The world outside saw peace, but he knew it was an illusion.

Today, rumors whispered that a survivor from the old rebellion had returned to the city. Kaien's heart pounded. If it was true… if any remnant of Kyros's resistance still existed… he had to find them.

Not because he was strong. Not because he had a weapon. But because he had a vow.

That one day, he too would rise—not for vengeance, but for truth.

And far above, in the halls of the ruling council, unseen forces stirred, watching the boy whose spark might reignite the fire.
