Chapter 50 – Fisher Tiger
Three months later — Malt Island.
At this point, the official headquarters of Marine G-11 had been fully relocated to Malt Island.
And frankly… it was just like Sengoku to stir things up.
The moment he caught wind of how Vice Admiral Tachibana Kyūjō had fought Big Mom for ten days straight—taking on the mighty Emperor of the Sea and seizing control of Malt Island—he issued a firm, no-nonsense order:
"Abandon the unfinished base. Construct a full Marine G-11 HQ right there—on Malt Island. Right on Big Mom's doorstep."
In other words, he practically threw Kyūjō into a boiling pot of lava.
But as the months passed, surprisingly… nothing happened.
Big Mom hadn't retaliated. She didn't send a fleet. She didn't come crashing down from the skies.
It was as if a strange, mutual balance had formed—two giants standing still, neither willing to take the first step into war. Like a river flowing quietly past a well, neither disturbing the other.
And within the borders of Totto Land—Big Mom's domain—Kyūjō's name had become something to fear.
"Seiryu" Tachibana Kyūjō. The Marine Vice Admiral. A swordsman capable of cutting down Charlotte Katakuri, Big Mom's strongest Commander, in one strike.
He then slashed through Charlotte Cracker—one of the top five Sweet Commanders—in a single sword swing.
And finally, he went head-to-head with Big Mom herself—for ten days.
Their battle was so devastating, it destroyed two entire islands.
Although the official word from the Big Mom Pirates claimed Kyūjō lost and retreated, not a soul in Totto Land dared question his strength.
Charlotte Katakuri, who knew exactly what Kyūjō was capable of, had given one clear order:
"No one is to provoke him. Ever."
And so, no one did.
Even the claim that Kyūjō "fled after ten days" was nothing more than a one-sided tale.
Strangely enough, neither side bothered to deny it.
Big Mom never confirmed the story. Truth be told, she barely remembered the fight. At the time, she'd been suffering from a raging hunger pang.
But the fact she nearly died from starvation during the duel?
That alone made her hesitate to face him again.
As for Kyūjō...
He had no complaints.
Let the world believe what it wanted.
His name was already too famous as it was.
The Butcher of the Supernovas. The Slayer of Golden Lion Shiki. The One Who Fought Big Mom for Ten Days.
He'd made headlines across the world.
Even Morgans—the so-called "King of the News"—kept pestering him for an exclusive interview.
Kyūjō ignored every single request.
He didn't need more attention. The more eyes on him, the higher the risk…
Especially from Imu-sama—the shadowy sovereign lurking behind the World Government.
Kyūjō didn't even carry the Will of D in his name…
But still, he was walking a dangerous path.

Fortunately, at just the right moment, someone else stepped into the spotlight—someone whose actions would shake the world and steal that attention away:
Fisher Tiger.
That was the name Kyūjō heard that day from Old Man Sengoku.
The moment it was spoken, vivid memories flashed in Kyūjō's mind.
Fisher Tiger—once a notorious street gang leader on Fish-Man Island.
To Jinbe, the future Shichibukai, and Arlong, tyrant of the East Blue, he was known simply as "Captain."
In his youth, he had roamed the seas as an adventurer and explorer, eventually earning the deep respect of the Ryugu Kingdom.
He was welcomed as an honored guest by King Neptune and Queen Otohime themselves.
But his fate took a cruel turn.
One day, during his travels, he was captured and sold into slavery.
Years of torture followed. He witnessed humanity's darkest depths—its cruelty and madness.
But he never gave in.
After three years of hell, he escaped the shackles of slavery with unbreakable will.
Upon returning to Ryugu Palace, he stood before Neptune and Otohime, and spoke of the nightmare he'd endured. Of the world that treated slaves as less than animals.
The pain ran deep.
And so, Fisher Tiger made a choice—
He would take the fight to the very top.
With his bare hands, he scaled the towering Red Line.
He infiltrated the Holy Land Mariejois—the sacred stronghold of the Celestial Dragons.
He set buildings ablaze. He shattered chains. He freed thousands of slaves—men, women, children—of every race and background.
Among them were three young girls from Amazon Lily.
One would grow up to become the Pirate Empress herself—Boa Hancock.
This single act of rebellion would become known as:
The Assault on Mariejois — The Fisher Tiger Incident
It was the first time someone had ever dared storm the very heart of the World Government.
And it sent shockwaves across the globe.
In the eyes of the oppressed, he was a liberator—a hero.
To the World Government?
A criminal of the highest order.
He was now the most hunted Fish-Man alive.
He may not have possessed the monstrous power of a Yonko or an Admiral...
But he had done something far greater—
He had defied the World itself.
And that alone was enough to catch Kyūjō's attention.
"Should I save him...?"
The thought crossed Kyūjō's mind.
— — —
"Oi, are you even listening to me?!"
Sengoku's annoyed voice burst from the Den Den Mushi.
Kyūjō blinked.
Oops. He'd been lost in thought.
Looking down at the snail phone, he asked calmly,
"Old man... who's chasing Fisher Tiger right now? CP or our people?"
"Both," Sengoku replied with a long sigh. "CP9 was dispatched by the World Government. We've also sent two Vice Admirals from our side."
A heavy silence fell.
Then, Kyūjō asked, voice level but cold,
"…Where is he now?"
There was a pause.
Then—finally—Sengoku answered:
"Grand Line... near Kent Island."
And with that, the Den Den Mushi went dead.
In the Fleet Admiral's office at Marineford, Sengoku sat in silence.
His eyes drifted up toward the giant banner hanging on the wall.
The word "Justice" loomed large above him.
He said nothing.
And waited.
