Chapter 224 - Capture Team Annihilated

Chapter 21 – Capture Team Annihilated

Watching the Captains unleash their respective Bankai one after another, a faint smile curved across Tachibana Kyūjō's lips.

His armory of Bankai had just increased by five more.

That said, he was a little disappointed.

He hadn't seen Yoruichi Shihōin's Bankai yet. Did her short blade truly not have one? Or... was there more to it?

Even in the middle of a battlefield like this, Kyūjō had the luxury of letting his mind wander.

— — —

Suddenly, the five Captains broke through the swirling storm of cherry blossom blades and launched themselves skyward, charging directly at him.

Only then did Tachibana Kyūjō raise his palm.

In an instant, a brand-new Zanpakutō materialized in his hand—yet the Senbonzakura Kageyoshi formation around him didn't fade at all.

As soon as Urahara Kisuke saw the long blade now resting in Kyūjō's grip, his brows furrowed sharply.

Wait a minute... wasn't that his own Zanpakutō?

No way...

But yes—his instinct was right.

A soft whisper escaped Kyūjō's lips, "Bankai—Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame."

In a flash, a towering woman appeared behind him, styled in traditional Japanese hair and wearing a sleeveless kimono. Her joints were like those of a puppet, her presence overwhelming.

Compared to Urahara's original Benihime, Kyūjō's version was noticeably larger—more intimidating.

Urahara's eyes bulged like bronze bells. The scientist within him couldn't contain the curiosity that now burned uncontrollably.

Ignoring the chaos around him, Urahara immediately called out, "Kyūjō! What even is your Bankai?! Can you copy every Bankai like that? And... there's no limit?!"

Kyūjō replied casually, without the slightest attempt to conceal anything. "Yeah, pretty much. As long as your Bankai hasn't been pushed to its ultimate form, I can copy it. Unless, of course, I push mine just as far."

"As for how many I can use... that depends on my spiritual pressure. Right now? I can handle five at once."

Urahara's eyes gleamed like a child discovering a new toy. "Sugoi!!"

Ukitake Jūshirō: "..."

Kyōraku Shunsui: "..."

Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi: "..."

Yoruichi Shihōin, silently: Thank goodness I never learned Bankai.

Meanwhile, Chōjirō Sasakibe screamed internally, Seriously?! Can someone PLEASE look over here?! I'm dying holding this thing back!

— — —

A moment later, Kyūjō calmly duplicated three more Bankai:

Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū – Kyōraku Shunsui's elegant and deadly illusion-based Bankai.

Sōryū no Ryūka – Ukitake Jūshirō's dual-bladed elemental release, now in Bankai form.

Kinshara Butōdan – Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi's golden whip of sound, brought to life with overwhelming flair.

Everyone except Yoruichi now found themselves facing their own powers turned against them.

Noticing Kyūjō no longer had a weapon in hand, Yoruichi—the undisputed queen of Shunpo—smirked and flashed forward like a streak of lightning.

She was going to end this.

Kyūjō was unarmed. What could he possibly do?

The crystal base was right in front of her.

Behind her, the others—especially the exhausted Sasakibe still barely holding against the blizzard of sakura blades—watched with desperate hope.

Silently, they prayed: Go, Yoruichi... finish it!

— — —

As Yoruichi's short blade sliced toward his side, Kyūjō sidestepped with ease, still wearing that relaxed smile.

Then he whispered softly:

"Nijimidasu kondaku no monshō. Fusonnaru kyōki no utsuwa. Waki agari, hitei shi, shibire, matataki, nemuri o samatageru..."

It was the chant for a Kidō spell—Hadō No. 90: Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin).

Yoruichi's chest tightened. She surged forward, faster than ever.

She had to stop him before he finished the incantation.

If she didn't, there was no doubt—all six of them would fall in one move.

But... reality wasn't always so kind.

Despite pouring every ounce of her speed into that single dash, she couldn't land a single hit on him.

— — —

"Hakōsuru tetsu no ōjo. Taezu jikaisuru doro no ningyō. Ketsugōseyo, hanpatsuseyo. Chi ni michi onore no muryoku o shire!!"

"Hadō No. 90: Black Coffin!"

As the final word rang out, Yoruichi simply froze.

She didn't run. She didn't fight it.

She just stood there, letting the darkness enclose her.

She knew Kyūjō wouldn't kill them—not yet—but the frustration boiled inside her.

Has everything they said about me... the title "Goddess of Flash"... all been just Seireitei propaganda?

A resonant clang echoed across the battlefield.

That sound echoed deep into Sasakibe's chest... and crushed what little hope he had left.

As he feared, they were all going to lose to a single man.

— — —

The coffin of shadows sealed Yoruichi inside.

But Kyūjō stopped the destructive effect from activating. He'd used the spell only for containment—not to injure her.

In truth, he could've cast Black Coffin without even reciting the chant.

But he did so on purpose—to avoid harming her.

Had he wanted to, he could've cast something even more dangerous—like Hadō No. 99: Goryūtenmetsu—without a single word.

Such was the nature of his Limitless Overload state. It amplified his Kidō to unnatural levels.

Normally, a Shinigami needed time, formulas, and precise chants to execute Kidō properly.

But Kyūjō?

He was like a walking supercomputer, capable of launching any spell flawlessly.

If most Kidō users were like children with abacuses, and geniuses like Aizen were calculators...

Then Kyūjō had become an artificial intelligence.

Just with Kidō alone, he could've defeated them all.

— — —

After sealing Yoruichi away, Kyūjō didn't attack again.

He simply stood there—calm, commanding—controlling five powerful Bankai simultaneously.

One by one, the Captains began to fall.

The first to collapse was Chōjirō Sasakibe—the right hand of Commander Yamamoto himself.

His Bankai, Kōkō Gonryō Rikyū, shattered instantly.

Sasakibe dropped to his knees, face pale, his spiritual pressure completely drained.

Seeing that, Kyūjō raised a hand—and the endless storm of sakura blades swept back toward the remaining Captains.

The pressure intensified.

Soon after, Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi fell as well, defeated in less than a minute.

Now only three remained—each now forced to face an extra Bankai on top of their own struggle.

— — —

Urahara Kisuke and Ukitake Jūshirō followed shortly after, their Zanpakutō—Benihime and Sōryū no Ryūka—utterly destroyed.

Only one Captain remained.

Kyōraku Shunsui.

Captain of Squad 8. A man whose true strength was said to run deeper than any of the others.

Now he stood alone, staring at five incoming Bankai.

He sighed.

Then... sheathed his sword.

"If you're gonna use cheat codes, then yeah... I fold."
