Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

The house was quiet like life was drained out of it.

Selene headed to her room to have a quick shower.

The portion mixing had been keeping her up most nights, she barely had time to sleep.

Changing her mind, decided to have a warm bath instead.

She laid down, face upwards watching the ceiling. Her thoughts racing, she couldn't still understand how the concept of making a tracking spell was so hard.

No matter how much she tried, it wouldn't work but still she was resilient.

Worse still, the poor child is still under the masking spell and doesn't know about it yet whenever she might be.

She turned towards her lamp post drawer, opened and took a precious material.

A golden wrist necklace bound by diamonds dangling around the gold firmly. It had this shiny feature recognizable from afar.

It was the precious gift Lucien gave to Valeria on their proposal night.

Valeria couldn't stop talking about it to her sister. Lucien had made it single handedly, branding it to his own style for his beloved, and she wore it almost all the time, apart from the day of that accident.

It was part of her sister and held it tight to her chest.

Eyes stinging, she blinked away the tears. She took it that night as it was the last reminder of her sister and Lucien.

Instantly she wiped her tears, dropped it back, resting her head more on the pillow.

Sleep came crawling as exhaustion took over and slowly she drifted off to sleep.

***

A loud thud jolted her from sleep, the sound came from downstairs.

'Who is there?'

She calmly tossed her duvet with the wrist necklace in hand, her steps steady as she trudged down the stairs.

She scanned the living room and saw nobody. Strange.

She felt soft furs in her legs, glanced down and saw Whimsy snuggling her feet.

"Meow."

Selene gently stroked her.

"Was that noise from you?"

"Meow," Whimsy replied and fled from her sassily.

Selene mentally rolled her eyes and headed to the kitchen.

"Argh! Whimsy, what have you done?"

The sight in front of her was traumatizing.

There was her portion which she'd spent months making, on the floor.

"No no no." She panicked trying her best to scoop it back in the pot.

As she tried scooping it in, the wrist necklace slipped from her wrist, falling into the portion.

"Gosh!"

She picked it up to clean it fast, but something happened.

The bracelet was almost dustlike in the mix as a trail of purple and Jade color emanated from it and into the air.

Selene gasped as the trail literally had the scent of Valeria and Lucien.

She glanced at the bracelet on the floor, shock evident on her face as she picked it up, putting it into the pot covering it.

The tears were already streaming down her eyes as the kitchen had the scent of her loved ones.

It felt like it was taunting her actions as repeated memories flashed in her mind.

***

"Selene! I can't believe he gifted me this precious jewel" Valeria excitedly showcased it to her.

It was the next two afternoons after the proposal, they were hanging out together.

"This is really gorgeous…

***

Her chest tightened as the memories kept on replaying in her till she shook her head hard, clenched her fingers and ran out of the kitchen.

She'd finally found something that could help her find her lost niece.

Whimsy as usual was curled up on her pet bed, swaying her tail lazily, tongue cleaning her fur.

Selene immediately carried her up and twirled her around.

"Thank you, thank you we are almost there Whimsy." She laughed out loud, overjoyed by the fact that her niece would soon be found.

Eyes wide and in huge shock, Whimsy just stared at her, meowing away for help, till she was dropped.

That was her chance as she crawled away dizzy, bumping on the table twice.

"Sorry Whimsy!." Selene called out as she slumped on the cushion.

Finally, the day now is coming near. She could finally find her.

After all those years of searching she could finally get a peace of mind, what she needed most at this point was a long night's sleep.

****

The beautiful rays of the morning sun cascaded gracefully in the room.

Selene had woken up,a soft sigh escaped her mouth as she stretched on the bed.

She couldn't point it out but she felt lighter and more at peace today, her face booming with smiles.

She got up to have a quick shower, examining the large amount of clothes in front of her, she couldn't decide on which one to pick.

She opted for the orange floral dress, paired with white flats, kept her hair in a burn and headed downstairs.

She opened the portion mix, the bracelet formed a very unique colour and smell.

She picked it gently dropping on a white plate-like board, casting a track spell on it, and a bob appeared in her front.

A house appeared before her eyes.

This house!

She gasped as memories of when Valeria and Lucien had wanted to live with humans.

This was exactly the same house. She'd never gone there since she only saw it through pictures or portals Valeria made.

The town had a few number of werewolves living amongst the humans who knew less or nothing of such creatures walking among them

She never thought of it all these years gone by, if she could slap herself repeatedly she would now.

Moonville was truly a wonderful town.

Then Valeria would spill everything that happened there with her, literally a big sister little sister duo.

Her vision had gotten blurry again but immediately blinked away tears.

Now is not the time to be emotional, she needed to get her niece back.

The only way accessible to that area was going through portals as she was in Spain currently and Moonville was really far away.

Carefully placing the bracelet in a protective shield, she tucked it in her purse ready to leave.

"Meow."

Oh, she forgot Whimsy.

Whimsy padded up to her, she hadn't been fed yet and she had that sassy look of 'where do you think you're going?'

" Hello baby, forgot to feed ya come here." Selene picked her up and walked to the counter to feed her.

She opened the kitchen cabinet, bringing out a tuna tin, pouring it on Whimsy's plate.

Whimsy watched her owner's hands with hunger as she poured her food.

Not a second pass, she rushed to eat her meal like a starved cat.

Selene sighed and chuckled as Whimsy ate like she hadn't eaten two whole tuna last night.

She sat down and sipped some coffee as she waited for her cat to finish.

When Whimsy was done, Selene cleared out and cleaned the kitchen.

Whimsy just stood watching curiously as her owner finished.

"Meow."

Selene had a feeling she was asking if where she was heading to and sighed.

"Whimsy, I'll be back in a couple of days but don't worry I'll drop you at the animal center. I'll be back in a few days." She said.

Whimsy meowed and sassily walked off.

Oh boy.

****

So this is it.

Selene stood in front of the house. Her chest tightened as all she could see here was her sister.

"Meow."

Selene sighed as Whimsy padded over to her.

Of course she wouldn't agree to stay at the animal shelter and had to literally bruise some of the staff there, so she opted to carry her along then.

Whimsy watched the house with curiosity in her eyes, walking up front to the door besides her owner.

Selene knocked at the door, hands trembling with sweaty palms.

No response.

She tried again.

Still no response.

She then twitched the door handle and it opened.

Oh no.

She brought out the bracelet on her palms, removed the protective shield as the scent evolved the whole room.

The trails were faded at the moment but left a thicker trail outside the house.

Meaning Aurora hadn't been here a couple while.

She was the only one who could see the trail.

A fowl scent was also mixed in here.

Vampires.

Those mosquitoes had gotten to her niece before she could.

She couldn't fight them off alone. She needed help and she would get it.

It's war they want, it's war they'll get.
