Chapter 195 - CHAPTER 194

Uchiha Yuexuan

"How are your thoughts? You'll have to make a decision once we return." A ninja beside Taiyi asked as they moved swiftly through the forest.

The one speaking was Uchiha Yuexuan, a prodigy of the Uchiha clan and one of the two elite jōnin who had come to their rescue.

Yuexuan was well known among the clan—his genius often compared to Itachi's in temperament, though unlike Itachi, he was a staunch loyalist to the Uchiha. After graduating from the Academy, he returned directly to the clan, awaiting assignments from the elders.

At first, Yuexuan specialized in kenjutsu and the Body Flicker Technique. He even modified the Body Replacement Technique into his own advanced version of the Body Flicker. However, because he rarely accepted missions, he had few opportunities to sharpen his skills or awaken his Sharingan. In the eyes of most of the clan, he was talented but not exceptional.

That changed during a rescue mission. When a clansman was killed before his eyes, Yuexuan awakened his Sharingan in the heat of battle. From that moment, his reputation skyrocketed.

Now, he has mastered advanced Fire Release and Lightning Release ninjutsu. His kenjutsu incorporated both elements, allowing him to forge a style known as the Lightning Flame Sword. Whether against giant summons or skilled shinobi, Yuexuan's techniques gave him a significant advantage. Yet, none of these compared to his crowning achievement—his personal evolution of the Body Flicker Technique.

His Konoha Body Flicker was an adaptation of the Body Replacement Technique. Normally, substitution was a limited, one-time defense with long preparation, often abandoned by veteran shinobi. Yuexuan re-engineered it: he converted the passive substitution into an actively triggered technique and linked it with sealing. By storing specially treated leaves as substitute material, he could perform his Body Flicker multiple times—so long as the sealed leaves held out.

The drawbacks were clear. First, the leaves had to be prepared beforehand. Second, the quality treatment that made them compatible with sealing was costly—far more expensive than ordinary logs. Overusing the technique could drain resources quickly. Still, with his Sharingan to control the timing of activation, Yuexuan's version was nearly seamless in combat.

Despite its flaws, it remained a form of spatial ninjutsu, putting Yuexuan in rare company. In fact, before Namikaze Minato's rise, the Uchiha Elders had even considered Yuexuan as a Hokage candidate. But compared to Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique, Yuexuan's talents seemed narrow. Even so, his value to the clan was unquestioned. That was why he had been dispatched on this mission.

There was another reason as well—Yuexuan had long been a mentor to Miyue and her younger brother Tsuki. For him, rescuing them came before any official assignment.

As they pressed forward, Yuexuan glanced at Taiyi, his expression calm but firm.

"I know you're reluctant to leave them," he said, flicking his eyes toward Shirō, "but you must understand—you are different from them. Konoha will never truly value us."

He continued coldly, "One day, you will be left far behind by him. In this village, strength is the only way to speak as equals. Surely, you've seen how the clan is treated. You don't need me to spell it out."

His words made Taiyi pause. "If I'm not mistaken," Yuexuan pressed on, "someone from the Hokage's circle has already approached you, haven't they?"

Taiyi's eyes widened. "Oh?"

Yuexuan smirked. "I thought so. Then tell me—do you honestly believe he can change how the Uchiha are treated?"

Taiyi hesitated, then sighed. "…No. But there's still Hokage-sama—"

"Do you believe him?" Yuexuan cut in.

Silence fell. Taiyi knew Hiruzen Sarutobi well. The Third Hokage always spoke righteously, but rarely took decisive action, especially in matters concerning the Uchiha. Since Katsuki's arrival, the difference had grown even clearer: she received whatever she asked for, while the Uchiha got little more than praise and the occasional jutsu.

Taiyi believed Hiruzen was sincere in wanting reconciliation. He could feel it in the man's words. But sincerity without action was meaningless. Recently, hints from an invitation he'd received had confirmed it for him: when it came to the Uchiha, the Hokage could not follow his own convictions.

That was what disappointed Taiyi most. No matter how noble the words, if they never became reality, they were lies.

Now, Yuexuan's arguments were the final straw, tipping Taiyi's heart toward a decision.

If Shirō had aspired to become Hokage, Taiyi might have remained in Konoha's structure to support him. Shirō had the talent and background for it. But Taiyi knew very well Shirō had no interest in the position. With that path closed, there was little reason for Taiyi to stay loyal to Konoha's system.

Yuexuan caught the shift in Taiyi's expression and allowed himself a faint smile. He didn't press further—the decision was already made.

The truth was plain: the Uchiha's treatment in the village was poor. On paper, they commanded the Police Force. In reality, that very position poisoned their reputation. While other shinobi risked their lives at the frontlines, the Uchiha remained in the village, seen as arrogant overseers.

Many of the clan's elders ignored this, convinced that fewer casualties and greater authority were blessings. Only a handful understood that the Police Force role isolated the Uchiha and deepened the mistrust from the rest of Konoha.

Yuexuan was one of the few who saw it clearly. He dreamed of decentralizing the Police Force, spreading responsibility across clans, and freeing the Uchiha to regain respect. If he became Hokage, that change would be easy. Only then could the Uchiha rise to their full potential.

But that was for the future. For now, their chances were slim. The clan could only plan carefully and slowly.

After confirming Taiyi's leaning, Yuexuan's focus shifted back to the mission. He was worried about Miyue. Unfortunately, in this terrain, summoning his great bird was impossible.

His eyes flickered briefly toward Shirō.
