Chapter 2 - Creation

A void—That's where all life began. Never-ending, ever-expanding.

Within that emptiness, energies stirred—Wild, formless, and raw. They pulsed in colors and shapes unknown to mortal eyes, And from these energies emerged the first of the Primordial.

Erebus, the darkness. The blackened essence of the void itself. A silence so deep it devoured light.

Then came Nyx, The veil of twilight. She blanketed the infinite dark with shifting patterns of starlit mist, Wrapping the void in mystery.

From the center of it all, Where forces converged in violent harmony, Came Tartarus—A gaping pit, endless and cold. The underworld's foundation, deep within existence itself.

Around Tartarus, she emerged: Gaia, the Earth. She wrapped herself around the chasm, Stabilizing the chaos within. She became the platform upon which all else would grow.

And around Gaia, I was born. Ouranos, the Sky. A dome of endless blue and silver, A ceiling for life to one day gaze up at in wonder. I stretched wide, cradling the earth below.

But that wasn't the end. From Chaos came one more.

Eros, the primal force of procreation. The binding thread, the attraction between all things. The push that made creation inevitable.

And so, this, my friends…Is another chapter in my strange journey—The life of HIM. Me. Ouranos. Ahem.

---

Waking up, I found myself in a blank space.

But even so—I didn't have a physical body.

What a bummer. I thought I'd avoid this kind of fate.

Wandering around for a while, I eventually realized there was no way out… or around. Each time I moved, it felt like I ended up in the exact same spot.

Unexpectedly, when I started thinking about food—specifically pizza—it appeared. Yeah. A perfect, hot slice of pizza just… showed up.

That basically confirmed one thing: I might be a Primordial with reality warping abilities.

I mean, I wouldn't mind that at all.

As time passed and I kept experimenting, I eventually came to the conclusion: this might be my domain. My own realm, if that makes sense. Wait—realm sounds way cooler. We're going with that.

So, with all my tinkering in this newfound realm… I decided to build.

The first thing I created? A seat.

A throne, to be exact—snowy-blue, like the color of clouds. Definitely fluffy. Puffy. Soft as a marshmallow.

…Not that I had a body to feel it. But still. It looked comfy.

Then under the throne, I made a firm, cloud-like platform. Something I could walk on. Instead of boring floors, I made little cloud paths. But here's the fun part—if someone or something steps on the path for too long… it floats down.

Straight to Chaos.

lol, I'm evil.

Ahem. Just a precaution.

…Okay, I lied. It looked cool, so I kept it.

But honestly… it was kind of lonely.

So I started messing around more.

I made small floating lights that pulsed and expanded, like stars. I added planets—one with rivers and green lands, another plain and cratered like the moon, and a third made entirely of water.

Then I transformed the black space around me into an aurora—various blues, none overpowering the others.

It was beautiful… but still lonely.

After a few more creations—like dripping lights and clouds that always moved—I finally made a decision.

I was going to fix the loneliness.

I would create… my own offspring.

Isn't that exciting?

I pictured them in different sizes. I didn't want them to all look the same. Their hair looked like thin lines of clouds molding their figures, with pale skin tones and various, uh… parts and things. Anyway—

The only thing I needed to make them was a name.

And to boost my ego a little… I called them Sky Nymphs.

Haha! Yes. I think I just made the first nymphs.

Think? No—I definitely did.

Their personalities varied, but one thing stayed constant: their loyalty. These beings were my children. I would cherish them as such.

Step one in not being a terrible father: communication.

Wait… why aren't they talking?

They're just… staring at me.

Oh, that's weird.

OH. I'm dumb. I forgot to give them vocal cords.

I didn't even imagine them with the ability to speak!

First time making kids, okay?

Wait, I also need to give them shape-shifting abilities. Oh—and freedom. Both within my realm and within my body in the Overworld.

Speaking of that body in the Overworld… I never actually went.

Eh, that's for another time.

Right now, I have to teach them decency.

They're still naked.

Let's fix that.

Clothes made of clouds—comfy and modest.

Thinking about it… aren't they physical beings?

Wait, why don't I make a physical body in this realm?

Would that weaken me?

Could it allow beings to hurt me?

Now that's just scary. I'll think about it later.

Ahem.

Time to talk to my children.

"Hello, my beautiful children," I said. "You already know my name—since I made you."

Some nodded. Some smiled while nodding.

"Do not think that your newfound life is to be still and emotionless. As my children, you are free to do as you please—in this realm or in my domain in the Overworld."

I paused.

"But I won't allow you to leave yet. I don't think it's safe for you at the moment. And if anyone were to harm you…"

My tone darkened.

"…I would go to war."

They looked beyond happy—giddy even—exchanging excited looks with each other.

"Remember, you have freedom… but also consequences," I continued. "In this realm, you may explore. You may create. You may ask me questions. And remember—your father will always have time for you."

As I spoke, a warm atmosphere spread throughout the space.

Wait—so my mood reflects the realm?

Ahh, interesting…

With that, I waved them off, and they eagerly floated into the vastness of the realm—laughing, darting through the aurora like sparks dancing across water. Their joy colored the skies with soft bursts of light.

Eventually, I thought, I'll give each of them a domain—maybe rain, mist, even thunder once they roam the overworld. But not yet. Domains… domains make gods, don't they?

They were born as sky nymphs. But my children? They're destined to become more. Powerful. Respected. Safe—even when I'm not watching.

But—

Huh?

There it was again. A strange hum. Subtle, but steady—almost musical.

It didn't come from the nymphs. They all stopped what they were doing mid-flight. One paused mid-laugh. Another turned toward me with a frown.

"Father?" one called out. "What's that sound?"

I didn't answer right away. I extended my awareness instead, releasing a ripple of aura outward like a slow breath. The hum responded—gentle but unmistakable.

Something was brushing against my realm. Not barging in… just close enough to be felt.

A presence.

"I'll be back," I told them. Some looked concerned. A few floated closer to each other, forming small protective clusters. They didn't panic, but they knew enough to be cautious.

I shifted.

Becoming sky. Becoming air. I reached out to the overworld in my formless way, letting my essence blend into the upper atmosphere like a cloud on a quiet day.

And that's when I saw her.

Standing calmly atop a high peak—alone—was a figure. A woman-shaped silhouette made from soft shadows and distant light. She didn't glow, didn't move much, didn't speak.

But her presence was there.

It felt like night had quietly walked into the sky and decided to stay for a while.

Back in my realm, the children hovered still, watching. One of the younger nymphs spoke softly, "She's… like father."

Another whispered, "Are we getting a visitor?"

I couldn't help but let a small thought slip out as I looked down again.

"Looks like it."

Nyx had found me.

as always Saturdays
