Chapter 5 - 5 The Truth In Her Blood

The wind outside had calmed, but inside the house, nothing felt normal.

Sara lay in Rohan's arms, her golden eyes slowly fading back to dark brown. Her small body relaxed, as if nothing had happened. As if she hadn't just glowed under the moonlight.

"She… changed," Rohan said in a low voice.

Arya nodded. "It's the first sign. The full moon is calling the werewolf inside her."

"But she's just a baby…"

"She may be small, but the blood inside her is ancient. It's waking up."

Rohan held Sara tighter. "What will happen to her?"

Arya looked into the fire. Her voice was soft but serious. "If she becomes a full werewolf, she will feel a strong pull toward the wild… toward their kind."

"But she's our daughter," Rohan said. "We raised her."

"She has your heart," Arya said. "But her powers come from her mother's side. One day, she'll have to choose."

Rohan's eyes turned sad. "I already lost Diviya. I can't lose Sara."

"You won't," Arya said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Not while I'm alive."

Days passed. Sara grew quickly. Her laughter returned, and her baby eyes stayed brown most of the time. But every now and then, under the moonlight, the golden glow returned.

Arya began teaching Rohan how to shield Sara's scent, how to move silently, and how to protect her if the wolves returned.

But Rohan had questions.

One evening, as Sara slept between them on the couch, he turned to Arya and asked, "Why didn't you tell me about Diviya before? Did you know she was a werewolf?"

Arya was quiet for a long time. Then she spoke.

"The moment I smelled Sara that night, I knew she wasn't fully human. Her scent was mixed — part wolf, part something else. I understood then… your wife had to be a werewolf."

"You should have told me," Rohan said. "I had a right to know."

Arya looked at him with guilt in her eyes. "I was trying to protect you both. If anyone knew Sara was born of a werewolf and a human, they'd come for her. She's rare. Special. Powerful."

"What do they want with her?"

"Some might want to train her. Others might want to use her. And some… might want to destroy her."

Rohan looked down at Sara. Her tiny hand was holding his finger tightly. "She didn't ask for any of this."

"No," Arya whispered. "But destiny chose her anyway."

That night, Arya stood at the window again. The moon was full. It bathed the trees in silver light. She closed her eyes and listened.

She heard nothing. No wolves. No footsteps. Only silence.

But deep inside, her instincts told her the danger was not gone. It had only stepped back… waiting for the right time.

Behind her, Rohan watched her.

"You're scared," he said.

Arya didn't turn. "I'm ready."

Rohan stepped closer. "So am I."

They stood in silence, two vampires in love, looking out at a world that hated them, and feared the child they were raising.

But none of that mattered.

They would protect Sara.

Even if it cost them everything.
