Chapter 38 - EPISODE 38: “The Game of Disguises”

Unsettling Frequencies

Inside Zoick's lab, the lights flicker faintly as a spectral buzz fills the space. Zoick leans forward, eyes narrowing at the glowing data on his screen. The frequency patterns—too familiar. Too dangerous.

Zoick (mutters):

"This can't be… the same pattern… from the spell."

Dr. Shine enters, files clutched, tension heavy.

Dr. Shine (grave):

"We confirmed it, sir. These new frequencies coming from beneath the Earth… they nearly match the spell's. That's why Kwan and Lee went to investigate personally."

Zoick (frowning):

"How long will this take?"

Dr. Shine (quietly):

"Could be months… or even years."

Suddenly, Zoick's phone rings. He answers.

Sang's voice (on phone, quick and commanding):

"Zoick. No questions. Just come to my school in Velkrith tomorrow. Bring two white aprons. That's it. Bye."

Zoick:

"Wait—H-Hello? Sang, what the—"

The line dies. Zoick stares at the phone and sighs.

Zoick (exasperated):

"Sheesh… this guy."

Meddling with Teachers

Morning in Velkrith. The air is crisp. Students chatter in the background.

Zoick arrives, holding two white aprons awkwardly. He spots a familiar figure sitting calmly on a bench—Rakhad, arms crossed, unreadable as ever.

Zoick:

"Hey! Rakhad? You too?"

Rakhad (calmly):

"Sang came rushing last night. Told me to be here. No explanation."

He eyes the aprons.

Rakhad:

"Are those…?"

Zoick:

"Doctor costumes. Don't ask."

Right then, Sang comes sprinting, panting slightly, eyes determined.

Sang:

"Thanks for coming! Now quick, wear those."

Zoick:

"Wait, what?!"

Sang:

"I told my teacher you're my doctors. I need backup. Please!"

Rakhad (flat):

"This is foolish."

Sang (serious):

"If you don't help, I'm suspended."

Zoick (defeated):

"Fine. But this is the last time I wear cosplay to a school."

Operation: Fool the Teacher

Cut to the school hallway.

Sang (to teacher):

"These are my doctors, ma'am."

The teacher raises a brow as Zoick and Rakhad, dressed awkwardly in white aprons, stand stiff as mannequins.

Teacher:

"Doctors, hmm? What's wrong with him?"

Zoick (babbling with medical jargon):

"Well, uh, you see, the neurosympathetic cortex is in flux with—"

Teacher (confused):

"What?"

Rakhad (quickly):

"He meant… Sang needs constant monitoring. His condition is rare and… mysterious."

Teacher (suspicious, then sighs):

"Alright. But I'll be keeping an eye on him."

Sang, Zoick, and Rakhad share relieved glances as they retreat from her office.

The Tournament Announcement

Inside the classroom…

Teacher (clearing throat):

"Students! This week, we begin our School Martial Arts Tournament And Yoga Classes."

The class lights up with excitement.

Students:

"A tournament?! Like… duels and fights?"

Teacher:

"Exactly. You can face anyone, play any physical sport, or request a formal duel and also take yoga classes if you interested. Sign-ups close by end of day."

Neeran eyes narrowed and whispers,

Neeran:

Now my time has came sang ! Let's wait for tomorrow.

A Glimpse Into Shadows

Meanwhile… far across the universe.

Inside the Imperial Throne Chamber of Threxius, a grand meeting is in session. Pillars of stone, ancient flames, and icy glares.

Threxius (cold, voice slicing through silence):

"I did not ask about them…"

He stands now, crimson cape trailing across the floor, eyes glowing.

Threxius (growling):

"I asked—how could you confirm that they are… reincarnating?"

Silence. No one dares answer.
