Chapter 8 - Wild street

{Find your purpose}

The system notified.

Arthur looked at the message.

He looked around.

This place doesn't seem like any realm, or trial.

He is back in moungen kingdom, but on another street he hadn't been to before.

He would have a hard time finding his way back.

Maybe that why the system dumped him here.

{You have 3 hours}

The system warned again.

"You can't do this" Arthur said grabbing at the air. He can't believe the system put him to this..

People glared at him as they passed and exchanged word, probably a new begger on the street trying to rob you.

He could tell from the way each one of them held onto their clothes and hurried past him.

Is this the system punishment?.

Everything here seems normal, so why did the system sent him here?.

What could possibly be his punishment.

Arthur shook his head, he couldn't get any of it.

Find your purpose, or you would be transported to another realm forever.

He repeated in his mind.

He slowly stood on his leg, thankfully his cane had appeared with him, Since he had returned to a cripple.

He held onto it.

Arthur looked at the distance the same palace wall, reared in the distance.

He sighed.

He had to find his way home, but the system warning pondered him again.

he rubbed his hand on his hair.

He started to regret using the system.

Or meeting eclas.

He didn't need to stare at this place twice.

The old smell of smoke, the loud noise that almost deafened his ear, the hustle and bustle of this street. This confirmed his guess, this street is a wild place.

Probably bandits or....

But bandit don't exist here do they?.

He walked away from the road, and stayed beside the side road.

"Hey boy are you mad?" an old man asked as Arthur passed him. He sat in front of a big bowl, seated by the road.

He sure look like a mad man. He checked himself, he was still wearing his ragged shirt and trouser, and his black hair was messy.

"Please what is the name of this street?" Arthur asked the man, who snickered at him.

"So you aren't that mad, you are just acting like one" the man folded his hand.

Arthur looked at the man but couldn't talk.

"Are you hungry?" The man asked, dipping his hand into his pocket, and threw a coin at Arthur.

"Just take that," the man pointed.

Arthur felt a little disappointed, he didn't ask for a coin but a direction, instead he got tossed a coin.

Either way he was hungry..

So he bent down and slipped in the coin.

"Thank you" Arthur bowed, as he limped away.

He walked a little further up the street, this was the first time he was walking in the day before the incident with his mom.

He had always preferred to be indoor..

A cart pushed hurriedly past him, knocking him down.

"Oh I am really sorry" he said, he bent down to drag Arthur up.

"Are you hungry? We are giving food out behind the alley if you want one you can drop by" said the cart boy..

Giving out food?.

Before Arthur could comprehend the boy's message. He had disappeared into the alley by the fat right.

How did he get there fast?.

Well he didn't have time for food right now, he just had to search for his purpose.

And the system time is tickling.

He thought he could go on, but after a few steps, Arthur stopped as the sun burned down harshly on him.

He couldn't take it anymore, from across footsteps away, the smell of bread hit his nose reminding him of his hunger.

Then he made up his mind, he had no choice but to go back to where the cart boy described him.

He could buy bread but the coins aren't enough to buy bread.

Just then he remembered his mom might have been back in the room with the bread she had promised him. If it wasn't for the system's harsh rules or his own stupidity for assessing the system quest early, he would be eating bread by now.

He looked over at the place where the cart pusher disappeared into, his stomach guiding him towards the path.

He turned into the alley by the right house.

It was narrow, the wall of a timbered house loomed over his head.

And the smell of smoke clung to the air.

Darkness pressed in from all sides.

He couldn't see even though it was daylight, he mistakenly hit his leg on the wall, but he held on.

He should have prepared for this, well who prepared when going for free food?.

I hope the system won't be mad at me for eating.

Finally he got out to the other side.

At the alley end, the space opened slightly

Into a small courtyard. cluttered with barrels. A stray cat darted past Arthur's leg and disappeared back into the dark alley.

Arthur looked around, there was no one, and no signs of food sharing which match the cart man description.

What the hell is happening?

It was a trick, but why?.

Just as he made to turn and go back into the alley, a bird flew at Arthur from nowhere, he flinched and fell down groaning in pain.

The bird landed beside Arthur giving him a hard stare.

"It okey louna," a voice called, from inside the alley. Arthur turned and looked at the alley he had come through.

It was a boy, a little bigger than Arthur. He had a burn on his face, muscular for his age, he wore a silk knee length shirt, and silk loose goose pants. He has short black hair.

A girl flanked him, dressed in a Velvet gown that captures her every curve. Another boy flanked him dressed like the first boy but he had a white hair.

The first boy smiled at Arthur wickedly.

"You actually came from a fool," the first boy laughed. He clicked his finger.

The bird was engulfed in smoke.

Arthur looked at him, eyes widened in horror.

What had he just done?..

Did he make the bird end up in flame?.

Arthur swallowed nervously.

"Oh are you scared?" The boy taunted. "The bird is my summon, so I just discharged him back."

" A beast tamer" said Arthur.

The boy laughed and walked over to Arthur and put his knife on his neck.

" Arthur at the awakening ceremony, who couldn't awaken a class right?"

"You know me?" Arthur asked.

"Of course who wouldn't know a loser like you. A mockery to your family." The boy laughed and so did his two accomplices.

"Anyway, I am Rex, and my friends are Muguel and Ruina," he pointed to the other kids.

Ruina the girl locked her cold eyes on Arthur.. he couldn't see nothing but coldness.

"What are you doing here?" Ruina asked.

"I heard the cart man told me about distributing food here" explained Arthur.

Rex pinned his knife into Arthur neck. "Introduction over boy, maracos did a good job, making you believe that creepy lie"

Muguel laughed. " John is right to call him a fool, he really do act like one"

Arthur trembled. John?, what is he doing here?

did John sent them?.

 why isn't he showing himself?

But he didn't see him anywhere here.

Rex sighed. "I hate doing John bidding, but I am sorry I got no choice but to listen to your brother but I don't have a choice" said Rex.

Arthur closed his eyes. What had he done to John to deserv this?.

He had failed his awakening right, so why is he still after him?.

Is that why the system put him here?.

It seems like a minute when Arthur closed his eyes, and Rex pressed his knife on Arthur neck.

Ruina lunches forward at moguel since he is the first, she threw a punch in his face making the boy fall on his bum.

Rex looked up, surprised by his friend sudden behavior.

He raised an eyebrows at her. "What are you doing Ruina?"

However the girl didn't answer, she charge at Rex in a speed that Rex find to fast and knocked the knife from his hand, jab him on his neck. He fell on his knees, and hit the ground, closing his eyes.

The girl stepped forward and dragged Arthur to feet.

Arthur opened his eyes and saw the two boys on the ground.

What had happened?.

But the girl didn't plan on explaining anything to him, or even had idea why she did it.

She held Arthur hand and dragged him out of the alley and into the street.

Arthur could hear a groan back in the courtyard. He didn't know what had happened.

"Come on" Ruina said and raced towards the end of the street. "They wouldn't be back up for a while." She said.

Arthur looked at her shocked. She had just betray her friends to help him.

They stopped in front of the bread carven, where she ordered a bread.

"Two bread please" she called to the man.

The man served her a piece of bread. "Thank you" Arthur said as she handed them over to him.

She nodded. "Just eat it. And in case you think I rescued you, I didn't. I just helped you, so you could owe me a debt. I like people owing me debt. So be ready to pay the debt back soon"

She said and before Arthur could say anything she was gone, running between the crowd, and in an instant she was gone like she was never there, like an assassin.

Who is she?.

And why did he help him and also gave him food.
