Inside, it was lively but not too crowded. A fire crackled in the stone hearth, and several patrons were seated at tables with mugs of ale in hand. At the counter stood the innkeeper — a tall, curvy woman in her thirties with auburn hair tied up in a messy bun. Her dress clung to her body in a way that left little to the imagination, the neckline plunging enough to show the deep valley of her cleavage.
Oliver nearly tripped on the threshold.
"Welcome, sir and madam!" she said warmly, her voice rich and inviting. "Looking for a room? Or a meal?"
"Both," Oliver said quickly, trying not to stare. "Preferably a bigger room. Something… decent."
The innkeeper leaned on the counter, which did absolutely nothing to hide her ample assets — if anything, it pushed them up even more. "We've got a deluxe room open. Big bed, heated floors, private bath. Comes with complimentary hot water if you're planning to soak tonight."
"That sounds perfect," Oliver said, trying to keep his voice level.
