Chapter 10 - The Blood Wolf has fallen

The meal was a bit depressing.

Noah kept picking up the food, but his eyes kept glancing out the window. His fingers tapped lightly on the rim of the teacup, and the rhythm was a little rapid.

"This sweet and sour pork rib tastes good."

Noah's voice was a bit stiff and not as natural as usual.

I munched on the rice and my eyes fell on his face. There were fine beads of sweat on his forehead, and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.

"What are you nervous about?"

"Nope."

Noah put down her chopsticks and wiped the back of her hand against the corners of her mouth. The movements are fast, and the eyes flicker.

The air conditioner in the private room was whirring, but I could hear his rapid breathing.

"Why don't Lucas and Henry come?"

"I said, they're in trouble."

Noah's voice raised a pitch.

I stopped my chopsticks and looked him in the eye. The pupils are slightly constricted, and the whites of the eyes are bloodshot.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course."

Noah got up and walked to the window, pulling back the curtains and looking out. Pedestrians rush through the streets, and neon lights flicker.

I stood up and walked behind him.

"Let's go."

"So fast? I didn't finish the dishes. "

Noah turned around, his face a little pale.

"I'm full."

I picked up my coat and pushed open the door to the private room.

Noah followed me, his footsteps a little hurried. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck.

As the waiter checked out, Noah pulled out his phone and glanced at it. The moment the screen lit up, I caught a glimpse of an unread message.

"Are you ready?"

I didn't say anything and followed him out of the restaurant.

The streets are a little cold at night, and the street lamps cast a dim yellow halo. We walked back the way we came.

From time to time, Noah looked back, his pace getting faster and faster.

"You're in a hurry?"

"No, I just want to go back to the dorm early."

Ahead is an intersection with a flashing traffic light.

Noah stopped abruptly and turned to look at me.

"I'm sorry."

The words were soft, but I heard them clearly.

I frowned, and was about to ask.

Footsteps came from all directions, and there were at least seven or eight people.

A black figure walked out of the alley, holding something in his hand.

The moonlight shines on the metal surface, reflecting a cold glow.

"Bang!"

Gunshots exploded, and firelight flickered in the night sky.

The bullet passed through the air and went straight to my chest.

My body fell backwards, my back hitting the ground hard.

The icy asphalt was against my skin, and blood gushed from the wound.

Noah stood there with no expression on his face.

"Why?"

My voice was soft, and a fishy-sweet taste welled up in my throat.

"Because you're a monster."

Noah crouched down and looked me in the eye.

"The world doesn't need monsters."

My vision began to blur, but I could see the disgust in his eyes.

Not fear, pure disgust.

"You think you're going to kill me?"

Blood flows from the corners of the mouth and drips onto the ground.

The wolf head mark on his back began to heat up, and the burning sensation spread throughout his body.

"It's just a bullet."

I sat up slowly, and the blood from the wound began to clot.

Noah's face turned pale in an instant.

"Impossible."

He took two steps back, his eyes full of horror.

"I said, I'm a monster."

I stood up, and the wound on my chest was more than half healed.

Green smoke rose from my forehead, and the figure of the blood wolf condensed in the night sky.

This time it's a full entity state.

Blood-red eyes scanned the killers around them, claws glinting in the moonlight.

 "Bang!"

"Bang!"

Two gunshots exploded almost simultaneously. The first bullet went through the body of the blood wolf, and the second went straight to my chest.

The roar of the blood wolf came to an abrupt halt, and blood gushed out of the bullet holes. It staggered two steps, its massive body slamming to the ground. The blood pooled into a puddle of light, glowing eerily in the moonlight.

"Master, I—" The blood wolf's voice sounded intermittently in my head.

Before the words fell, the blood wolf's body began to become transparent. It slowly turned from physical to imaginary, and finally turned into a wisp of green smoke, trembling back to my forehead.

This time, there is no healing power of a blood wolf.

I clutched my chest, feeling the blood oozing from between my fingers. The warm liquid ran down his arm and dripped on the cold ground. The mark of the wolf's head on his back was dim, like a completely extinguished brand.

"I can't beat you. But guns can. Brother Tiger squatted in front of me, with smugness in his voice.

My vision began to blur, and I felt a sense of weakness in my limbs. Blood is pouring out, and the body's temperature is losing rapidly.

"Ahem," I tried to speak, but I could only cough up blood foam.

"Don't waste your efforts." Brother Tiger reached out and patted my face.

A couple of juniors came around, and one of them kicked me in the leg. "This is what happens when you go against Brother Tiger."

I could feel their gaze, I could hear their conversation, but my body couldn't move. The blood spreads across the ground, forming an irregular pattern.

My eyelids were getting heavier and my breathing was getting harder and harder. Consciousness began to drift away, like a stone sinking into the deep sea.

But in the last moments when my consciousness completely disappeared, I felt something.

An anger that has never been experienced before, a roar that comes from the depths of the soul.

It wasn't the voice of a blood wolf, it was something else.

A more dangerous, more terrifying existence.
