Chapter 114 - Chapter 116: The Time of the Great Teleportation is Near

Allen watched them in silence.

The four beast-girls in maid outfits were bowing with their heads lowered, a posture that only made their beastly features more prominent.

From left to right were a girl with rabbit ears, one with wolf ears, one with dog ears, and one with cat ears.

The last one was a familiar face—the cat-eared girl who had sat opposite him on the carriage back to Roa.

After a quick bow, the four of them straightened up, all smiles. They stood with their hands clasped demurely in front of them, looking perfectly well-behaved.

Allen met their gazes for a moment.

Then he turned and walked away.

"Wrong room."

As he stepped out, he instinctively started to turn left, but he paused, then turned back and headed right.

While he was hesitating, the cat-girl had already appeared by his side.

"Your reaction is exactly as Master Philip described. You've misunderstood, sir. We are here to make your bed. We have just finished preparing Miss Sylphiette's and Master Rudeus's beds. You are the last one."

Allen turned his head back with a sense of resignation.

He focused only on the cat-girl's eyes, avoiding her distinct furry ears.

"Master Philip taught you that line too, didn't he? Who makes the beds on the sides first and leaves the middle room for last?"

The cat-girl just smiled without answering. After a moment, she shook her head.

"It was the madam's suggestion. She said that our esteemed tutors have come from afar. Whether it's for saving Lady Eris's life on the road or for being Master Paul's son, it is only right that we provide you with the best hospitality."

Hearing her clearly evasive answer, Allen shook his head and stepped aside to let them pass.

"Alright, I understand. Please thank the madam for me. You may leave now."

The cat-girl nodded.

"Of course. We will take our leave now. Good night, Mr. Allen."

In his peripheral vision, the four of them bowed in unison once more.

Then, one by one, they walked past him.

The unique animal scent of the beast-folk, mixed with a complex, layered perfume, wafted into Allen's nose.

Once they had left the room, Allen immediately shut the door. But in the next instant, his exceptional Water God Style senses picked up their conversation perfectly.

"Ah, for an adventurer, he's surprisingly innocent~"

"He has a well-developed body, but in certain aspects, he seems a bit useless~"

"What a shame And I even took a special bath"

The last was a question from the cat-girl.

"Eh? Miss Sylphiette, you're still awake? Is the bed not comfortable?"

"...No, it's fine. Thank you."

A very faint sound of a door closing followed.

Allen stared at his own door, stunned for a moment.

After a full day of overthinking, he couldn't help but feel his composure crack under Philip's antics.

"What is all this nonsense!"

He turned, walked to the desk, and sat down. Leaning back against the soft chair, he stared up at the ceiling.

After the intense battle with the Ouroboros assassins the previous night, the sudden killing spree in the morning, and a tour of the estate that would have exhausted a mad dog, his will had been stretched taut for a long time. His mind was exhausted, and a vein in his temple was throbbing painfully.

Yet, Allen felt not the slightest bit of sleepiness.

Time ticked by, second by second.

Finally, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and exhaled.

He opened his eyes.

He reached out, opened a drawer, and took out a pen and paper, placing them on the desk.

The candlelight flickered across his face.

Three characters were written at the very top of the paper:

「Great Teleportation」

Below it:

「Area of Effect: Fittoa Region」

'It's currently spring. After the tutoring period begins, and before Rudeus's birthday, there are just over three years left.'

'There are no visible traces of the teleportation magic's rift in spacetime in the skies above Roa yet, unlike in the original story.'

'No, it has existed since Rudeus was born. It's just not observable to the naked eye yet.'

'In the anime, it was depicted as a sphere entwined with magical 'ribbons'.'

Allen squinted at the words "Great Teleportation" and drew a circle around them with his pen.

He was about to start writing inside the circle, but his pen tip shifted, and he began writing outside it instead.

Buena Village: Paul, Zenith, Lilia, Norn, Aisha, Rolls, Noda.

The best way to avoid tragedy is to get these people far away from the possibility of being teleported. Even if Zenith is rescued early after the incident, there's no guarantee she won't end up in a vegetative state, similar to a 'sensory deprivation' condition, as she did in the original story.

A baseline plan: if no better opportunity arises, I'll just knock them all out, load them onto a cart, and haul them away.

His pen moved again.

Roa City: Allen, Rudy, Eris, Sylphie.

Uncertain candidates. Should I let Rudeus and Eris be teleported to the Demon Continent as they were? Rudy's fate is strong; he will definitely 'land' on the Demon Continent. But Sylphie's fate is now completely unpredictable. The teleportation is random, without logic. By bringing her to Roa, have I changed things so much that she won't be teleported to the capital at all?

And what about me? I'm not supposed to be teleported in the original story. Should I go with Rudeus? If all four of us are teleported together, can Rudeus's abilities still ensure a safe landing? Can I risk that?

Allen paused his writing. Without much thought, he lifted the pen and wrote.

Another baseline plan: Rudeus and Eris's situation is pending; I'll decide based on their circumstances at the time. I will personally take Sylphie away. All four of us will safely avoid the consequences of the Great Teleportation without any risk.

After writing this, Allen stretched his wrist.

Next.

Philip, Sauros.

Allen narrowed his eyes, the day's events flashing through his mind.

He glanced at Eris's name.

He put pen to paper.

He wrote both their names inside the circle of the Great Teleportation.

Philip, obsessed with the power of the capital. In the original timeline, he used his daughter as a bargaining chip to lure the 'talented' Rudeus into marrying into the family, helping him reclaim the position of family head. He even wrote a letter to Paul that made him mistakenly believe Rudeus had already decided to marry in.

Even if I were a saint and got him out...

Wouldn't he just try to persuade me to use the disappearance of the Fittoa region as an excuse to stir up trouble in the capital?

Based on his current behavior, it's more than likely.

Sauros, a man who places the family's honor above all else, for whom the 'tradition' of justice is more important than blood ties. Although he doted on Eris in her childhood, he tacitly approved of Philip's 'marriage' scheme. He didn't die in the teleportation but returned to the capital, intending to spend the family fortune to rebuild their territory.

Even if I were a saint and got him out...

What would be the point? Can I dig up the entire Fittoa region and take it with me?

In his eyes, the safety of his family is less important than his territory. He couldn't even bother to find out about the nearby conflict zone, allowing Philip and Hilda to die...

The pen stopped.

Allen stared at the newly written name and fell silent.

The spray from the fountain in the plaza, the crystal-clear tears on the face of the figure in the red dress—the memory was still vivid.

He remained silent for a moment, detaching himself emotionally, and continued to write.

Hilda, Eris is very dependent on her. In the original story, after accepting Rudeus as part of the family, she wanted Eris to marry him to make their family bond official.

From what I've seen so far, she is the only normal person in the Boreas household.

The pen stopped moving, and the ink bled into a smudge.

The late spring moonlight, so different from Buena Village's, shone through the window.

It cast a white glow on the tabletop.

It felt a little cold.
